Bhakti Yoga-Devotional Service to the Supreme Lord Sri Krishna

Regulated life with knowledge is blissful, unregulated life in ignorance is miserable

I had a doubt earlier that how in the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna says, "I shall now declare unto you in full this knowledge, both phenomenal and numinous. This being known, nothing further shall remain for you to know" - BG#7.2. I wondered many times how can there be such a thing as we are limited tiny entities. But I heard once in SB class from HG.Rasaraj Prabhu, that as we get purified in the path of devotional service, we get the eyes to see supernatural things like demi-gods wandering in the sky etc. It's all by the mercy of Krishna that one gets that level of realization and even further. In SB also we can find when Dhruva Maharaja is performing austerities and after chanting the mantra for 7 days and 7 nights(if I remember correct) he was able to see flying beings in the sky. One time Srila Prabhupada says in the morning walk that he just visited sun planet and came back.

Therefore when we are in complete knowledge of the self, Supreme, nature, enjoyer, consciousness, we will not tend to act in ignorance or atleast we wont like to do abominable things.

"Humility; pridelessness; nonviolence; tolerance; simplicity; approaching a bona fide spiritual master; cleanliness; steadiness; self-control; renunciation of the objects of sense gratification; absence of false ego; the perception of the evil of birth, death, old age and disease; detachment; freedom from entanglement with children, wife, home and the rest; even-mindedness amid pleasant and unpleasant events; constant and unalloyed devotion to Me; aspiring to live in a solitary place; detachment from the general mass of people; accepting the importance of self-realization; and philosophical search for the Absolute Truth — all these I declare to be knowledge, and besides this whatever there may be is ignorance"-BG#13.8-12

When we are not using the resources of the material world in an enjoying spirit and when we see through the eyes of the scriptures, we will not be allured by the illusory energy anymore. Because for a person who has controlled his mind, the Supersoul is already reached.
The more we try to enjoy the senses, the more we suffer and bring suffering to those around. The process is very simple and sublime. All we have to do simply chant Hare Krishna and be happy.

Most of the times the problem is with the mind of the person who doubts the process. "For a doubting soul there's happiness neither in this world nor in the next"-BG.  The process is perfect but the practitioner needs to associate with those who are following the process with firm conviction or who has made this their life and soul.

I personally see that I had a tough time in India as well when I was thinking to setright the situations that are provoking us in mind, body, emotional platforms. We can never put off this fire which is blazing since time immemorial in our countless number of lives. If something is consuming much of our time, from our devotional service we should somehow solve the problem if it's simple or else get rid of that simply. If a problem has solution why should we worry, if a problem doesnt have a solution, then also why should we worry, because this world is full of miseries and problems. We still need a to have peaceful atmosphere to perform our sadhana effectively with respect to the house we live and the work we do.

We may be disconnected from those we consider to be our dear and near but the supersoul always exists in every atom through out the Universe. So wherever we go if we live in harmony with the Supreme Lord, the nature and accept the Supreme Lord as the only enjoyer of all that is manifest and unmanifest, we will have peace for sure.If a person cannot be peaceful how can there be any happiness?

Simply the endeavor to enjoy this body and resources of material nature gives so much pain due to hankering and the anxiety of attaining it. It's really a miserable thing to attain anything in this world for our satisfaction. I was suffering travelling a long hours to get to the workplace in India, now I travel in 10-15 mins but still the problems are not solved. There are other things like cooking, washing clothes etc which consume so much time as well. But it's true that travelling too much is not good for physical and mental health. But still because I am not acting against the religious principles, there's internal peace.

Krishna is fulfilling the desires of the souls wandering across the brahmandas. So we need to be very careful in dovetailing our desires inline with Krishna's desire. Because Krishna is seated within the heart, he knows us very clearly even if we are not revealing our heart to anyone here. He fulfills the desires of all the souls but for His devotees, He is very special-Bhakta Vatsala(dear friend to His devotees). He guards His devotees from ignorance and helps him in His path of perfection. He is the maintainer of all the worlds and by His potency the whole manifestation floats in the space and now your ability to read this post is also provided by the Lord.

The term "Regulative principles of freedom" should make more sense to me now atleast to my dull mind.

Seek what you can do for devotees and not what devotees can do for you.

Seek what you can give to devotees and not what devotees can give you.

Seek what you can sacrifice for others and not what can be sacrificed for
your sake.

A kindergarten teacher has decided to let her class play a game. The teachertold each child in the class to bring along a plastic bag containing a fewpotatoes. Each potato will be given a name of a person that the child hates, sothe number of potatoes that a child will put in his/her plastic bag will dependon the number of people he/she hates. So when theday came, every child brought some potatoes with the name of the people he/shehated. Some had 2 potatoes; some 3 while some up to 5 potatoes. The teacherthen told the children to carry with them the potatoes in the plastic bagwherever they go (even to the toilet) for 1 week.
Days afterdays passed by, and the children started to complain due to the unpleasantsmell let out by the rotten potatoes. Besides, those having 5 potatoes also hadto carry heavier bags. After 1 week, the children were relieved because thegame had finally ended.
The teacherasked: "How did you feel while carrying the potatoes with you for 1week?"
The children let out their frustrations and started complaining of the troublethat they had to go through having to carry the heavy and smelly potatoeswherever they go. Then the teacher told them the hidden meaning behind thegame.
The teacher said: "This is exactly thesituation when you carry your hatred for somebody inside your heart. The stenchof hatred will contaminate your heart and you will carry it with you whereveryou go. If you cannot tolerate the smell of rotten potatoes for just 1 week, can you imagine what is it like to have the stench of hatred in your heart foryour lifetime?"

GIRIRAJA SWAMI

Giriraj Swami read and spoke from Srimad-Bhagavatam 10.14.38 on Saturday morning in Dallas, Texas:

Know that Lord Krishna sees everything. He is with us at every moment. He is within our hearts as the Supersoul.

He is within every atom and in the space between the atoms. He is everywhere. So we are never alone. And if we surrender to Him, we have His merciful protection wherever we are. We have to have that faith. Otherwise there will be a disconnect between our practical lives and Krishna's lila.

We think Krishna's pastimes are very nice stories. We get the children's versions and read them to our little ones, and it is all very sweet. But in our practical lives we may not actually have faith that Krishna is with us, that He will protect us, that He will maintain us. We are worried — who will protect me? Who will maintain me? — because we are not fully cognizant of Krishna's opulence.

We are not conscious that Krishna is everywhere, all- pervading, all-seeing, all-knowing, all-powerful, and above all, that He is our best, well-wishing friend.

Bow and Arrow

The Vedic mantra pranava is the bow, the pure living entity himself is the arrow, and the target is the Supreme Being.

The living entity tries to be happy within this material world, not understanding the target of his life. When he is purified, however, he gives up his bodily conception of life and his false identity as belonging to a certain community, a certain nation, a certain society, a certain family and so on (sarvopadhi-vinirmuktam tat-paratvena nirmalam [Cc. Madhya 19.170]). Then he takes the arrow of his purified life, and with the help of the bow -- the transcendental chanting of pranava, or the Hare Krishna mantra -- he throws himself toward the Supreme Personality of Godhead.

If with the arrow of chanting the holy name of the Lord one pierces Lord Vishnu's lotus feet, by dint of performing this heroic activity of devotional service one receives the benefit of returning home, back to Godhead.
