Don't Miss The Train!!

"Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakura, a great acarya in te Brahma Madhva Gaudiya line, mentioned that those people who live close to the railway station miss the train more frequently than others. They tend to think,"The railway station is right here, just next to my house and i can go there anytime. "But when the train comes, they rush to get there, and before they reach, the train leaves.

On the other hand, someone who is living far away thinks, "Oh, I have to go one hour ahead to get the train." So he reaches the railway station well ahead of time and waits there.

Similarly, we should not be lazy or negligent with our spiritual life thinking that we are in India, the holy land. Then we may miss the vimanam, going to vaikuntha. We should book our ticket well in advance and be prepared to go to the spiritual world.

Caitanya Mahaprabhu says that in kaliyuga, to get a ticket you simply have to pay the price.Do you know what the price is ?

We have to chant the holy names, Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare / Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare.

Why Do We Shout In Anger?

Why Do We Shout In Anger?

A saint asked his disciples, 'Why do we shout in anger? Why do people shout at each other when they are upset?'

Disciples thought for a while, one of them said, 'Because we lose our calm, we shout for that.'
'But, why to shout when the other person is just next to you?' asked the saint. 'Isn't it possible to speak to him or her with a soft voice? Why do you shout at a person when you're angry?'
Disciples gave some other answers but none satisfied the saint.

Finally he explained, 'When two people are angry at each other, their hearts distance a lot. To cover that distance they must shout to be able to hear each other. The angrier they are, the stronger they will have to shout to hear each other through that great distance.'

Then the saint asked, 'What happens when two people fall in love? They don't shout at each other but talk softly, why? Because their hearts are very close. The distance between them is very small...'

The saint continued, 'When they love each other even more, what happens? They do not speak, only whisper and they get even closer to each other in their love. Finally they even need not whisper, they only look at each other and that's all. That is how close two people are when they love each other.'

MORAL: When you argue do not let your hearts get distant, do not say words that distance each other more, else there will come a day when the distance is so great that you will not find the path to return.

Hate the sin, but love the sinner-Must Read!!!!!

Hate the sin, but love the sinner

22.09.2009

Criticize cheaters and swindlers, not struggling devotees

And that too with care and a sympathetic heart

Don't shout on his face, "you are a hypocrite"

Speak pure principles in a general gatherin

Don't focus too much on his external deficiencies

Appreciate his good past and sincere intentions and deeds

If you come down on him with force to prove him bad

You will break his heart, discourage him to become mad or sad

Don't make a fault, to counteract another fault

Then what makes us different from the one we criticize

Mend him, don't break him' Srila Prabhupada said

We want him to continue as a devotee till death

If operation is successful but patient is dead,

what have we accomplished by that bogus bet?

Lord is the owner, we are His sincere servants

Let us act on His behalf and not think we are autonomous

To err is human and to forgive is divine

Punish him with love, not to delight in his misery

Krsna is the Supreme Emperor of all sweetness

Sri Radha is His intimate and beloved sweetheart

Lord Caitanya is Sri Krsna in Radharani's mood

Then how can we deliver bitter goods?

We are not yamaraj, to chastise the sinful

We are Prabhupada's dog to safeguard his sweet will

We are dealing with Krsna's servants, however sinful they may be

Let us do it with care and caution, with no offences and prejudice

If punishment does not purify a person's heart

But pains him and make him pretentious in deeds

With bitterness for superiors and fear of authority

Then Prabhupada and acaryas will not be pleased

To hate the sin and love the sinner

Is the prerequisite for a punishment awarder

Pride and arrogance, wrath and revenge

Disqualify one from being a vaishnava leader

Pray to the Supreme Lord and beg Him for the right wisdom

Seek the shelter of Guru for spiritual strength and mercy

With humility at heart and good wishes for sinner

Approach the issue with Guru, Sadhu and sastra.

SPIRITUAL LIFE IS LIKE HOSPITAL STAY

PROCESS OF PURIFICATION MAY BE PAINFUL IN THE BEGINNING
ANALOGY - SPIRITUAL LIFE IS LIKE HOSPITAL STAY
When we go to the hospital it doesn't mean that when you walk in the door,
you are free from disease. Usually after you walk into the hospital there is
more pain than before we walked in. I walked into a hospital last week, I
was feeling quite when I walked in. But soon I was on an operating table,
they were cutting organs out of me and they were sawing me up and soon I was
lying there and soon they were asking me how many painkillers I want. Lot of
pain, so many restrictions, so many problems. So when you go into a hospital
as a patient, you can expect that things are going to get worst before they
are going to get better. Because that is the process of taking out the
disease. Restrictions of diet, restrictions of movements. And then you are
not even allowed out until they discharge you. Very difficult. So similarly
spiritual life is like coming into a hospital for the heart. And it is going
to be a lot of difficulties that we wouldn't have to deal with if we just
remained in the diseased condition without trying to solve.

Glories Of Navadwip Dham!

Glories Of Navadwip Dham

Excerpt from Navadwip Dham Mahatmya by Bhaktivinoda Thakur: Conversation between Lord Shankar and Mother Paravati.
"O Paravati, anyone who hears with devotion how Lord Gauranga traversed Navadwip with His kirtana party will never again fall into the ocean of material existence. O Paravati, you will not find any place comparable to Navadwip, any form of the Lord comparable to Gauranga, nor anything comparable to krsna-prema. The success of life, particularly for Vaishnavas, is attained in Navadwip by worshiping the Lord following the path of the inhabitants of Vraja."Shaving the head, fasting, shradha rites, bathing, and charity, which are prescribed at other tirthas are not prescribed in Navadwip. If one performs any pious activities in Navadwip, the effect is quickly dissipated, because all the knots of karma are cut. Just by seeing the Supreme Lord Gaurasundara, the knots in the heart are cut, as all doubts and material reactions are destroyed. O Paravati, for this reason the sages take shelter of Navadwip and perform pure devotional service to the lotus feet of Rädhä and Krsna. They see the various forms of the Lord in the different islands, sing the names of the Lord, and bathe in the waters of the Ganges. With great devotion they spend nine days visiting the nine islands and pass their lives in bliss while taking maha-prasada."If anywhere in Navadwip a chandala offers vishnu-prasäda to Lord Brahmä, he will certainly eat it. Even if the prasäda is dried up, stale, or brought from a distant place, one should immediately eat it without consideration of proper or improper time. In taking Gauranga maha-prasada, there is no rule concerning purity of place, giver, or receiver. O Paravati, if a person takes Gauranga maha-prasada up to the throat, he will develop devotion to Gauranga. In eating gaura-prasäda, there is no consideration of the fault of overeating."There is no consideration of fitness for hearing the glories of Navadwip. Dying in other tirthas gives either material enjoyment or liberation, but dying in Navadwip gives pure devotion to the Lord. In Navadwip there is no consideration of a faulty death-at an inauspicious time, in pain, in the house, or by accident. Death at other tirthas while practicing yoga or death in Kashi while absorbed in impersonal meditation become insignificant when compared to death in Navadwip."Living in Navadwip for one day is better than living in Prayäga, Varanasi, or any other tirtha for a kalpa. Whatever results one obtains by yoga, one achieves in Navadwip. With every step one attains the results of great sacrifices, and by lying down and sleeping in Navadwip, one gets the results of offering obeisance's. Just by taking an ordinary meal in Navadwip, one gets the results of eating the Lord's remnants. So, what more can I say regarding the faithful person who is devoted to chanting the holy name and taking Gauranga's remnants with faith and devotion?
