KKSblog.com - To work for the benefit of others

The whole world has a spiritual tradition. Just see everywhere in every country,
there are temples mosques, churches and all kinds of religious things.
There are pyramids. The whole world has many traditional monuments everywhere.

I went to Rio De Janeiro and on the side of the city where the mountain is,
there is a 45 metres high statue of Jesus. It's impressive, when you stand
in the city of Rio De Janeiro, then you can see that statue, which really
looks like somebody is watching over this city. Some people may or
may not believe it, but it does emanate some power.
If we go to Rome and look at the Vatican, it is impressive.
Such a big building that we become a little humble. Our mind goes through
different moods. Sometimes we are proud….we feel strong, and
other times when we stand on top of a mountain we feel small! In
all the traditions of the world we find an exceptional class of people,
which are known as the saints.
The west has its saints….the east has its saints. These saints
are people who are very religious minded, and they seem to
have a great happiness within. So history had its saints
and also in modern times, there are still saintly people – people
who are willing to work for the benefit of others!

Everyday we ask people:
"How are you? Are you all right?"
We constantly have to ask, because the mind is just like the weather – it changes all the time. In this way people are actually under the control of the mind. The mind is connected to the senses:
"Oh, what do we see? I must have it? Whatever I see, I must have."
The eyes are connected to my mind:
"Now I see it, and now it is in my head. I think about and dream about it. I cannot live without it anymore.
Yes, but we must learn to rise above the mind! Because this mind gets us entangled in so many things, and all these things – we desire them, but how much happiness do they bring us? So many false dreams!

The Monster Market of the Gangsters!

The whole marketing industry is making huge profits by inducing the
common mass of people with the attraction between the opposite sex.
You might have seen in most of the advertisements that there'll be no
relation between the product or service being promoted and the theme
of the ads.
The ads are made after thorough psychological
Study in such a way that we'll get enamoured by the ads even without
our knowledge. They inject poison into our minds and influence our
consciousness without even our notice.
Actually people want themselves to be cheated and they like themselves
cheated by some one who does word jugglery.
The sweet feminine voice is another tool to attract anyone who hears
that. Thats why you can see any women who can sing so nicely are
making huge money in the marketing industry. But unless we understand
that we are being exploited by our own sinful desires(which is to
enjoy the nature separately from God),there's no chance of us saving
our soul.
One who loses the imperishable(soul) soon loses the perishable(body)
as well.If wealth is lost nothing is lost, but if character is
lost,everything is lost!

Krishna always wears peacock feather-Must Read!

When one day Krishna woke first from a rest in the forest with his
cowherd friends, he decided to wake everyone and call the cows grazing
at a distance by playing his flute. When Krishna blew the nectar of
his lips into the flute, a melodious raga with a slow rhythm and a
deep base emerged from its end. This wonderful vibration enchanted the
peacocks in and around the Govardhan hills. Their hearts began to sing
in happiness and fill the skies with their own song. The resonant
vibrations from the flute encouraged the peacocks to dance. Krishna,
who is the source of all dramatic arts, was pleased with their dance
and encouraged them by his kind glances and sweet smiling. They cried
with joy and it sounded all over the hills. In time, their sounds
became indistinguishable from the echoes. They became excited and
jumped up and down, flapping their wings. As the peacocks danced, the
kings of peacocks made his way to the lotus feet of SriKrishna,
touches His holy feet and makes a sound which SriKrishna understands
as a thanking note and requesting Him to dance with them. SriKrishna
accepts to dance and moves amidst them, dancing like the peacocks
increasing the tempo and playing to the rhythm of His steps. The bliss
of the peacocks increased multifold when SriKrishna danced with them.
It was so overwhelming, that some peacocks fainted. All the animals
and cowherds of the Govardhan hills stood transfixed, unable to move
their eyes away from the dance of SriKrishna. The flute in
SriKrishna's hand seeing the uncommon performance of its master began
to sing on its own. The spectacle was extremely splendid when seen
from the top of the Govardhan hills, the heaven and even the
netherland. They danced for a long time and slowly the tired peacocks
stopped dancing. Then Krishna danced to the rhythm of His own steps.
After many days, when he stopped dancing, there was an enchanting
silence. The king of the peacocks approached SriKrishna with great
humility, bowed down his head and said, "You have created a festival
of bliss for which we remain eternally indebted to You. It is our duty
to offer you 'Gurudakshina'. I request You to accept our only
opulence, our plumage. Wear them on your crown as a decoration." With
large tears of ecstasy, the king of peacocks dropped many divine
feathers. SriKrishna lovingly accepted the offering of the peacocks
and picked up the feathers and to everybody's joy, placed a few of
them on his turban. Thus he came to wear the peacock feathers.

KKSblog.com - Transcedental addiction

Transcedental addiction

Posted: 24 Sep 2011 04:51 PM PDT

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, Modra, Slovakia, 2011)

All the temporary relationships in this world will oneday break our heart, but spiritual things are not like that – they are eternal. The kirtan is not at all temporary. It hasn't stopped….it's still going on. It continues in our consciousness. Maybe it looks like the music has stopped and that may echo for a little while in our minds until we forget it.

The name of Krishna is non different from Krishna, and the connection we made with Krishna in this kirtan, that will continue from where we left off! So the kirtan is not temporary………………………Our eternal relationship with Krishna is getting deeper and deeper. Devotional service is different. There is always this eternal damage. First we know it theoretically, and then as we begin to perceive Krishna more than we know it practically….and then we get more and more enthusiastic about it, and we begin to get addicted to kirtan. We can't stop anymore. We have to do it again and again until we lose our voices…until we have no hands left…..and even then in between we still do it again. It becomes a transcendental addiction!

To do our best!

Posted: 24 Sep 2011 04:11 PM PDT

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, Modra, Slovakia, 2011)

Once we begin our devotional service then we want to do something more. It's very nice, since you do the best you can for Krishna without expecting anything in return!

Usually in the world you do the worst possible job and you want the most money for it! As the boss complains, you then go to the union. But in Krishna Consciousness we try to do the best as we can and we don't get paid! It's wonderful….you invite everyone to try it!

Soweto Ratha Yatra

Posted: 24 Sep 2011 01:27 PM PDT

The day after Pretoria Ratha Yatra, Lord Jagannatha decided to bless the citizens of Soweto, a less affluent region of Johannesburg inhabited by African people. Its name is an English syllabic abbreviation for South Western Townships.

It was a nice parade and the local children constantly followed Jagannatha's chariot as devotees generously distributed Mahaprasadam in form of candy and lollipops. The Ratha Yatra procession was well received – many people were watching, some clapped their hands and others even danced.

At the festival site, a huge initiation ceremony took place as the main event. Eight devotees received first initiation from HH Kadamba Kanana Maharaja. A nice kirtana started the ceremony, followed by a powerful lecture by Maharaja, HH Bhakti Caitanya Maharaja and HH Bhakti Nrsmha Maharaja. The initiates were blessed with wonderful names like Ujjvala, Candrasekhar and Rasaraja. It was a truly transcendental event which ended with another roaring kirtana.

Maharaja stayed a further two days in Pretoria and then travelled to Cape Town for a week-longvisit.

Pretoria Ratha Yatra

Posted: 24 Sep 2011 01:19 PM PDT

Maharaja's stay in Durban continued with a function on the South Coast of Kwa-zulu Natal that was hosted by HG Haridev. It was held in a rented hall and well attended. The program for the evening consisted of a performance by a Bhajana Band, kirtanas by Maharaja, talks from both HH Kadamba Kanana Maharaja and HH Bhakti Caitanya Maharaja, and a newly released movie by HH Bhakti Caitanya Maharaja was featured.

On Saturday (17 September), Maharaja flew to Pretoria, to be part of the first Pretoria Ratha Yatra ever held there. Devotees from all over South Africa, and some from Swaziland, graced this grand event. Ecstatic kirtanas were led by great kirtaniers like HH Kadamba Kanana Maharaja, HH Bhakti Caitanya Maharaja, HG Mahaprabhu and HG Savya Saci. The occasion was blessed by wonderful weather as the devotees pulled Their Lordships Jagannatha Baladeva and Subhadra Devi through the city to Pretoria's Union State building, were the festival site was set up. It was quite impressive to see the devotees having their international 'Festival of chariots' in the governmental area of South Africa's capital city.

Devotees can protect us even from the anger of Krishna...when we take shelter of them.

Padyavali Dasi # The process is that by the grace of the devotee the
mercy of the Lord is obtained, and by the mercy of the Lord a chance
to serve the Lord's devotee is obtained…. Devotees are therefore more
merciful than the Lord, and in devotional service the mercy of a
devotee is more valuable than the mercy of the Lord… --Bhaktivedanta
purport Padyavali Dasi# This is an excerpt from the Bhaktivedanta
purport when Srila Prabhupada mentioned it in relation with the
history of the demon Maya Danava who was an inhabitant of the forest
Khandava, and when the Khandava Forest was set on fire, he asked
...protection from Arjuna. Arjuna saved his life, and as a result of
this the demon felt obliged. He reciprocated by building a wonderful
assembly house for the Pāṇḍavas... And yet Lord Kṛṣṇa wanted to
kill him. When he was chased both by the fire and by the wheel of Lord
Kṛṣṇa, he took shelter of such a devotee as Arjuna, who saved him
from the wrath of the fire of Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa.. Both the fire and
the Lord ceased from chasing the demon as soon as both of them saw
that the demon was given shelter by such a devotee as Arjuna. This
demon, feeling obliged to Arjuna, wanted to do him some service to
show his gratefulness, but Arjuna declined to accept anything from him
in exchange. Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, however, being pleased with Maya for
his taking shelter of a devotee, asked him to render service unto King
Yudhiṣṭhira by building a wonderful assembly house...

Transcendental competition

via Mayapur TV Archives by ashok on 9/22/11

ABOUT THE SPEAKER
His Grace Jananivas prabhu joined Srila Prabhupada in Mayapur from the beginning of the project (1972) and has been the personal servant of their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Madhava ever since. He enlivens the world by the ever increasingly high standard of the deity worship performed in Mayapur under his guidance. The world can now also benefit from his association via these classes. Prabhu never fails to bring the consciousness of the listener to a higher level, always deeper realizations. He knows the art of opening the heart to be ready to welcome devotional service. My obeisances onto him.

Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 4.20.27
athābhaje tvākhila-pūruṣottamaḿ
guṇālayaḿ padma-kareva lālasaḥ
apy āvayor eka-pati-spṛdhoḥ kalir
na syāt kṛta-tvac-caraṇaika-tānayoḥ

SYNONYMS
atha — therefore; ābhaje — I shall engage in devotional service; tvā — unto You; akhila — all-inclusive; pūruṣa-uttamam — the Supreme Personality of Godhead; guṇa-ālayam — the reservoir of all transcendental qualities; padma-karā — the goddess of fortune, who carries a lotus flower in her hand; iva — like; lālasaḥ — being desirous; api — indeed; āvayoḥ — of Lakṣmī and me; eka-pati — one master; spṛdhoḥ — competing; kaliḥ — quarrel; na — not; syāt — may take place; kṛta — having done; tvat-caraṇa — unto Your lotus feet; eka-tānayoḥ — one attention.

TRANSLATION
Now I wish to engage in the service of the lotus feet of the Supreme Personality of Godhead and to serve just like the goddess of fortune, who carries a lotus flower in her hand, because His Lordship, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is the reservoir of all transcendental qualities. I am afraid that the goddess of fortune and I would quarrel because both of us would be attentively engaged in the same service.

PURPORT
The Lord is here addressed as akhila-pūruṣottama, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord of the entire creation. puruṣa means "the enjoyer," and uttama means "the best." There are different kinds of puruṣas, or enjoyers, within the universe. Generally they can be divided into three classes — those who are conditioned, those who are liberated and those who are eternal. In the Vedas the Supreme Lord is called the supreme eternal of all eternals (nityo nityānām). Both the Supreme Personality of Godhead and the living entities are eternal. The supreme eternals are the viṣṇu-tattva, or Lord Viṣṇu and His expansions. So nitya refers to the Personality of Godhead, beginning from Kṛṣṇa to Mahā-Viṣṇu, Nārāyaṇa and other expansions of Lord Kṛṣṇa. As stated in the Brahma-saḿhitā (rāmādi-mūrtiṣu), there are millions and trillions of expansions of Lord Viṣṇu, as Rāma, Nṛsiḿha, Varāha and other incarnations. All of them are called eternals.

The word mukta refers to the living entities who never come within this material world. The baddhas are those living entities who are almost eternally living within this material world. The baddhas are struggling very hard within this material world to become free from the threefold miseries of material nature and to enjoy life, whereas the muktas are already liberated. They never come into this material world. Lord Viṣṇu is the master of this material world, and there is no question of His being controlled by material nature. Consequently, Lord Viṣṇu is addressed here as pūruṣottama, the best of all living entities — namely viṣṇu-tattvas and jīva-tattvas. It is a great offense, therefore, to compare Lord Viṣṇu and the jīva-tattva or consider them on an equal level. The Māyāvādī philosophers equalize the jīvas and the Supreme Lord and consider them to be one, but that is the greatest offense to the lotus feet of Lord Viṣṇu.

Here in the material world we have practical experience that a superior person is worshiped by an inferior one. Similarly, pūruṣottama, the greatest, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Kṛṣṇa, or Lord Viṣṇu, is always worshiped by others. Pṛthu Mahārāja therefore decided to engage in the service of the lotus feet of Lord Viṣṇu. Pṛthu Mahārāja is considered to be an incarnation of Lord Viṣṇu, but he is called a śaktyāveśa incarnation. Another significant word in this verse is guṇālayam, which refers to Viṣṇu as the reservoir of all transcendental qualities. The Māyāvādī philosophers take the Absolute Truth to be nirguṇa ("without qualities"), in accordance with the impersonalistic view, but actually the Lord is the reservoir of all good qualities. One of the most important qualities of the Lord is His inclination to His devotees, for which He is called bhakta-vatsala. The devotees are always very much inclined to render service unto the lotus feet of the Lord, and the Lord is also very much inclined to accept loving service from His devotees. In that exchange of service there are many transcendental transactions, which are called transcendental qualitative activities. Some of the transcendental qualities of the Lord are that He is omniscient, omnipresent, all-pervasive, all-powerful, the cause of all causes, the Absolute Truth, the reservoir of all pleasures, the reservoir of all knowledge, the all-auspicious and so on.

Pṛthu Mahārāja desired to serve the Lord with the goddess of fortune, but this desire does not mean that he was situated on the platform of mādhurya-rasa. The goddess of fortune is engaged in the service of the Lord in the rasa of mādhurya, conjugal love. Although her position is on the chest of the Lord, the goddess of fortune, in her position as a devotee, takes pleasure in serving the lotus feet of the Lord. Pṛthu Mahārāja was thinking only of the lotus feet of the Lord because he is on the platform of dāsya-rasa, or servitorship of the Lord. From the next verse we learn that Pṛthu Mahārāja was thinking of the goddess of fortune as the universal mother, jagan-mātā. Consequently there was no question of his competing with her on the platform of mādhurya-rasa. Nonetheless he feared that she might take offense at his engaging in the service of the Lord. This suggests that in the absolute world there is sometimes competition between servitors in the service of the Lord, but such competition is without malice. In the Vaikuṇṭha worlds if a devotee excels in the service of the Lord, others do not become envious of his excellent service but rather aspire to come to the platform of that service.

A Devotee lives always in the company of the Lord!

via GLORIOUS KRISHNA by Jyoti & Vidya on 9/21/11

"If one simply follows the instructions of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, under the guidance of His representative, and chants the Hare Krsna mantra, teaching everyone as far as possible the same principle, the contamination of the materialistic way of life will not even touch him. It does not matter whether one lives in a holy place like Vrindavana, Navadvipa or Jagannatha Puri or in the midst of European cities where the materialistic way of life is very prominent. If a devotee follows the instructions of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, he lives in the company of the Lord. Wherever he lives, he converts that place into Vrindavana and Navadvipa. This means that materialism cannot touch him. This is the secret of success for one advancing in Krsna consciousness."

A flying stone

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via Gouranga-Epistle Of Love by Maral Alimova on 9/22/11

- Flying stone? What about you are talking dad???
- Yes, I saw with my own eyes and want you also see that. Otherwise people say that I got mad or something likes that.
In this way my father, my younger brother, me and my chess trainer all moved to a long trip to see that stone. It was in the hot summer days. We all went by our own small car.
Since I was only a female, so I had to take care of other's meal. My sister helped me to cook some samosas, naan, some sweet biscuits. We fulfilled big bottles with water and in the morning around 4 AM moved from the city. The journey going will take 1.5 days as like that coming also.
Whole day father droved the car, we sometimes slept, sometimes talk to father in order he could stay awake. In the late evening reached the capital city Ashgabat. There we refreshed our water bottles, and moved forward.
We were going to see a stone which hided behind a legend. It happened before Turkmenistan was in the union with Russia. Before USSR. Those days Russian soldiers used to attack this country because it was rich for oil, gas, wheat, cotton. One of those attacks was to this city to which we were going.
There was young girl who was pure and chaste with name Parav Bibi. She also had lots of friends. When soldiers attacked them and Parav Bibi with her friends ran to the mountains. But at least there was no place to go, but soldiers were reaching them. For a chaste girl to loose her chastity is the most abominable thing, knowing that those chaste girls started to pray to the mountain to help them. And there some people say that the mountain opened and all the girls took shelter in it. In this way enemies could not touch them.
Nowadays in that exact place we found a Muslim Musk. And that place regularly visited by pilgrimages. We reached that place very late night. And there could see the line of lights which go up to the mountain. For our request to go and see that place the priest told that he can not allow, because we may disturb those girls. He told that in those places are small stones and they are alive. They can listen, and can move. If we go at night we may hurt them with our feet. But he recommended seeing in the morning. Then he told that the biggest stone was moved to other place, now she is in the home of someone.
Yes, that big stone which were going to see and my father new where she was. In this way spending our night in that area, early in the morning nearly at 3 AM we moved to that city named Turkmenbashi. This city is quite expensive, because there was nowhere the source of drinking water; all the vegetables and fruits were far outside from the city. But their only wealth was the Caspian Sea: tourist place and factories which provide with oil from the Sea.
At least we reached the house where one family used to take care of that stone. It was a well repaired, furnished 2 stages building. When we entered to the house we were told to sit for a while and wait until other visitors come out. 30 minutes, 40 minutes past and they called us up. When I entered to the room I saw not small woman with green smiling but with deep gazing eyes. And near her was a stone in the rectangle form. It was put on a pillow and was little bit dirty by the hand touches. The woman welcomed us, asked if we came comfortably, that do we need something to eat, drink. It is quite traditional way of accepting a guest. Father and trainer told that everything is fine.
Before moving from my native place my colleague who wanted to marry but could not until her 30 years age she gave me her photo to ask that stone if she will marry soon. So first my father told me to sit before her and I showed a photo of my friend. She put the stone in her two big fingers and in my two big fingers, and she asked a stone showing photo if she gets marry soon. Before telling this the woman told that if when you say some request if the stone does round to the right side, it means your wish will be fulfilled if to opposite side then no.
She told and the stone slowly circulated in the clock wise, which means "yes". (After 2-3 years she got married.) Then father and other told to say my own wish. Then the woman told that even I can tell it in my mind also. I did so. I thought: "as Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita if one worships to Demigods one will go to their abode, if one worships to for fathers one will go to their abode, if one worships to ghosts one will live among them, but if one worships to Me one will come to Me." "in this way I do not want something from you stone. I heard that you are that Parav Bibi that chaste girl who is now inside this stone. I am sure that it is not comfortable life for you here. I will ask you: do you want to quite this stone?" "yes, do you want to quite this stone and be liberated?"
When I told these things even in my mind this stone circulated in the clock wise so fast that flew over to my chest. As I was very thin that time and hardly catching this stone I felt back myself. The stone was nearly 3-4 kilograms.
-         oh my God!
Then the woman told ok try again. I told to the stone the same thing again. The stone again flew high and now I could not catch and it flew to the wall and felt down. The woman cried out: "hey, be careful, with the stone, I hope it does not break."
After that she told that, I think your desires will be fulfilled, Barav Bibi never lies. She told that it is something strange that she started to fly. Then she added that it is very rare happening. I moved to the side and others by line started to sit and ask questions.
I do not know, was it because of that woman's some kind of yogic powers this stone is flying or in the reality this stone is a living being. I became confused. No, it was not a hallucination. I was in my full consciousness. But even thou till this time I do not believe for that what I saw.
But in old Puranas we can find that once the beautiful wife of a Brahmana Ahaliya was cursed by her husband for her conjugal infidelity with other man to take birth as a stone and live for billions of years in the stone. Hearing this she became very sad and regretted what she has done. Thus started to pray for forgiveness then as a result Brahmana told that because she regretted and understood her sin he forgives her but his curse will be there until the Supreme Personality of Godhead Lord Ramachandra Himself will come and liberate her.

THE COMPETITION OF HAPPINESS

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via GITA COACHING by akrura@gmail.com on 8/28/11

So transcendental pleasure mean feeling of pleasure through Krsna. Just like the gopis and Krsna. Gopis, when they saw Krsna is pleased, they became happy, and Krsna, when He saw that the gopis are happy, He become happier. Again the gopis see that Krsna is happier, they, again they become more happy. In this way, there is competition of happiness. The gopis see Krsna happier; they feel happiness, and Krsna sees gopis happier; Krsna feels happiness. This word is described in the Caitanya-caritamrta: dui lagi hura huri. This is spiritual competition.

So: "Pure devotional service automatically puts one in transcendental pleasure." In the material pleasure, if I see you happy, I am unhappy; If I see you unhappy, I become happy. This is nature. I may say otherwise, but material nature is, if one is put into difficulty, then I become very happy, and if I am happy, others become envious. This is material pleasure. Whereas spiritual pleasure means that when one sees Krsna is happy, a devotee's happy, the other devotee becomes happier. That is spiritual pleasure.

In the spiritual world there is competition, but when one is advanced, the competitor become happy: "Oh, he's so advanced. I could not do so." There is no enviousness. In the material world, if one is advanced, other, who is not advanced, he's envious. This is the difference between spiritual pleasure and material pleasure. It is not difficult to understand.

Material pleasure means if you are happy, I become unhappy; if you are unhappy, then I become happy. This is material pleasure. And spiritual pleasure means by seeing your happiness, I become happy. By seeing... But there is no distress in the spiritual world. Simply by seeing the happiness of other devotee, another devotee becomes happier.

KRSNA AND BALARAMA LOOKING FOR THEIR COWS-Must Read!

via GITA COACHING by akrura@gmail.com on 8/30/11

While Krsna and Balarama and Their friends were engaged in the pastimes described above, the cows, being unobserved, began to wander off on their own, entering farther and farther into the deepest part of the forest, allured by fresh grasses. The goats, cows and buffalo traveled from one forest to another and entered the forest known as Isikatavi. This forest was full of green grass, and therefore they were allured; but when they entered, they saw that there was a forest fire, and they began to cry. On the other side Balarama and Krsna, along with Their friends, could not find their animals, and They became very much aggrieved. (Krsna Book)

Similarly, if we don't pay attention to how our devotees are doing and don't invest in them, they might wonder off, and go farther and farther from the association of devotees, being allured by the promises of happiness in this world. And Krsna and Balarama will be aggrieved that we lost them.

So let us protect and nurture our devotees by taking nice care of them, investing our time and energy in them, and thus helping them succeed. I believe this will please Lord Krsna and Lord Balarama very much.

GITA AND SUCCESS

via GITA COACHING by akrura@gmail.com on 8/31/11

He who is satisfied with gain which comes of its own accord, who is free from duality and does not envy, who is steady in both success and failure, is never entangled, although performing actions. Bg 4.22

A sincere devotee of Krsna abandons all material sense enjoyment due to his higher taste for spiritual enjoyment in the association of the Lord. That is the great secret of success in Krsna consciousness or bhakti-yoga.

Without purification, one cannot attain success simply by changing dress into the sannyasa order of life.

The leaders of all world states should spread the science of Krsna consciousness so that the people may take advantage of this great science and pursue a successful path, utilizing the great opportunity of the human form of life.

Everyone is dependent for success upon Krsna's mercy alone, and all kinds of spiritual processes are but different degrees of success on the same path towards pure devotional service to God (Krsna).

HOW TO BE SUCCESSFUL?

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via GITA COACHING by akrura@gmail.com on 9/1/11

A Krsna conscious person is above duality because he does not hesitate to act in any way for the satisfaction of Krsna. Therefore he is steady both in success and in failure. These signs are visible when one is fully in transcendental knowledge.

One should follow in the footsteps of great acaryas who are in the disciplic succession and thereby attain success.

A Krsna conscious person has no desire for self-satisfaction. His criterion of success is the satisfaction of Krsna, and thus he is the perfect sannyasi, or perfect yogi. Lord Caitanya, the highest perfectional symbol of renunciation, prays in this way:

na dhanam na janam na sundarim
kavitam va jagad-isa kamaye
mama janmani janmanisvare
bhavatad bhaktir ahaituki tvayi
 [Cc. Antya 20.29, Siksastaka 4]

"O Almighty Lord, I have no desire to accumulate wealth, nor to enjoy beautiful women. Nor do I want any number of followers. What I want only is the causeless mercy of Your devotional service in my life, birth after birth." Bg 6.1

The yoga practitioner should be determined and should patiently prosecute the practice without deviation. One should be sure of success at the end and pursue this course with great perseverance, not becoming discouraged if there is any delay in the attainment of success. Success is sure for the rigid practitioner.

Regarding bhakti-yoga, Rupa Gosvami says:

utsahan niscayad dhairyat
tat-tat-karma-pravartanat
sanga-tyagat sato vrtteh
sadbhir bhaktih prasidhyati

"One can execute the process of bhakti-yoga successfully with full-hearted enthusiasm, perseverance, and determination, by following the prescribed duties in the association of devotees and by engaging completely in activities of goodness." (Upadesamrta 3) Bg 6.24

HOW TO NOT BE OVERWHELED BY OTHER PEOPLE'S PROBLEMS

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via GITA COACHING by akrura@gmail.com on 9/6/11

Q: When I speak to people about their problems, I get overwhelmed with or drained by their problems. What to do?

A: You need to change your perception of their problems and your role as a helper. The problems people face are not meant to crush them (or you). They are meant to help them learn, grow and become stronger. Your role is to help them see their problems as opportunities to make advancement and raise consciousness. Then their problems are not a burden even for them, what to speak of you. With that fresh spiritual perspective, their problems become an exciting challenge and opportunity.

The  best way to help people is to help them help themselves. In order to do that, they need to struggle in order to get stronger and wiser. You are not a problem solver but a facilitator of their growth and empowerment. In this way you do greater service for them then simply helping them.

SPIRITUAL WISDOM-Must Read!

BY BHAKTISIDDHANTA SARASVATI

1. We are put to test and trial in this world. Only those who attend the kirtana of the devotees can succeed.

2. Every spot on earth where discourses on God are held is a place of pilgrimage.

3. Possession of objects not related to Krsna is our main malady.

4. Let me not desire anything but the highest good for my worst enemies.

5. As dalliance with the body in luxury increases, so wanes the spirit of service of the Lord.

6. Those favored by God find their paths set by thorns.

7. There is no peace or happiness in our worldly life. Circumstances create turmoil and annoyance.

8. Chant the maha mantra loudly and with attachment. This will drive away inertia, worldly evils and pests.

9. Be indifferent to bazaar gossips, stick firmly to your cherished goals, no lack or impediments of the world will ever stand in your way.

10. Pay due respects to the extroverts of the world, but do not be appreciative of their manners and conduct. They are to be shaken off from your mind.

11. A devotee feels the presence of God everywhere, but one averse to the Lord denies His existence anywhere.

12. You cannot appreciate transcendental matters with the reasoning of the world. It is sheer nonsense to decry them with the measuring stick of your intellect.

13. To recite the name of Sri Krsna is bhakti.

14. Life is for the glorification of topics on Hari. If that is stopped, then what need is there to carry on life.

15. Physical illness with Hari-bhajana is preferred to physical fitness without Hari-bhajana.

16. Our span of life on earth is short. Our life will be crowned with success if the body wears out with constant discourses on Hari.

17. We are here on earth not to work as artisans for making big buildings with wood and stone but to work only as messengers for the teachings of Sri Caitanya Deva.

18. A sycophant (a person who acts obsequiously toward someone in order to gain advantage; a servile flatterer) is neither a guru or a preacher.

19. To transform the adverse desires of the jivas is the supreme duty of the most merciful. To rescue one person from the stronghold of Mahamaya is an act of superb benevolence, far superior to opening innumerable hospitals.

20. Unless we are devoted to God, secularism shall not leave us.

21. Look within. Amend yourself, rather than pry into the frailties of others.

22. In this world of Maya, averse to the Lord, full of trials and tribulations, only patience, humility and respect for others are our friends for Hari-bhajana.

23. The Lord, Gaurasundara, puts His devotees in various difficulties and associations to test their patience and strength of mind. Success depends on their good fortune.

24. When faults in others misguide and delude you – have patience, introspect, find faults in yourself. Know that others cannot harm you unless you harm yourself.

25. I wish that every selfless, tender-hearted person of Gaudiya Math will be prepared to shed two hundred gallons of blood for the nourishment of the spiritual corpus of every individual of this world.

OUR MISSION

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via GITA COACHING by akrura@gmail.com on 9/21/11

Our mission is that we want to see everyone happy.

Sarve sukhino bhavantu.

People do not know how to become happy. They do not take the standard path to become happy. They manufacture their own way. That is the difficulty.

Therefore, Ṛṣabhadeva gave this advice to his sons: "My dear boys, just undergo austerity for transcendental realization."

Everyone is performing austerity. This boy I know—he had to go to a foreign country to learn commercial management. Now he is well situated. In this way. everyone must undergo some austerity for future life. So why not take that austerity for permanent happiness?

You have to purify your existence and your body. As many times as you accept a material body, you will have to change it. But as soon as you get a spiritual body, there is no question of change.

You already have a spiritual body. Now, due to our material contamination, we are developing the material body. But if we associate with spiritual life, then we shall develop a spiritual body.

IF HE IS INTELLIGENT

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via GITA COACHING by akrura@gmail.com on 9/21/11

People are suffering. Let them have this knowledge and be happy. Our proposal is sarve sukhino bhavantu. That is Vedic civilization: "You all be happy."

The Vedic civilization is not "Oh, here is very nice, fat. Oh, you have got money. Let me exploit you and bluff you and take your money." That is not Vedic civilization. Vedic civilization is to think, "Oh, let everyone be happy." Sarve sukhino bhavantu: "Everyone be happy."

So we are preaching this Kṛṣṇa consciousness cult. It is not a cult. It is an actual, the fact for solving all problems. People should know. And if he is intelligent, he'll accept it. If he's intelligent. Because kṛṣṇa yei bhaje sei baḍa catura. Without being very intelligent, nobody can become Kṛṣṇa conscious. It is not possible. Less intelligent persons cannot do it. It is meant for the first-class intelligent men.

Srila Prabhupada

Lecture on Holy Name by HH.Jayapataka Swami Maharaj

The following is the lecture given by HH Jayapataka swami Maharaj in Chennai on 12th September 2011

 CC.Adi lila.7.73:

Translation: Simply by chanting the holy name of Krishna one can obtain freedom from material existence and simply by chanting the holy name of Krishna one can see the lotus feet of Krishna.

Commentary by HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaj

I am very happy. This week is the holy name week. This holy name is nondifferent from the lord.Thats why in  whole vrindavan  they chant the name of Krishna. When Krishna left the gopis in the rasa dance ,the gopis chanted hare Krishna. When yasoda was churning butter she chanted krishna's name."Golokera prema dana hari nama sankirtana".The chanting of the holy name of Krishna brings Krishna prema from goloka vrindavana. In Coimbatore 10000 people chanted the holy name. They chanted 108 times. Some said the voice inside them is repeating these names. When I was a new devotee in Montreal that time we went outside to maintain Srila  Prabhupada and ourselves. When I was working one workman fainted. So I chanted hare Krishna in his ear.Very soon he came back to his conciousness. He said the sound was like echo. This became louder and louder. It became much louder that it pulled him out. That sound filled the whole universe. That holy name is non different from Krishna. By chanting the holy name are you feeling spiritual bliss? Is that true? I heard that a program was conducted only for girls and they were chanting, dancing(mantra rock),feeling bliss.Recently I went to a program in Durgapur in NIT. There engineering students listened to all our presentations and lectures. Then I said how Lord Caitanya had given this process which is simply bliss. "sironmani kevala ananda kanda"I said prabhupada went to the west to give this process chanting hare Krishna, dancing, hearing some classes and eating some prasadam. Mahaprabhu has given this process chant and dance, move your chairs.Everybody danced and chanted.I went to srilanka the people asked me why are you always telling from Bhagavatam? Tell from skanda purana, siva purana. In skanda purana there is one quote. That is we should chant the two syllables hari.By chanting this hari, Krishna will steal from you all your sufferings, garbage, bad karma. Hari Hari Hari .If we chant the names of Gaura hari,Gaura hari nityananda, we get love for Krishna. So this process of chanting the holy names is mentioned in all the puranas. That was propagated by Lord Caitanya and Lord Nityananda. So they are supremely merciful."parama karuna bahuduhi jana nitai gaura Chandra".They are supremely merciful. That means parama karuna. They are the Lords.Incarnations of Krishna and Balarama.

They have nothing to achieve. They have everything. But they give their mercy. Locana dasa thakur recommends "bhajo bhajo bhai caitanya nitai".They tell us give up these illicit activity. Gambling, meat eating, intoxication, drinking wine, girls association. We are against illicit sex, but we are promoting families. On july 30th I read srila prabhupada letter "these children are sent by Krishna".We are very fortunate to help them on their spiritual platform. They are actually vaikunta kids. Brahmacaris and Sanyasis we can not help kids. So Prabhupada said don't be confused this is very important seva.? He wrote to Arundathi mataji if you don't have time to take care your child give up your pujari service. Ladies you must take care of your children.I am very happy to see here today nice kids. This is oneway of making devotees. But it also takes lots of time. Its not easy service. We should encourage them to take care of their children and make them very much positive to Krishna. So we give up illicit activity. We absorb ourself in the rasa of Krishna bhakti. Also we chant the holy names-yuga dharma. We are absorbed in Krishna consciouness and chant

" hare Krishna hare Krishna Krishna Krishna hare hare

hare rama hare rama rama rama hare hare".

Study my dear brothers you don't find no kind persons than these two with in the 3 worlds as merciful as nitai gaura Chandra.Even the animals are chanting.Stones melted. This actually happened.By Lord Caitanyas mercy the animals of jharikand also chanted hare Krishna. In the alarnath temple we also see how Lord Caitanya melted even the stone.Srila prabhupada said "Lord caitanya made animals to chant, you make atleast humans to chant.I like that all the girls are chanting. This is the week of the holyname. We have to see everybody chanting and dancing in bliss. Sukadeva Goswami says that this kaliyuga is the ocean of defects.Kalav dose nide rajan…It is not idly dosa. Its ocean of defects. But there is one good quality. What is that?

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare

Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare

Only one good thing. One good quality. If you are not chanting then what it is? Nothing good. I am also happy that Sumithra Krishna prabhu and many others are giving opportunity for everyone to chant the holyname. This chanting process not only free's us from maya but also takes us to the supreme destination. So please chant everyday. By chanting your life will be perfected.

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare

Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare

Prabhupada said you cannot chant any name of Krishna, any name of lord. When Prabhupada came to Calcutta in 1975,he mentioned that he talked to Islamic followers. Allah oh Akbar means parabrahma. So like that he told if you are not chanting hare Krishna you chant allah oh akbar.Like this Christians can chant the names of god in Hebrew. I heard in south America one Christian lady is chanting jeso Krishna jeso Krishna…Then she thought oh no one is watching, why not chant hare Krishna. Then she chanted   Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare

Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare

And she told this is the same and it is still more powerful. In our Vedas there is only one god. One parabrahma. He has unlimited names. So like that please make everybody chant. Especially this week. If they don't want to chant hare Krishna tell them to chant whatever name they like. It should be a name of god. So like this everybody should merge in the chanting of the holyname. Now ofcourse in india 80% are hindus more or less.So every Indian tell all of them to chant hare Krishna this week. Lord Caitanya when he visited the temples of karthikeya, ganesha, durga, shiva,Vishnu he chanted hare Krishna maha mantra. He also wanted to chant hare Krishna in all the temples. Demigods are pleased if we chant hare Krishna. Infact in shiva purana it is said chanting sahasranama is transcendental. Chanting one name of Rama is equal to the thousand name of Vishnu. It is spoken by lord shiva. If you chant one name of Krishna that's equal to three thousand names of Vishnu. You don't know that sloka? Lord Caitanya like to quote  from Brhad naradiya purana.Harer nama harer nama harer namaiva kevalam…So please engage everybody to chant. This chanting is very very powerful. We cannot under estimate how powerful is it. We cannot over estimate. Is there any question of the holy name which I answer? Srila prabhupada never converted anyone from his religion. He said we are not changing anyone but we are making them to believe fully. Christians believe in one god. We don't have to reject jesus. We respect jesus. But we chant hare Krishna. Jesus is a son of god we know. But Krishna is the father. This vaisnava religion is very great it brings all together.

We are conducting big programmes and making people to chant once and they are not coming again so what is the benefit we get from that?

Coimbatore youth said they asked the people to chant one round everyday.70% agreed to chant one round everyday. They got 3000 contacts .If some people accepts chanting, please tell them to chant everyday. Also from those who are interested try to take their names, contacts. Even if they chant one time it puts them in the orbit of Krishna. So like this also by chanting one time they are inspired they again and again also come in to the association of devotees.

How to practically increase the taste for chanting?

We should chant more and more. Also get the mercy of Lord Caitanya,Nityananda.

"Sri Krishna caitanya prabhu nityananda sri advaita gadadara sri vasadi gaura bhakta vrnda"

I met one man he was chanting 16 rounds for 26 years but he felt no taste. I asked did you chant the name of Lord Caitanya. He said no,I came from some other sampradaya. I gave this panca tattva mantra and he started chanting it first and then hare Krishna. After 3 months I came back to the same place. From a distance he came running he fell at my feet. With tears in his eyes he asked what mantra you gave me? Now I got taste to chant hare Krishna. Also srila prabhupada said someone who is too sinful he can chant the name of nitai gaur. Others give their mercy to their followers. But nitai gaur gives mercy even to the non followers. Jagai,Madhai they are not followers. They were very bad people. They were even antisocial enemies. They can also get the mercy of nitai gaur."Paapi thapi thaka chilo harinama udarilo tara sakshi jagai madhai". In katwa I saw the Samadhi of jagai, madhai. It was 200m from the ganges. Everyday they go there chant and dance. They will cry

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare

Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare

What mercy? What mercy? Please grab the lotus feet of nitai gaur.Haribol.

Last question.

How many rounds we have to chant to come out of the mental stress?

You keep on chanting continuously and tell me when it disappears.16 rounds works I think. Whoever chants 16 rounds daily they chant one crore names in one year.In one year you become a crorepati.12 rounds then 75 lakhs names,8 rounds 50 lakhs names,4 rounds 25 lakhs names. Exactly how many rounds removes the stress is the good experiment. I got so much bliss, on first day I chanted 32 rounds. So all my stress, all gone. So I don't want to ask. I am not the person to ask. It depends on how much anxiety, how much stress you have. Also you can chant panca tattva mantra. This will help you.

So thank you all very much

Get up! Prepare to fight and win glory-Bhagavad-gita As It Is | Part [BG.11.19]

Here comes the real personality development..you dont have to go anywhere but read Bhagavad Gita As It Is for developing you personality from the lower modes to the transcendental consciousness which is Krishna Consciousness. The Supreme Lord Himself gives the counselling. Who is more perfect than the Supreme Lord?

Bhagavad-gita As It Is | Part [BG.11.19]

TEXT 33:

tasmat tvam uttishtha yaso labhasva
jitva satrun bhunkshva rajyam samriddham
mayaivaite nihatah purvam eva
nimitta-matram bhava savya-sacin

TRANSLATION:

Therefore get up. Prepare to fight and win glory. Conquer your enemies and enjoy a flourishing kingdom. They are already put to death by My arrangement, and you, O Savyasaci, can be but an instrument in the fight.

PURPORT:

Savya-sacin refers to one who can shoot arrows very expertly in the field; thus Arjuna is addressed as an expert warrior capable of delivering arrows to kill his enemies. "Just become an instrument": nimitta-matram. This word is also very significant. The whole world is moving according to the plan of the Supreme Personality of Godhead. Foolish persons who do not have sufficient knowledge think that nature is moving without a plan and all manifestations are but accidental formations. There are many so-called scientists who suggest that perhaps it was like this, or maybe like that, but there is no question of "perhaps" and "maybe." There is a specific plan being carried out in this material world. What is this plan? This cosmic manifestation is a chance for the conditioned souls to go back to Godhead, back to home. As long as they have the domineering mentality which makes them try to lord it over material nature, they are conditioned. But anyone who can understand the plan of the Supreme Lord and cultivate Krishna consciousness is most intelligent. The creation and destruction of the cosmic manifestation are under the superior guidance of God. Thus the Battle of Kurukshetra was fought according to the plan of God. Arjuna was refusing to fight, but he was told that he should fight in accordance with the desire of the Supreme Lord. Then he would be happy. If one is in full Krishna consciousness and his life is devoted to the Lord's transcendental service, he is perfect.
