Make your phone Krishna Conscious. Well I guess that a few of these applications have got to go, and could put some KC music, some KC lectures on there and pictures of devotees. In this way we purify the phone. Is your computer a devotee or a karmi? You may have joined the Hare Krishna movement but did your computer also join the Hare Krishna movement? We have to shave him up! Then gradually only pure things come out of the computer!

Even the shopping has to be purified. Pure shopping. Pure unadulterated shopping, with total dedication. You have to put your heart into the shopping. You have to shop with your heart towards things that are only related to Krishna! So if you can use it for Krishna then buy it. Otherwise forget it, it's rubbish! In this way we purify everything – every aspect of our life! Everything has to be a sacred space.

Is there satisfaction in this material world?

(H H Kadamba Kanana Swami, Nove Sady, Czech Republic, 14th March 2012) Lecture: SB 11.5.32

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura, (one of our great spiritual masters) once said:

'Even if a man has all the women in the world he will still not be satisfied.'

And to the women he would say:

'The perfect dream man doesn't exist. He doesn't exist. Sorry, that prince, he will never come! I am very sorry.'

Maybe he'll come anyway. Let's be honest he didn't even look like a prince. So this is how it is in the world where we are never satisfied. When women are frustrated with the men, generally their mood is:

'Men are useless!'

And with the men, well what shall I say about the men? They are not faithful! So therefore we can see that there is so much glorification in the world, such as love, which is not as nice as it is in the movies!

Anything in this world, such as being rich, for instance someone like Bill Gates, the richest man in the world. Who has ever seen Bill Gates? Has anyone ever seen Bill Gates in public? Does Bill Gates even exist? How do we know? I have never seen a picture of Bill Gates. So like that when you are very rich then you cannot even go out in public, since there are always people who want to kidnap you. When you are very rich then you cannot trust anyone! Everyone is smiling at you, and is after your money. I mean it must be terrible to be rich. One can just imagine of being so isolated from other people. Not that we want to be poor, but we are not poor. Nobody is so skinny. Everyone looks like they are doing okay. We could use a bit more but there is never an end to it. When you have more of something, then you still want something more. So in this way we can't seem to find satisfaction in this material world.

It's like me and my secretary, have been travelling worldwide for a year and we travel all the time from place to place. And sometimes you get into a particular state of mind:

'Well only two more days and then it's time to go to the next place.'

Then you arrive at the next place and you say:

'Well only three more days before I go to the next place.'

And at each time you think:

'It's not so nice here, and it's not so nice there.'

It's too hot, too cold, it's too this and it's too that. Sometimes the bed is too hard and at other times the bed is too soft. Sometimes the blanket is too short, and the last time the blanket was enormous! In New York it was such a big blanket, that the through the entire night I was fighting with the blanket. So it's like that in the material world. Who has it perfect? Who can say:

'Oh my life is perfect!'

It's like we just have to accept it as it is. At a program I once asked the public:

'Is there anybody out there who has it all under control?'

And one man raised his hand and he had a band-aid on his finger! What can you say? You kind of have to accept things as they come, and try to make it a little bit better…

People have seen that no matter what you do, you really can't be satisfied in the material world! When they are fortunate and get some knowledge then they will be able to understand that real satisfaction comes from yoga! Yoga means to add Krishna to your life, to connect with the Supreme Lord

'yoginām api sarveṣāṁ
mad-gatenāntar-ātmanā
śraddhāvān bhajate yo māṁ
sa me yuktatamo mataḥ,' (Bg, 6.47)

Krishna says:

'The topmost yogi is he who connects with me!'

So this will make a difference!

There's no need to go here and there. Just worship Krishna. Serve Krishna. Offer what we eat to Krishna. Whatever we do, then do it as an offering to Krishna, and the result is that you will become peaceful. Nothing else works!

My father tried the bottle it didn't work. He never became peaceful. My brother tried something else that also didn't work since he didn't become peaceful either. And I don't think that the guys in the casino are very peaceful. I don't think that erotic shops make you very peaceful , but it is the Bhagavad Gita that makes you peaceful!

Do loving relationships work?

(H H Kadamba Kanana Swami, Nove Sady, Czech Republic, 14th March 2012) Lecture: SB 11.5.32
When you get involved with people in loving relationships, then it's not easy. If both are worshiping Krishna, then it may work. But if there is no Krishna and only relationships with people, well then forget it! I will tell you that you will have a hard time, because then everyone is thinking of himself, and then he is thinking:

'She is here for my enjoyment!'

She is thinking:

'And he's here for mine.'

And the whole relationship is about pulling at each other – who's going to work for who? Who's the boss? Krishna is the boss, He really is, so what can you d, since we are not, because we are not in control.

Therefore, we have to accept that Krishna is in control, He is the Supreme controller. So when the spiritual element is there within the relationship, then the relationships begins to work; then an aspect of selflessness enters into the relationship and that is the essence!

A reflection of our consciousness

Make your house a holy place! I once visited someone who had painted all the walls black, and the door blood red! It was intense. If you live in a place like that then what will happen to you? I was wondering that:

'What would happen to you if you live in a room where everything is black and the doors are red?'

You feel like dressing up as Dracula! So a room has an influence on the consciousness. What goes on your wall goes in your head, and in your heart, since it affects your consciousness. Then you have all the hocus pocus, and you have to put the water pot in the north east corner of the room. But that also improves the atmosphere of the house. So living in a house is not just about:

'Well, okay I have got to put my shoes somewhere. We need a bed and a table.'

No, the house is a reflection of our consciousness and it also affects our consciousness…If we put all transcendental things in the house then we start to feel transcendental! And not just in our house but also in our life. So in this way we build a spiritual life.
