I am feeling all vacant in the world in Your absence.

yugayitam nimeshena
cakshusha pravrishayitam
sunyayitam jagat sarvam
govinda-virahena me

O Govinda! Feeling Your separation, I am considering a moment to be like twelve years or more. Tears are flowing from my eyes like torrents of rain, and I am feeling all vacant in the world in Your absence.

In this world there is nothing so sublime, I have nothing to do here but to work in Your consciousness. I have had enough by embracing the illusory energy. It's always kicking in one way or the other no matter how nicely I embrace the illusory energy. But it's a must to know that You love me too.

Yours
Dinesh

Renunciation of actions or actions in knowledge, which is the best?

Impure heart and idle senses go ill together, so karma sannyasa (giving up the activities for fear of reactions and attachment) is very difficult for if the practitioner gets any desire to work with his senses, he is forbidden to do so. On the other hand working for the pleasure of The Lord in devotional service allows the practitioner to safely use the working senses and purify the heart gradually which is practical today. By working without attachment for fruitier results one's transcendental knowledge gets strengthened and he steadily goes towards direct, pure devotional service with full conviction. No one should give up work for fear of bodily discomfort or when there is no sufficient purification of heart. At least to maintain the body a person has to do some activity in this world.

How long we will have to tolerate the pushings of the mind and senses?

Devotees often wonder how long we will have to tolerate the pushings of the mind and senses. Sometimes, they think maya will finally give up on them and leave them alone, and that one morning we will wake up a liberated soul. This verse informs us, however, that we must continue to tolerate sense attraction until death.

We can remain tolerant by fixing our consciousness on Krsna. The pleasure of Krsna consciousness combined with the conviction that nothing in this world can bring lasting happiness will help us tolerate the pushings of the body and mind.

How will we be able to tolerate these urges of senses and mind over a long period of time?

Srila Prabhupada writes: "Unless one is able to relish happiness from within, how can one retire from the external engagements meant for deriving superficial happiness? A liberated person enjoys happiness by factual experience. He can, therefore, sit silently at any place and enjoy the activities of life from within. Such a liberated person no longer desires external material happiness. This state is called brahma-bhuta, attaining which one is assured of going back to Godhead, back to home."

We must get a higher taste. It is urgent. We have to hear, chant, and find good association. Otherwise, how will we be able to tolerate these urges over a long period of time?
