Do you want to go your Mother?

Krsna's pastimes in Vraja are filled with loving sweetness evoked by the Vrajavasis. What sweet mood would cause the Supreme Personality of Godhead to utter the words, "Do you want to go to your mother?"
Srila Jiva Gosvami describes kumara Krsna's playing with Balarama and Their friends in the Vrindavana forest just after they have begun to care for the young calves.

Sri Jiva describes:
"After arranging that the calves eat the green grass that surrounded them, the boys playing until lunchtime. At that time Krsna and Balarama played Their flutes. They and Their friends hurled fruit and other projectiles at each other, kicked each other with angling-anklet-adorned feet, and enjoyed mock-fighting pastimes in imitation of bulls fighting amongst themselves.

They enjoyed water-pastimes, and, decorating themselves with forest-ornaments, They wandered about. The two brothers became filled with wonder upon seeing the varieties birds and animals within the forest. They playfully began imitating the sounds of the animals, but when They imitated the roar of some dangerous forest-beast, Their friends became, for a moment, frightened. They then enjoyed pastimes of wrestling. Grabbing each others' heels, they made a great commotion.

Krsna and Balarama continued to watch as the calves ate grass and drank water. Krsna approached one calf, massaged the calf's face and limbs, hugged the calf, and said in the calf's ear, "Do you want to go to your mother? I will take you to her."

Losing everything for Krishna is a Gain

Posted: 25 Jan 2012 12:40 PM PST

yasyaham anugrhnani harishye tad dhanam shanaih - Krishna says if I especially favour anybody then I take away everything from Him. That is Krsna's special favour, akincana vittaya.. when one becomes finished of all material opulence. To lose material opulence for Krishna's sake is not loss but it is a great gain. When one is akincana then Krishna becomes the only riches. This position, Krishna except yourself, I have no posession - this position is very nice, when we simply depend on Krishna - that is first class position of Krsna Consciousness. The result is that when one takes only Krishna as His posession, immediately he is posted on the transcendental position and at that time He becomes happy with Krishna. When we become dependant on Krishna, we become self-satisfied with Krishna.

Thoughts for the day!

Thinking about Thoughts
I have been reading Bhakti Tirtha Swami's Leadership book. Here are a
few interesting thoughts on thoughts: … People are responsible for the
energy they generate. Much of this energy takes the form of thoughts,
words and deeds. Although people easily perceive their words and
actions and frequently observe their impact, they may be tempted to
believe that their thoughts have no effect. However, they would be
mistaken. Although invisible to the naked eye, thoughts are things.
They are individual electrical entities that group themselves with
similar energy to form clusters. They are real; they are substantiev;
and they are a force that everyone can learn to balance and control…
Nothing exists unless it is sustained by thought. Therefore, the
easiest way to control and manipulate energies is by thought
processes. People can control their words adn actions simply by
changing theway they think… p48/50 Monitor your thoughts carefully. As
you think of someone lovingly, angrily or lustfully, note how that
person becomes unconsciously affected by your energies. p62 March 2,

Ornaments and Scars The behaviour of a disciple can be an ornament
for or a scar on the reputation of the spiritual master HH Radhanath
Swami

Milk and Lime water Reflections 5: Srila Bhaktisiddhanta's 64
principles for community, by Bhakti Tirtha Swami Principle 31 Although
the activities of a devotee and the misdemeanour of a pseudo-devotee
appear to be alike, there is a heaven and hell of difference – like
milk and lime water. …Although surrender never depends on work, we
want our internal life to correspond with our external life. A person
might try to solely think of Krsna without doing any service, but if
he or she has the ability, the person should act. Krsna, who resides
in the heart, knows the degree we are holding back. Krsna knows what
He has given us and knows what we have. He is watching to see what we
are going to do with what He has given

Four Principles of Community Building& The Four Principles of Balance

Four Principles of Community Building
1. Treat everyone you encounter as if the success or failure of your
spiritual life depends on the quality of your interactions with them.
2. Think of the personyou love the most and aspire to treat everyone
with that same quality of love.
3.View all conflicts as your own fault first.
4.Realize that people in your present environment might very well be
the people with whom you will live out your life and who are likely to
be with you at the time of death. - His Holiness Bhakti Tirtha Swami

The Four Principles of Balance
1. Place more emphasis on having loving Vaishnava relationships. See
all interactions as a cry for love or an extension of love.
2.Go the extra mile to care for and protect women and children. The
Bhagavatam mentions that when elders, brahmanas, cows, women, and
children are not protected, not only does the individual who does not
protect them suffer, but the entire community suffers.
3.Keep a healthy balance between spiritual and material life, but make
sure the second supports the first.
4.Remain loyal to Srila Prabhupada's movement (to God, Sri Krishna)
but do not be sectarian. We remain loyal to Srila Prabhupada's ISKCON
but to respect all Vaishnavas, all persons, all living entities. - His
Holiness Bhakti Tirtha Swami

Bhagavad-gita As It Is | Part [BG.14.04]

TEXT 4:

sarva-yonishu kaunteya

murtayah sambhavanti yah

tasam brahma mahad yonir

aham bija-pradah pita

TRANSLATION:

It should be understood that all species of life, O son of Kunti, are made
possible by birth in this material nature, and that I am the seed-giving
father.

PURPORT:

In this verse it is clearly explained that the Supreme Personality of Godhead,
Krishna, is the original father of all living entities. The living entities are
combinations of the material nature and the spiritual nature. Such living
entities are seen not only on this planet but on every planet, even on the
highest, where Brahma is situated. Everywhere there are living entities; within
the earth there are living entities, even within water and within fire. All
these appearances are due to the mother, material nature, and Krishna's
seed-giving process. The purport is that the material world is impregnated with
living entities, who come out in various forms at the time of creation
according to their past deeds.

BTS: Are we part of the problem or the solution; dealing with grudges, anger and disturbances-Part - 1

"Question: Can you discuss the distinction between feeling disturbed
and holding a grudge?' Answer: Try to understand the meaning of the
word "grudge" which goes beyond a feeling of disturbance. It is not
our view to accept any concocted standard and consider it ok. No. We
have a spiritual science with specific standards, and we are supposed
to constantly examine and analyse: what is the siddhanta (proper
conclusion), what does the sastra say, what is the proper activity of
sadhus, what is the guru's instruction? We have to be very
scrutinizing and not neglect the structures and standards. Parampara
means knowledge transmitted from the spiritual realm, coming down
through the disciplic succession. We have definitive standards.
However there is a difference between trying to rectify an improper
behavior for the benefit of the other person, or seeing that improper
behavior and just becoming angry and vindictive toward a person. In
the second case, we are creating the disturbance. Instead, we should
find a way to make a positive change. We can find ways to talk to
people more productively, help them serve in better ways, or see what
we need to change in ourselves so that we can better facilitate our
peers. We can often change others by changing something within
ourselves. That will have a powerful effect on those we associate
with. We can approach people and think, "What do I need to do to help
this individual get free from their bad habits? What do I need to
change in myself to instill trust in the heart of a person, to inspire
them to work with me more? What do I need to do to help this person be
more of a team player?" We tend to think, "What does this person need
to do for me so that I can trust trust him?" If both parties are
thinking in a humble way, it is easy to have harmony. If both parties
refuse to think humbly, at least someone should think that way. The
humble person will make all of the difference. It does not matter
which one of us thinks that way. "What do I need to change in myself
to help improve the situation?" Whoever is thinking in that way will
have a positive effect, and they are going to advance more than the
person who is mired in negative considerations. Such negative persons
remain at narrow limits and are not thinking outside of themselves. We
need to think, "What do I need to change in my mentality so that
things will be better between this person and me?" It is unhealthy to
think, "What do I need to do so that this person will accept what I
want? What do I need to do to get this person out of my life?" We want
to forgive others; we want to help others; we want to understnad
others because we want to be forgiven and helped and understood
ourselves. If we are not ready to reach out and help others, why
should someone help us? You would be suprised how many bums in the
streets were once wealthy politicians or businessmen in previous
lives. Because of so many sinful activities, they have become like
vagabonds, street derelicts. Srila Prabhupada told us that an
astrologer saw the destination of Nehru, who had been a prime minister
in India, and an extremely matterialistic individual who was attracted
to western culture and insulting towards spiritualists. The asrologer
saw that this leader came back in his next life as a dog living in
Sweden. The astrologer claimed that the Swedish man had two dogs and
one of them was Nehru. Nehru was attracted to Western standards and
values, and apparently he took birth in one of he most materially
developed countries in the world, which, as a nation, is characterized
by atheistic values. He came back in a plush, economically strong and
financially sound country with values opposed to spiritual life, as a
dog. This is an extreme example, but it indicates to us that we do
want to develop deeper compassion, because we see that people are
undergoing heavy karmic reactions due to offenses or other kinds of
deviation. The result is that they are placed in a very unfortunate
state of existence. We do not deny the fact that such an existence is
wretched, but at the same time we may be creating a wretched situation
for ourselves when we hold a grudge against another devotee with whom
we do not agree. We do not have to agree with them and we do not have
to accept what they are thinking. However, if we are holding a grudge
and are not trying to understand how that devotee is feeling and
thinking, then there is a tendency to think: "That person bothers me.
He or she simply gives me trouble in my mental or physical space." It
is almost as if we want to expose that person and show just how
ridiculous he or she is. We want revenge because we feel that he or
she has caused us some inconvenience and disturbance. It is a matter
of changing the polarity and not being simply absorbed in thinking
about our own security, shelter, or confidence. We need to examine
what else is happening here.
