Developing a Stronger and Deeper Faith

Posted: 09 Jun 2011 03:01 PM PDT

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 2005)

So in this way, there is a natural choice. It is said that Krishna – He looks very fresh and old, and young, but he is the oldest of the oldest! He is the oldest and at the same time – he is the original person:

'Govindam adi-purusham',

So, the more we find out about him, the more theologically it also begins to make sense, and in this way our knowledge is growing and growing. The more we hear – the more our faith is also deepening, and the more we say:

" Well maybe…maybe there is something to it after all".

Then when we say:

"Alright let me try the experiment, and I'll start doing some devotional service".

So when we do that, then the result is that Krishna becomes attracted by our service, and the result is that He begins to reciprocate. He begins to take the initiative towards us.

So now it's no longer just book knowledge – no longer just hearing, but now it also begins to happen. There is practical experience, and there is actually realization coming, that Krishna is a reality – a part to deal with… a part to play with, and in this way people develop stronger faith in Krishna! In this way, eventually they will get very serious about it.….because sometimes you wonder:

"What is it that tips the balance? That makes people do it?"

But that's what it is, to actually get some practical experience of Krishna!

To Glorify Krishna

Posted: 09 Jun 2011 02:06 PM PDT

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, Melbourne, March 2011)

The best is to simply glorify Krsna and that's what Prabhupada did. He didn't care about such things like, where he was, or who the audience was. He would just glorify Krsna, and that's the essence, because the purity is the force – not intellectualism, if we are intellectually try to cater for the audience.  Prabhupada said:

"In our preaching, we are not trying to please audience, but we are trying to please Krsna. That's an important point!"

We are faithful to pleasing Krsna. We are not trying to present ourselves in such a way that the audience will be pleased. No! If we are in our speech we are trying to please Krsna, then automatically people will be attracted, because purity will be there – that is guaranteed.  So we should simply please Krsna!

Trust and acceptance

Posted: 09 Jun 2011 12:17 PM PDT

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, Radhadesh, May 2011)

Vaisnavas must develop relationships with one another of trust, of accepting each other.  Trust and acceptance – acceptance with our shortcomings, with our faults, knowing well that everyone has them and how difficult it is to come to pure devotional service.  How much effort it takes to become more and more purified – more and more effort!  And with that, we need to be more together.  We need to be much more together.

KKSblog.com - Touch the world

KKSblog.com - Touch the world

Touch the world

Posted: 08 Jun 2011 11:16 AM PDT

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, Durban – South Africa, April 2011)

We are not just a movement where all the energy goes into itself.  There is a danger that we become a group, and the group spends all its time keeping the group alive, and the group cooks for the group, and the group does plays for the group, and the group has kirtan, get-togethers for the group and so on.  That is of course, nice, but that's not enough.

We must always think, how can we flood the world?  How can we touch the world?  There is such a need – I don't have to tell you.  Everyone can see, everyone can see what a crazy world it is.  And everyone knows that only Krsna Consciousness is the solution.  No-one else has any solution, and people are looking for the solution – many people!  And if we present it nicely, in a reasonable manner, we will be surprised how many people will begin to listen.  And even if they're not ready to listen, still try.  Prabhupada was like that, always trying.

So this is something that is part of our movement – that we think in that mood of generosity, that mood of giving, because Krsna is suhrdam sarva-bhutanam, the well-wisher of all living beings.  We cannot see who lives on the other side of the hill, but Krsna can.  Krsna knows what every living being thinks.  Krsna is waiting for every living being to return back to Godhead.  That's His desire, there's no doubt about it.  So if we are the servant of Krsna, then we must do something, and we can do something in a way that is inspiring to us and inspiring to others.

A trip through Germany

Posted: 08 Jun 2011 02:06 AM PDT

From Heidelberg Maharaja went up north to Cologne, where he stayed for two days to attend the weekly Sunday program. After that he went east to Weimar to give a house program there. The program was small but it created a family atmosphere and was therefore really nice. Most time of the program was spent on bhajanas and Maharaja gave some short Krsna Katha in the end.

Just go forward

Posted: 08 Jun 2011 01:03 AM PDT

(Kadamba Kanana swami, October 2010, Sydney, Australia)

One should not go backwards; if we have committed to something even if you
haven't signed a contract, still one shouldn't go backwards in spiritual life. That is
part of spiritual culture. If we just make that a rule, 'I don't go backwards, I just go
forwards,' then that is quite a good vow.

Heidelberg Ratha Yatra

Posted: 07 Jun 2011 11:07 PM PDT

From Leicester Maharaja went to King's Cross in London to take a train to Radadesh, Belgium. Those were sunny and relaxed days, perfect to prepare for the upcoming Ratha Yatra.

Then, after three days, it was off to Heidelberg in Germany, where a very nice Ratha Yatra festival took place. Although it was a small Rathe Yatra cart, with small Jagannatha Baladeva and Subadra deities from Harinamadesh, it was perfect to take the procession through the shopping street in the inner city of Heidelberg. In this way the devotees, throughout the whole Ratha Yatra, proceeded through crowded streets and made lots of people hear the holy name of the Lord. The Harinama was powerful, led by glorious devotees like Bhakti Vaibhava Swami, Kadamba Kanana Swami, Ravindra Svarupa Prabhu and Vidya Vicaspati Prabhu. Enjoy!

Miseries are not Miseries

via Jyoti Pahuja's Facebook Notes by Jyoti Pahuja on 2/06/11

Because a devotee is freed from all contaminated material association, he is not affected by the miseries of material existence. Even though he appears to be in the material world, he is not affected by the miseries of the material world. How is it possible? There is a very good example in the activities of the cat. The cat carries her kittens in her mouth, and when she kills a rat she also carries the booty in her mouth. Thus both are carried in the mouth of the cat, but they are in different conditions. The kitten feels comfort in the mouth of the mother, whereas when the rat is carried in the mouth of the cat, the rat feels the blows of death. Similarly, those who are sādhavaḥ, or devotees engaged in Kṛṣṇa consciousness in the transcendental service of the Lord, do not feel the contamination of material miseries, whereas those who are not devotees in Kṛṣṇa consciousness actually feel the miseries of material existence. One should therefore seek the association of persons engaged in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, and by such association he will benefit in spiritual advancement. By their words and instructions, he will be able to cut off his attachment to material existence.

- Srila Prabhupada (SB 3.25.24 - Purport)

BUILDING SPIRITUAL COMMUNITIES

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via Gita Coaching by akrura@gmail.com on 5/06/11

By Janki Pandya

Deep down in every human heart is a hidden, longing, impulse and ambition to do something fine and enduring, to love and to be loved. Why? Because it is the nature of the soul, "sat-cit-ananda". Every soul is eternal, full of knowledge and full of bliss. Each and every person, in whichever corner of the universe we look in, is ultimately looking for love.

Do you ever wonder why the distressed people go to the temple? When they have had enough with the material world and they just want some love and peace, they will go to the temple. The temple is one place where they feel a sense of comfort and peace, by associating with the devotees, by doing darshan (seeing with respect and devotion) of the Deities, by honouring the prasadam (respectfully eating the sanctified food), many people actually feel that life has a meaning.

Our spiritual master Srila Prabhupada had said that people are not so interested in regularly attending churches, mosques, or temples. However, when people visit ISKCON temples, they are looking for that inner spiritual quest which they are not getting anywhere else, they are looking for the love and care which they have been searching for birth after birth, they are coming to receive spiritual enlightenment and inspiration from the devotees living there. Everybody is suffering from anxiety; therefore every devotee should be trained in the caring of devotees. There is no greater joy or reward than to make a fundamental difference in someone's life.
Here are some suggestions of how devotees can develop loving and trusting relationships in devotee communities worldwide:

RECEPTION

Temples could have special departments specifically for greeting guests when they visit the temple. Srila Prabhupada said that "anyone who comes to the temple is personally sent by Krishna". Therefore, devotees could welcome guests in that spirit. A trained group of devotees could be there waiting for the guests, however if there are not many guests, one or two devotees are adequate for the service.

The guests could receive a warm welcome from the devotees and they could be given a brochure which explains a brief overview of our philosophy, introduction of who Srila Prabhupada is, introduction of the Deities they have at the temple and a schedule of events that take place.

Srila Prabhupada has often emphasized the importance of prasadam; it will slowly melt the hard core hearts of the general mass of people and gradually re-awaken their Krishna consciousness. Therefore, every guest could be given caranamrita and prasadam (the mangal sweet, sandesh is known for converting people into serious, sincere devotees). At the end of their visit, the guests have already made friends with the devotees and they go home with a smile.

The devotees then keep in touch with the guests and basically do a follow up on them and cultivate them according to the degree they reciprocate. The next time they visit the temple, they will bring their friends and tell them, "I have a friend at the temple, let me introduce you to him/her". So in this way, everyone could be trained in the art of hospitality.

I have been personally introduced in this way to ISKCON, and it makes a huge difference because now you know that somebody is personally there looking after you and cultivating you and the faith in Krishna has been established and you will never want to leave the movement. So the personal touch must be there if we want permanent devotees.

COUNSELOR SYSTEM

Counselor systems for existing devotees could be set up in every temple. However, it should be emphasized that a spirit of trust and confidence should be imbibed. If devotees do not develop loving relationships with each other, then there is no question of loving Krishna. How can one love Krishna without loving his devotees? Every one of us practicing bhakti is going through purification and we all have our conditioned natures, but we can look at the higher cause and surpass the small differences and arguments we have with each other. Some of the ways of doing this are:

 Serve the devotee you do not like unknowingly or in public.
 Associate more with the person you have offended or don't like.
 Pray to Krishna to help you or pray to the devotee.
 Glorify the devotee.
 Approach a common friend of the devotee who is in good terms with you.
 Invite the devotees for prasadam at your house, make their favorite dish.
 Offer them gifts on special occasions, e.g., birthdays, wedding anniversaries, etc.
 Help the devotees during their difficult times, be there for them, they should not feel isolated
 Do service with the devotee together, the service will melt everyone's heart and whatever disputes they have had in the past will be forgotten.
 Dedicate or sponsor something in their name
 Don't judge devotees on their past, it is one of the worst things a devotee can do, and it will be neither pleasing to Krishna nor guru.
 Attend a Bhagavatam class of the devotee you don't like, and if possible ask a question. It will make the speaker happy and slowly melt his/her heart.

Srila Prabhupada has built a house in which the whole world can live. We have opened our hearts to do this. It has already been predicted by Caitanya Mahaprabhu that this Krishna Consciousness Movement will spread to every town and village in this universe.

Krishna's mercy is already there, all we have to do is simply become instruments to carry out and execute this message, and Krishna will empower us. But we have to give it our 110%. Between what happens to us and our response is a space, in that space lays our freedom to choose our response. Ultimately, Krishna has given us free will so it is up to us to use it intelligently.

"I DO NOT WANT TO GO TO SCHOOL"

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via Gita Coaching by akrura@gmail.com on 6/06/11

Suppose I am a little baby, and some worm is biting me. I cannot say "Mother" -- because at time I cannot speak -- "something is biting on my back." I am crying, and mother is thinking that "The child is hungry. Give him milk." (devotees laugh)

Just see how much this... I want something, and I am given something else. That is a fact. Why the child is crying? He is feeling uncomfortable. Then, in this way, I grow.

Then I do not want to go to school. I am forced to go to school. Yes. At least, I was like that. (devotees laugh) I never wanted to go to school. And my father was very kind. "So all right. Why you are not going to school?" I would say, "I will go tomorrow." "All right." But my mother was very careful.

Perhaps if my mother would not have been little strict, I would not have gotten any education. My father was very lenient. So she used to force me. One man would take me to school.

DEVOTEE CARE COMMITTEE PROMOTES THE CULTURE OF CARE

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via Gita Coaching by akrura@gmail.com on 8/06/11

The Devotee Care Committee (DCC) met during the GBC Strategic Planning Meeting held in Mumbai from 15-23 October 2008. Interestingly, the Devotees Care Committee was born of the Preaching Committee. Members of the Preaching Committees reflected that if the devotees are not well taken care then preaching would not have any lasting effect. They understood that preaching can attract people but it doesn't keep them.

The GBC body recognized the need to care for devotees individually and collectively and thus formulated the DCC. The first Committee members included Jayapataka Swami, Kavicandra Swami, Bir Krishna Goswami, Bhakti Purshottama Swami, Revati Ramana Das, Prasanta Devi Dasi, Achutya Priya Das and Chandrashekhar Das. Now there are many more.

Members of DCC realize that caring for devotees is a matter of consciousness and culture where every devotee is concerned about the needs of another devotee. In ISKCON we aim to promote higher understanding of the Absolute Truth and if devotees are unhappy then they would extend a similar spirit to the society at large. Vaishnava culture is a culture for caring and the DCC strives to create facilities through which devotees can access help whenever they need it.

The DCC plans to connect with devotees requiring assistance in various ways. The Committee will soon host a website which will include exhaustive information, resource guide and references of devotees and projects in various parts of the world. The DCC hopes to collect information and give access to the various resources available for devotees' needs.

The prime focus of the DCC is to instill and implement the idea that every devotee is cared for within the Vaishnava community. Sometimes devotees are insensitive to other devotees while in some cases devotees don't' want to express their concerns for whatever reasons. Either they think 'I don't want to complain to anyone' or they feel that nobody is interested.

There are examples were devotees don't feel cared for. For instance, devotees feel the Temple President doesn't care for them, wives think that the husbands don't care for them, some full-time devotees feel insecure about the future and the practical aspects of dealing with hospitalization, old age, etc. The DCC plans to address these and many more concerns of the devotees.

His Holiness Kavicandra Maharaja, a member of the DCC said, "Lord Caitanya stressed that Vaishnava seva is really important. We want to gradually work towards caring for devotees. When devotees realize that we care for them they feel a sense of belonging and can express what they feel and what they need. We want to realize this goal and work on every level possible to make it a reality. We want devotees to know that they are most important and projects is a result of people".

Devotee Care wesbite will soon be up at this link:

And here is a Devotee Care website of South Africa:

GOD IS PERPLEXED

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via Gita Coaching by akrura@gmail.com on 8/06/11

Just like the Christians go to the church for meeting the problems of bread; similarly, the Hindus or the Muslim, everyone goes to church, temple or mosque to pray something material:

"God, I am very distressed. Kindly get me relief from this distressed condition."

Or "God, I am in need of money, I am very poor. Kindly give me some money."

Or any other, "I am now implicated in war."

Just like Churchill, he introduced that everyone should go and pray for victory.

So England was also praying for victory, and Germany was also praying for victory.

So God is perplexed. (devotees laugh)

The thief is praying to God that "This night, I may steal without any hindrances."

And the householder is praying, "My Lord, thief may not come here and steal my goods."

And God has to adjust everything.

So just imagine how much busy is God.

There are millions and trillions of living entities.

Each one of them, if they are at all interested in God -- not all -- so they are praying.

Everyone is praying, "God, give me this benediction. Give me this benediction."

So this is not pure devotional service.

- Srila Prabhupada

KKSblog.com - The Concept of the Spirit Soul

KKSblog.com - The Concept of the Spirit Soul

The Concept of the Spirit Soul

Posted: 07 Jun 2011 03:14 PM PDT

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 2005)

In the spiritual world, the body is made of pure consciousness – pure spirit – there is no difference between the self and the body. Here there is the self and the body. Prabhupada did these kind of exercises, such as asking the most intelligent boy in the school program to come forward. So this one boy comes forward, with little round glasses and his hair is parted in the middle with some brylcreem in there – its all glued onto his head…nicely parted. He looked very intelligent…and he is about 12 or 11 years old.

Prabhupada asks him if he can ask him a question. The boy said:

"Yes….yes"

So Prabhupada points at his nose and he says:

"What is this?"

And the boy looks at him like totally incredulous and thinks:

"It cannot be true, that he is asking me this question! He's asking me a question as if I am a five year old. What is this?"

Prabhupada again, prods him and asks:

"What is this?"

Whilst in Prabhpupada's presence he said:

"The boy must point".

So the boy said whilst pointing:

" My nose….my chest…..my arm". And he goes like that around the body. Prabhupada said:

"Then where are you?"

Then he appeared to look lost, so Prabhupada said:

"Ok, now you can sit down."

It's like there is a total tension in the class. Everyone is shocked…you know! The genius of the class has just been smashed! And it's just like – he lost it, and everyone is in total suspense and thinking:

" What's going to happen next?"

Then Prabhupada is establishing that if the self is not the body, then who are we? He begins to introduce the concept of the spirit soul. So here in this world we are separate from the body. It s very dramatic the way Prabhupada did it!

No question of feeling separated

Posted: 07 Jun 2011 11:41 AM PDT

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, Durban – South Africa, April 2011)

How to become attracted to Krsna?  It comes naturally if we start to serve.  And serving means giving – giving ourselves, giving ourselves not for our own profit, our own gain, but for Krsna's interest and the interest of His devotees.  As soon as we start to act for Krsna's interest and the interest of His devotees, then after a short while, the higher taste in Krsna Consciousness begins to develop.  It comes automatically.

And that's what we see in those who simply take up devotional service selflessly and put other things aside, all other agendas aside.  They automatically become attracted to Krsna, and then comes even the amazing thing, and that is that Krsna becomes attracted to the devotee, because it is said that pure devotional service is Sri Krsna akarsani – it can attract Krsna!  Not only that we become attracted to Krsna, but that Krsna becomes attracted to the service of His devotee.  Then there is no question of feeling that Krsna is far away.  Then there is no question of feeling separated from Krsna.  Then one is with Krsna at all times and one lives in one's service to Krsna.

KKSblog.com - Intensifying Our Attachment to Krishna

KKSblog.com - Intensifying Our Attachment to Krishna

Intensifying Our Attachment to Krishna

Posted: 06 Jun 2011 01:30 PM PDT

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 2005)

At one point all the little attachments to Krishna, just begin to take over. It's just like certain games where you gradually fill up the whole board – like 'Go'…don't know if you have ever played 'Go', but you have the black and white pieces, and you put on more and more pieces. Eventually you fill up the whole board – well almost the whole board. So something like that, where the whole attachment is getting more and more dense! Just our whole life begins to be made up of attachments to Krishna:

'Sandra nandana vishaya satmanah'

And the attachment begins to intensify…deeper and deeper! So this is the purpose! So we begin in a humble way. Rome wasn't built in a day! It's a fact when they say:

"Rome wasn't built in a day!"

But have you seen Rome? Have you really seen Rome? It's something else. Come on….you know that Amsterdam is just a crummy City….New York is just glass and light…..just glass, steel, light and some stones! But what is there really? But with Rome – my God! Rome have their mosaics, and they are so fine that you cannot see any joints! Not just on the ceiling, but on the wall, and the mosaic panels are made of little coloured pieces of stones, glass and God knows what! But they are so intricately made that you cannot see any joints….that's not easy. So Rome wasn't built in a day, without a doubt!

So, we just begin humbly, and we begin to develop some attachments for Krishna, that's the idea – some attachments, and we do some – and how do we do it? By doing a little service without asking anything in return. That's exciting, and give it your best! You are giving it your best without anything in return, and that's when the devotion comes out and there is some taste in that – we develop a little attachment. You come to do it again……..and you do it again, so it becomes like:

"Yeah the taste is there!"

You begin……you continue, and it then begins to grow! So you do more of it……more and more!

'Sandra nandana vishyaya satmanah'

Until the whole 'Go' board is full of pieces and gradually it is covered with attachments to Krishna in different ways! So we are working towards that goal!

No more darkness

Posted: 06 Jun 2011 01:07 PM PDT

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, Durban – South Africa, April 2011)

The more we are chanting the maha-mantra, the more we are becoming freed from the sinfulness of Kali, and that is of course the first benefit of chanting – that one becomes freed from the influence of ignorance and darkness.  One meaning of the name Krsna – 'Krish' is dark and 'na' means no – no more darkness.  So 'Krsna' means that we become free from the influence of ignorance in the material world.  Then comes the other translation of the word 'Krsna', which means – 'Krish' for a person or the one who can attract, and 'na', for ananda, for happiness.  Then we come to (Sanskrit) the higher taste in Krsna Consciousness, where we become attracted to Krsna.

To Always Glorify Krishna

Posted: 06 Jun 2011 12:10 PM PDT

(Transcribed by Yamuna Devi Dasi)

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, Melbourne, March 2011)

In one of the first 'Back To Godhead' – on the front page there was a picture of a butcher, who was attacking a cow with an axe.
Prabhupada said:

"What is this?"

"Well…it's an article against meat eating".

So Prabhupada said:

"We are not against anything. We are for Krishna! So, it is not our business to be against this and against that! No, it is our business to be for Krishna, and for Krishna means no meat, because Krishna doesn't accept meat."

But, we are not singling out so many things – we are against this, and against that. No Prabhupada said:

"We are for Krishna".

Our standard is simply for the desire of Krishna. Whatever Krishna desires, and that is in the Bhagavad Gita, where he makes his desires clear!

Also when dealing with Kali Yuga, we cannot just spend all our time saying:

" How horrible people are, how degraded people are, how corrupted people are and so on".

That will take us away from Krsna. If we talk the whole day about how bad the Kali Yuga is, then how much will we talk of how wonderful Krsna is?

In that way you become what you deal with! That's very dangerous! Therefore, we should simply focus on our own business, and that's the strength of our movement! We are simply going to glorify Krsna everywhere and always!

Star flowers.

Star flowers.

jahnavi | June 7, 2011 at 3:08 am | Categories: Uncategorized | URL: http://wp.me/p1Fgd-aJ

When I'm traveling I try and keep at least my morning walk consistent. While I walk I chant on my japa beads. It's always my favorite part of the day. When I was young, we'd always pick flowers on any walk to take home and put on our altar. The habit is firmly stuck, and I try and find an altar space or a deity, or a dear friend to give a flower, whenever I'm out.

I found these unusual star flowers the other morning while I walked around the upscale suburbs of New Haven, Connecticut.

Now I'm back New York city, where I crave trees and flowers like a tall drink of water on a hot day. As I walk through the streets, bustling and clouded with smoke and noise, it's a delicious surprise to come across a cool, green walled garden. Or even a stray rose, peering over a fence.

Mobile phone safety The real truth about the hazards, told by independent scientists

Mobile phone safety The real truth about the hazards, told by independent scientists

Source : http://www.psrast.org/mobileng/mobilstarteng.htm

SUMMARY

A considerable body of evidence proves, beyond reasonable doubt, that microwave radiation from mobile phones and cordless phones cause a significantly increased risk for brain tumors. In addition, increasing evidence is indicating that it causes disturbed brain function, damage to the genes and other disturbances..
The reason is that present safety norms allow the use of mobile phones that emit far too strong radiaton to be safe.
These safety norms are contradicted by scientific evidence. Research indicates that much weaker radiation than what is allowed in mobile and cordless phones may have harmful effects.

Conclusion

  • You should be very restrictive with using mobile phones and cordless phones. Reduce the usage to very few and brief calls. In stead, use landlines as much as possible.
  • People below 20 should use mobile phones that allow SMS messages only, but no talking, because the risks are far higher in young people.
  • Further buildup of the mobile phone net must be stopped. Steadily increasing evidence indicates that it is too harmful to be acceptable for common usage. Moreover, it has been repeatedly confirmed that the radiation from base stations is harmful to health.

(Kadamba Kanana Swami)

The Caitanya Caritamrta is the very essence of everything! The Caitanya
Caritamrta is the one book that provides us with our identity.

Sometimes when we are looking at the Pandavas and all of the other heroes
of the Mahabharata they are impressive. Arjuna can fight with ten thousand
men, and that's quite the number. Just think about it ten thousand is a
big number! He can singly defeat ten thousand men. Is there any Arjunas
here?

We are lucky if we can defeat one, right? I always say that there are two
types of people in this world those who are strong and those who are fast!
You know what I mean! With Bhima, do you realise that he is stronger then
Asterix and Obelix?

Do you realize that even Spiderman is nothing compared to Bhima, who is
stronger then ten thousand elephants. I saw Spiderman having a lot of
trouble stopping a train, but if you have strength of ten thousand
elephants then you just knock the train off the railway track! That is if
you want to.

So, my point is that although the heroes of the Mahabharata and the heroes
of the Bhagavatam are very amazing, with wonderful personalities. In some
ways they are further away from us, but when we look at Caitanya
Caritamrta, we find that we are dealing with devotees who are like us. Many
are grhasthas by maintaining their families, and yet they are chanting Hare
Krsna!

In the Caitanya Caritamrta, we are following the process of chanting Hare
Krsna, and by following the four regulative principles. Therefore, more
than anywhere else in the Caitanya Caritamrta, we find our identity as
practitioners. After all we are following the process of sadhana bhakti
this is also outlined in the teachings from Rupa and Sanatana, which are
very essential chapters in the Caitanya Caritamtra. In these teachings we
find how the process of sadhana bhakti is outlined – or devotional service
is practised. The Caitanya Caritamrta in particular addresses pure
devotional service, where one is naturally attracted to Krsna.

This World is a Fools Paradise!

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 2005)

It's difficult to think that this world is paradise. Even on LSD the world
was a paradise – for a while and then it went the other way! I did take it
and I particularly know how it feels. It was in an exotic Country, and I
thought:

" I hope there are no snakes in these fields".

The next moment, I saw a whole field of snakes…all these snakes! The whole
field was full of snakes! I thought:

" Stay calm… turn around. Just turn your back and look the other direction!
Just look in the other direction!"

And there were no snakes on the other side…lucky. What if there would have
been snakes on the other side. It could have been easy to stay calm and
walk away. So, what can we say! Anyone who thinks that this world is
paradise….Srila Prabhupada says:

" He's right! This world is a paradise! It is…. fools paradise! It's a
fools paradise!"

So therefore, one who is looking for knowledge begins to think deeper and
sees that happiness is the distress in this world, and then says:

"What's the point in trying to enjoy it, when you are destined to get
distressed".

Therefore we want some liberation. We want some relief from this distress!

When to devote ourself to the Lord?

When in childhood there's attachment to playing, in youth there's
attachment to the opposite se&family affairs, in oldage to worldly
problems in the society. When is the time to get attached to the
Lord&His service? Thats why Prahlad Maharaj says this Devotional
Service has to be cultivated from the tender age of 5yrs.

Ganges@home?

One may cleanse himself daily by taking a bath in water, but if one
takes a bath even once in the sacred Ganges water of Bhagavad-gita,
for him the dirt of material life is altogether vanquished.
