To enjoy or to serve?

Posted: 10 Sep 2011 04:12 PM PDT

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, Finland, 2011)

Even with Vrindavan, there is a danger that we can become the enjoyer of Vrindavan, rather than in the mood of serving in Vrindavan. So there are many who are going to Vrindavan, not only in the mind but physically, enjoy Vrindavan:

'Oh Vrindavan….Vrindavan….Vrindavan!'

Even in Vrindavan one must always say:

"Well, what service can I do?"

The topmost level of devotional service

Posted: 10 Sep 2011 04:48 AM PDT

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, Berlin, September 2011)

The topmost level of devotional service is not to serve Krsna directly, because, in the topmost level of devotional service, one realises that what service can I render to Krsna to please Him?

"What is my capacity to please Krsna?  I am so limited!  I am small and insignificant, so even if I would render the greatest service that I could possibly do, even if I would go beyond all my limitations, and go to the maximum of what I can do and make the very best offering that I can, what is the meaning of it in comparison to the offerings that Srimati Radharani makes?  In comparison to the offerings the gopis make?  Therefore, the best I can do is act as an assistant."

(Sanskrit) So, in this way, to assist the assistants a hundred times removed from Srimati Radharani – that is the essence of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu's teachings.

Floating stones of Lord Sri Ramachandra

Here in the attachment you can find the floating stones at Rama Kund in Rameswaram temple. This stone which weighs about 10-12 Kilos is floating in the Rama kund in the temple tank. This is demonstrated by HH.Bhakti Vikasa Swami Maharaj.

It's not a big wonder that a simple stone is made to float by the Supreme Lord Sri Ramachandra. Because the Lord is making the planets which are so big containing the oceans and mountains in the Universe float in the space, not even water. The foolish scientist cannot make any such wonders but the Supreme Lord is the perfect scientist and the perfect mystic.

Lord Shri Ramachandra Bhagavan Ki Jai

Hari Om Tat Sat!!!

KKSblog.com - A world of difference

A world of difference

Posted: 09 Sep 2011 05:06 PM PDT

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, Finland, 2011)

I was travelling to India, and there was a lady sitting next to me who was a yoga teacher. She was going to India for training with Iyengar. She was a serious yoga teacher, because Iyengar is serious yoga.

So anyway, she was a serious person, wasn't just in general but a thoughtful serious person. We had a nice discussion and she was interested in Krishna Conscious and everything, but I didn't immediately tell her that I was from the Hare Krishna Movement, since I was just preaching.

Anyway she said:

"So, actually what are you?"

So then I explained:

"Well okay I'm a member of the Hare Krishna Movement".

"Oh…no! Oh no… oh Hare Krishna…oh no!"

So I asked:

"Well, what happened to you? Did you have a bad experience with the Hare Krishnas?"

She replied:

" Oh…oh…I got so badly cheated. You know I have one problem. I cannot say no!"

So you can just imagine a sankirtan devotee found a lady who just couldn't say no!

So she got a full set….the whole set….the complete everything…all the small books and everything. I don't know how much she paid but, she must have paid thousands for it. Then her husband came home later, and there was a big drama! She spent thousands on these books, and these books they had been standing there…and they are like the joke of the family. Whenever there was a family gathering, they have to make some jokes about her books:

"Oh! Look at them! They're they are!"

She cannot throw them away, because she spent so much money on them. So how can you throw them away. The books were just standing there to testify for her stupidity…now she got cheated! So this is the story she had told me on the plane, and then I said:

"Well, how do you know that you got cheated? Did you read them?"

She replied:

"No…actually no…I never read them".

So I said:

"Why don't you read them…maybe they're really nice…if you read them and find them really nice, then you can tell your whole family":

'Actually I didn't get cheated they are good books…they're really nice'.

She said:

"This is great! I'm going to read these books!"

So sometimes just a conversation with someone can make a world of difference – that is also giving!

The happiness of others

Posted: 09 Sep 2011 04:14 PM PDT

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, Finland, 2011)

Happiness is natural. It is said that,

'Anandamayo 'bhyasat', – every living being by nature is looking for happiness, and every living being is meant to be happy! So the art though is to know that the greatest happiness is to see happiness in others. If by our actions we can create happiness in others – that is greater than if by our actions we are concerned with our own happiness. And the greatest happiness is found, when we are trying to please Krishna! When we are trying to make Krishna happy, and then with all others, when we give them Krishna….then we give them happiness!

So there in giving happiness is found and not in taking. So we have to get out of this mentality:

"What's in it for me? What am I getting out of this? I've been a member of Iskcon for so many years – so what am I getting? I am disappointed…no really. I had expected more! First of all, I thought that devotees would be more elevated. But now I know the truth! I just thought that really there would be much more support… I thought that I would get much more support. If I would have known that I would have gotten only so little support than I wouldn't have started this…so little!"

So the mentality is:

"What am I getting? I'm not getting enough. I'm not getting what I need. I'm not getting".

But actually, we have to think:

"What am I giving? I should give?"

And if we start to think about this 'giving' then automatically the happiness follows…automatically!

Hear the cry of the soul!

Hear the cry of your soul...
We are spirit souls possessing material body and not that we are body
and we have a soul.
The nature of the soul is to always be happy but because the soul now
is bound by the gross and subtle bodies, the soul is feeling great
discomfort like a fish on the sand.
No matter How much wealth you have. No matter How beautiful your wife
is. You can never be satisfied by these material elements which are
covering the Actual self,soul.
The soul can only be satisfied when serving the Supreme Lord. Without
connecting the self with Supreme Lord,it's not possible to remain
satisfied and happy. By reviving our dormant God consciousness, all
birds, beast, men, everyone will feel the bliss in their heart of the
hearts. That's the only solution to all problems of the world.
Everyone will understand that we are children of God and universal
brotherlihood will be the result.
Hear the cry of the soul and reunite with the Supreme Lord to become happy...

A MONKEY for 20 days!

In Holy Braj, no, it is not good,
To maintain material mood.
Those desires me now killing,
As if they stopping my breathing.

I am in the topmost place,
In the holiest land in all universe.
It is Radha and Shyama Kund,
Crest jewel of all which are around.
The foolish monkey is me,
For saintly people as like enemy.
Everyone busy with Holy Names,
Loudly chanting: Radhe! Radhe!
All came to serve, all came to chant,
To feed their Bhakti plant.
Surrounding Sri Govardhan they do penance,
Walking around with not a step but obeisance.
24 hours some do sing,
The Holy Names as a Holy song.
2-3 drops some take from Kunds,
To purify forever their bodies and souls…

Echo in Krishna's ear

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via Gouranga-Epistle Of Love by Maral Alimova on 8/19/11

-Do you hear this sound, Arjuna?
-Which sound? No, I do not hear anything.
It was long after battle of Kurukshetra. Arjuna and Krishna were sitting together and Krishna opened His heart to His friend. He told that still I hear the crying voice of Draupadi calling My Name: "Hey, Govinda!" This echo is still there in my ear and heart. And every time I keep Myself ready to run to help to her."
-----------------
When Draupadi was put before the assembled guests of Hastinapur in not suitable form and cruel hearted Duhshasana wanted to take her sari out she, crying, started to beg for the help. She asked for the help to the most powerful warriors like Bhishmadev, Dronacharya what to say about her own husbands?! For that time, even being an emperor, Dhiratashtra refused to help her. Then loosing her hope for anyone, Draupadi thought she will protect her herself.
When Duhshasana shamelessly started to pull her sari she tried to catch her sari and stop him. Later she understood that her strength is nothing comparatively to Duhshasana's. She remembered Krishna, that He only can help her. That He is only dearest Friend and real Protector of helpless. Draupadi catching with one hand her sari and another holding up, cried out:
-Hey, Govinda!!! Hey, Govinda!!!
Within last moments, she was in the stage of being disgraced to whole society. What to do? Who will help her?
Realizing that she can not do anything, loosing her hope for her own endeavors she surrendered to the will of Krishna.
Crying loudly, holding both of her hands up, she called:
-Hey, Govinda!!!
Only You can help me!
-Hey, Govinda!!!
Please, beg You, hear me!
-Hey, Govinda!!!
Oh, dearest Friend, my only Shelter! Please, do not neglect me!!!
Of course, Krishna is with us always. Every moment He is waiting us to turn our glance towards Him. He never leaves us alone, because He knows that we are being insignificant may be lost in this huge creation.
We should understand that whatever difficulty we see in our life is only for our benefit. Difficulties are there to give to us a lesson and the understanding that only Krishna can help us.
If we even once call the Name of Krishna with full faith and surrender to Him, He will deliver us. He will take us to His lap. Pure sound of His Holy Names uttered by sincere Devotees with shivering voice will create echo in His ears.

At least Krishna appeared in Mysore

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via Gouranga-Epistle Of Love by Maral Alimova on 8/30/11

Exactly 365 days ago there were nearly 10 Devotees in whole Mysore who used regularly chant the Holy Names and attend the Sunday Programs. Even among them only 5 were real residents, others were comers.
Disciples of His Holiness Jayapataka Swami Maharaja His Grace Ananda Dham Prabhu (from Mumbai) and his good wife Vijayakamala Mataji (from Madurai) settled in a rented room in Mysore, just to organize here preaching programs. With the financial help of other Devotees they rented a half house as a ISKCON registered Temple. Devotees installed Deities of Sri Sri Goura Nitay and take care of Them.
There are also other Devotees who a from other cities. Who do their jobs and schoolings here in Mysore. Other times they also fully engaged with book distribution, Deity worship etc.
One day for me also was given chance to distribute books. It was my first time. I thought I will enjoy doing that, thought that everyone will buy Srila Prabhupada's books. They are so interesting, with pictures…It was Ekadashi, sunny day. As usually Indian people adore to visit Temples on weekends and take darshan of different Deities of the Lord or Demigods. We also knowing that, hoped to see crowd of people at the Balaji Temple and all our books, needed staffs there.
We made a small shop on the table. Some Prabhus stood over the table and started to distribute books. But with Vijayakamala Mataji we were asked to stand in front of the out door and distribute books there.
By the time lots of people started to come to the Temple. They used to stand in the long line for hours and hours, just to see the Lord. Some of them had half broken coconuts, lemons. Some of them had garlands made of Tulasi leaves.
At the outdoor Temple pujari used to offer a plate of Prasadam to those guests. That door was tight enough, because of that filled with crowd. After standing in lines for several hours, afterwards this crowd made people tired. They did not even have strength to look to our books.
Sun was scorching with heat, books were getting heavier and heavier, stomach started to beg for food, but we were determinate to distribute even only a book.
-Bhagavad Gita! Please, Bhagavad Gita!!! J
No response!
3-4 hours past. My smile became dry, as if I was forcing my face muscles to smile and create friendly contact with others. Energy was gone. Back could not stand straight anymore and shoulders began to refuse to hold my head…
-please!!! At least one of you take one book!!!
Sun set, lights turned on, but for our fortune people were coming and going still.
-Enough!!!
I thought not to beg but to force people to take the mercy of the Lord Gouranga. Now for the this time took only 5-10 small books and stood right before the comers.
-You should take this book! And your life will be changed!
-You should!
-You have!
Unfortunately, most of population did not understand English. Some of them joined their five fingers and touched their mouth saying to me that they do not have money for food, how they can buy these books.
-Oh, dear Krishna! Please, do something!
People were going, I used to stop them and give book to their hands and with enthusiasm forced them to take.
ONE PERSON TOOK!!!
Oh my God! Some more people took!!! Yes! It works!
Then again pause for several minutes.
I thought these people are tired of so called religions, swamijis. There are so many of such like organizations. Some of them were victims of pseudo religions, pseudo gods…HOW DIFFICULT NOW TO BRING THEM TO THE REAL PATH??? I understood that here in India to preach is far enough tuft comparatively to other countries.
To teach the taught one is far more difficult than that one who does not know anything.
Sometimes I just wanted to catch from the collar of some of them and say:
-Hey, rascal! You spend money for tobaccos why not to take this mercy and change your life?
-Hey, rascal! You have money for buying a pure Mysore silk sari so why not to take this and to become free from all sufferings? …
Despite to these difficulties, these Devotees not loosing their hope, patiently preached everyday. Some distributed books till late nights. His Grace Ananda Dham Prabhu used to give classes on Bhagavatam and his wife used to cook for Deities, Devotees and guests.
Within a year, more than 20 new Devotees joined Krishna Consciousness. They started to chant the Holy Names in beads. They became pure vegetarians, started to observe Ekadashi and to regularly attend the classes. Among them most of them were from Enforces Organization.
For Janmashtami Devotees rented a big hall and kitchen in one old Temple. Some of us were busy with cooking, making garlands and some of us decorating the Temple in order to welcome guests of Krishna. Matajis were busy with cooking for more than 1000 people: cutting fruits, vegetables, braking jaggery, washing huge amount of rice.

All the Devotees including new comers fasted till midnight in order to use their all 24 hours in the service of Krishna and His guests.
The festival began! Guests started to come and listen the Kirtans, take darshan of Deities, even to do Abhishek.
1000 plates which we had had all used and gone!
What to do? Prasad was finished!
But guests' comings and goings continued till midnight.
Immediately prabhujis brought again 1000 plates, along with items for re cooking. Matajis, firmly tied their belt and marched to cook again.
Amazing!
At the end we had wonderful Kirtan, where everybody loudly chanted and danced.
AT LEAST KRISHNA APPEARED IN MYSORE!

Each visitor were given chance to swing Gopal.
This event finished with taking Ekadashi Prasadam. After that guests had gone. But Devotees stayed for other 2-3 hours for cleaning the rented Temple and giving back the key to the owner.
Now Mysore Devotees pray and hope that one day they will have opportunity to build a house for Sri Sri Radha Krishna and invite Them to stay there for accepting their love and devotion!
All glories to the Holy Names!!!

Meditating on the Lotus Feet of the Lord

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via GLORIOUS KRISHNA by Jyoti & Vidya on 9/7/11

Sri Sri Radha Shyamsunder (Sri Vrindavan Dhaam)

The mind of the conditioned soul, on account of its association with the material energy from time immemorial, contains heaps of dirt in the form of desires to lord it over material nature. This dirt is like a mountain, but a mountain can be shattered when hit by a thunderbolt. Meditating on the lotus feet of the Lord acts like a thunderbolt on the mountain of dirt in the mind of the yogi. If a yogi wants to shatter the mountain of dirt in his mind, he should concentrate on the lotus feet of the Lord and not imagine something void or impersonal. Because the dirt has accumulated like a solid mountain, one must meditate on the lotus feet of the Lord for quite a long time. For one who is accustomed to thinking of the lotus feet of the Lord constantly, however, it is a different matter. The devotees are so fixed on the lotus feet of the Lord that they do not think of anything else. Those who practice the yoga system must meditate on the lotus feet of the Lord for a long time after following the regulative principles and thereby controlling the senses.

- Srila Prabhupada (SB 3.28.22 Purport)

Grace of the Lord and His Devotees

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

Srimad Bhagavatam 1.5.28

TRANSLATION
Thus during two seasons-the rainy season and autumn-I had the opportunity to hear these great-souled sages constantly chant the unadulterated glories of the Lord Hari. As the flow of my devotional service began, the coverings of the modes of passion and ignorance vanished.
PURPORT
Transcendental loving service for the Supreme Lord is the natural inclination of every living being. The instinct is dormant in everyone, but due to the association of material nature the modes of passion and ignorance cover this from time immemorial. If, by the grace of the Lord and the great-souled devotees of the Lord, a living being becomes fortunate enough to associate with the unadulterated devotees of the Lord and gets a chance to hear the unadulterated glories of the Lord, certainly the flow of devotional service takes place like the flow of a river. As the river flows on till she reaches the sea, similarly pure devotional service flows by the association of pure devotees till it reaches the ultimate goal, namely, transcendental love of God. Such a flow of devotional service cannot stop. On the contrary, it increases more and more without limitation. The flow of devotional service is so potent that any onlooker also becomes liberated from the influence of the modes of passion and ignorance. These two qualities of nature are thus removed, and the living being is liberated, being situated in his original position.

Progressing in Spiritual Life by Attachment to Saintly Persons

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via GLORIOUS KRISHNA by Jyoti & Vidya on 9/8/11

At the lotus feet of the Lord we will find all of the Lord's devotees. We will also find complete instructions as to how to best approach these lotus feet in pure consciousness. By incorporating these instructions within our lives, we will attain the Lord's shelter, His eternal service, and His eternal abode.

Early on in the 1st Canto Narada narrates his own story, how he personally became transformed from 'rags to riches', or from worldly insignificance to a superlative exalted state of spiritual perfection. The details of his transformation are of great pertinence to our own efforts on the bhakti path. One of the Argentinean sankirtan devotees visiting here in NY just asked me, in a very sincerely expressed inquiry, if it would be possible for them to actually go back to Godhead at the end of this life. YES! This is the gift that the Bhagavatam offers, and Srila Prabhupada expressed his explicit desire to train us to achieve this goal within our lifetime. The highlighted traits and qualifications marking Narada's sojourn are most important for us to note very carefully.
The preliminary character traits of Narada certainly helped his progress; as for ourselves, we should value and attempt to gradually manifest such qualities for the purpose of attracting the mercy of elevated souls and Krishna Himself to shower their descending mercy upon us.

Key in all of this narration is the statement found in 1.5.25 purport, where Srila Prabhupada declares: There are many things which hinder one from entering devotional service. But by the association of pure devotees all these obstacles are removed. The neophyte devotee becomes practically enriched with the transcendental qualities of the pure devotee, which means attraction for the Personality of Godhead's name, fame, quality, pastimes, etc. Infection of the qualities of the pure devotee means to imbibe the taste of pure devotion always in the transcendental activities of the Personality of Godhead.

The #1 gift which a student/dependant can receive from their superior is to attain attachment for Krishna, Krishna-katha, and the sublime taste of pure devotion. And then- This transcendental taste at once makes all material things distasteful. Therefore a pure devotee is not at all attracted by material activities.
- His Holiness Romapada Swami

Teachings of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur Prabhupada

Question: When a devotee is born in a family, does that family benefit from his or her birth?
Srila Bhaktisiddhanta: When a great saint, a pure devotee, appears in a family, then his ancestors and descendants for a hundred generations each are elevated. When a devotee of the middle stature (madhyama bhagavata) appears in a family, then his ancestors and descendants for fourteen generations each are elevated. When a neophyte devotee appears in a family, then his ancestors and descendants for three generations each are elevated.

Question: Why are devotees sometimes born in low class families? If devotees are not subject to the results of their actions (karma), then why are they sometimes illiterate or disease ridden?
Srila Bhaktisiddhanta: Devotees are never subject to the result of their karma. It is by the will of the Lord that they take birth and perform other pastimes. But when it is seen that they are born in low class families, are illiterate, or are disease ridden, we should know that there is a great or noble purpose behind it. If people saw that devotees were always born in high class families or were always strong or educated, then they would become discouraged. So the merciful Lord, in order to benefit people of all classes, sends his devotees to different classes of society to give his mercy to other living entities. This is something like catching a wild male elephant by sending a trained female elephant. Srila Vrindavan Das Thakur has said in the Caitanya Bhagavata that a vaisnava delivers everyone just by taking birth. In a land and in a family where a vaisnava descends, many hundreds of miles around that place become purified by his influence.
Even if you see some external misery in a vaisnava's life, you should know that he is in great ecstasy. Those who are blinded by pride in their material possessions do not know any of these things. Intoxicated with pride in their education, money, and family, they do not recognize a vaisnava.
If a devotee appears in a low-class family, then we should not think that it is a result of his sin that he was subject to the result of his action. Rather, we should know that he has purified a low-class family. If a good person becomes successful only in the devotional process, then we should consider him a great soul.

KKSblog.com - Our prayer to Srimati Radharani

Our prayer to Srimati Radharani

Posted: 08 Sep 2011 10:52 PM PDT

When we approach Srimati Radharani, all we can say is 'please, throw some mercy my way.' She is the one who can give us the mercy of pure devotional service.

(Kadamba Kanana Maharaja, 6 September 2011, Berlin)

The greatest ecstasy

Posted: 08 Sep 2011 03:06 PM PDT

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, Berlin, September 2011)

It is often said that the devotee is not desiring anything in return for his service, and that is a fact.  The devotee is not asking for any reward from his service.  It's not that we are doing this service so that we can eternally enjoy in the spiritual world – that we do the service as an austerity and are waiting for the reward.  We chant Hare Krsna and then we will be showered with the mercy.  No, the chanting of Hare Krsna is the mercy, as we just experienced for the week, the never-ending chanting of Hare Krsna.

So in this way, the service just carries on.  But the devotee does have a desire.  In the Caitanya Caritamrta it is said that a devotee is selfless.  He can simply serve, life after life, in the material world, but Krsna still takes him back to Godhead.  Because Krsna knows that in his heart of hearts, the devotee has a desire to go back to the spiritual world.  Krsna knows that in his heart of hearts, the devotee has the desire, the desire to see a spark of pleasure in the eyes of Krsna in response to his service rendered.

Some recognition – that is the greatest ecstasy.  If we make offerings to Krsna and Krsna appreciates or relishes that service, what greater ecstasy could there be?

Falling into a comfort zone

Posted: 08 Sep 2011 06:02 AM PDT

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, Finland, 2011)

We should not fall into a comfort zone where we think:

"Well, I've only been a devotee for five years, so you cannot expect much from me. I mean in the future maybe, but now I'm struggling with material desires and that's normal, because I've only been around for ten years. Everybody after ten years are struggling with material desires… so I am normal….but no! I am not! I am crazy! I am mad! Because I am struggling with material desires…. I am diseased….I'm conditioned I'm:

'Nūnaṁ pramattaḥ kurute vikarma yad indriya-prītaya āpṛṇoti' [Bhāg. 5.5.4]

I am 'pramattaḥ' – I am into sense gratification…. I am completely mad…. 'pramattaḥ' – raving mad".

That' s the translation. So this is Bhagavatam, and we should just think:

"Why am I into sense gratification? What's the point? It's foolish!"

We are not speaking about that you cannot enjoy. There is some enjoyment in the material world, but it doesn't satisfy the heart completely and it binds us to the material energy! Once you get some drops of enjoyment in the material world, then you become addicted and you want more!

So therefore, in one purport, Srila Prabhupada explains that:

"When we are enjoying in the material – that is worse than we are suffering! Because when you enjoy in the material world, you become more bound to the material energy….that's a trap…it's a trap, and we really get into trouble".

All right so at least one should not just think:

"Well, What can I do…I have material desires. It's natural".

No! I should think that it's unnatural and I should give them up!

Monkey like men!

There are various archaeloigcal proofs to confirm that man did not
evolve from monkey. Monkey like men have this idea that their origin
is monkey. As already they are aping the apes in their activities,so
in one sense they are going to become monkeys in their next
lives, officially by the support of nature.
And this imaginary theory has been propounded by the athiestic man
Darwin whose ancestors and he himself is a monkey. But from Vedic
literature we have the understanding that all the living beings of
different species of life such as birds, beasts etc,all moving and
non-moving living beings are simultaneously created by our father
Manu. Manu is the father of all the species of life in this world.
And we know from Bhagavad Gita that Krishna saying, I am the seed
giving Father.
So Krishna is our real father in one sense. The living entities in
different species of life gradually evolve in their consciousness and
get to the higher levels or even get to lower levels. The main defect
of Darwin's theory is the evolution is based on body. But really
evolution takes place in the consciousness. It's based on our
consciousness, we take different bodies. Darwin's theory is purposely
meant to destroy the God consciousness and the religious principles.
And the poor children from their childhood in the public
schools(slaughter houses) study these athiestic theories and become
demons. From childhood they are not learning the science of self and
God and hence it's difficult to imbibe the values of life later on.
Finally they become like what they've been taught. To be like monkeys!

Earth is not rotating but Sun is revolving around all planetary systems in the Universe.

Earth is not rotating every day and night, rather the sun is revolving
around all the planets in the Universe. When we are stationary and
when we see moving objects, it may appear we are also moving. This is
the information we get from the Vedic literature, which is word of God.
Creator knows the creation perfectly, than the created.
We are created beings. We never know exactly whats going on inside our
body, what to speak of the Universe. We can only desire but all that is
fulfilled by the Lord only. The Supreme Lord expands Himself as this
material world and even the gross elements, our mind, intelligence
etc. So in that Sense, everything is Krishna or God. But He still
remains aloof from all these things as a Person who has nothing to do
with this material world.
Our experimental knowledge is limited. Someone said earth is flat and
someone said it's round and somebody else said it's spherical.
Tomorrow it's no wonder someone else may observe that it's triangular.
The point is ascending method of acquiring perfect knowledge is
imperfect and takes many lifetimes for one to come to an
understanding. But the descending method which comes from our ancestry
in the Vedic tradition is perfect and easy to understand. The Vedic
literature has been handed down to the living beings by Srila Vyasa
Dev,an incarnation of Lord Vishnu who God Himself. He is the source of
everything and so He knows everything that moves and not moves within
the cosmic manifestation perfectly.

Drops of Bhakti!

1. Bhakti surpasses all other process like karma, jnana and yoga.
Process of bhakti is superior and also includes all other process.
2. In bhakti chanting gives results of all , but Devotees consider
Material things and liberation as impediments to bhakti.
3. Result of bhakti gives the best of knowledge, best of wealth..if
one considers it to be an exaggeration it is an offense to the holy
name.
4. Nature of bhakti is that one gives up everything and accepts only
which is favorable. A devotee definitly does not want moksa as when
one merges they cant serve the Lord
5. Lord gives mercy upon ganges and she gives blessings to jiva in the
material world. Eradication of sin is a byproduct while the higher
goal is development of bhakti. Here it is the glorification of water
associated with the lord and having great potentcy.

Important and enthusing quotes for devotion!

We must be sincere and must be chaste in the line of Krishna consciousness. That means faith must be strong. 'I must get, today or tomorrow.' When the result is not coming, I must try to search within me: 'Where is my fault?' If we try to understand: 'Where is my fault?', mercifully by the grace of Krishna it will appear to me: 'This, is my fault.'
- B.S. Govinda Maharaj

You were born in nectar. You were born to taste nectar. You must not allow yourselves to be satisfied by anything but nectar. Awake! Arise! And search for that nectar.
- B.R. Sridhar Maharaj

Krsna will appear of His own accord. He will descend upon your tongue, and then your tongue will be able to chant the name of Krsna. A gun that has no bullet, but only a blank, may make some sound, but no bullet is actually fired. Similarly, chanting the name of Krsna without an attitude of service produces sound, but that is only tongue deep.
- B.R. Sridhar Maharaj

We have heard from Guru Maharaj that Srila Bhaktivinod Thakur would often chant on the roof of his house and every morning at 4 o'clock a great wind would pass over his roof in the direction of Mayapur. Srila Bhaktivind Thakur expressed his understanding of this miraculous wind as being Sri Nrsimhadev every day going to see the arati of Sri Gauranga Mahaprabhu. So, although ordinarily it may be difficult to conceive, we can conclude that Nrsimhadev is also very eager to see the worship of Sriman Mahaprabhu.
- B.S. Govinda Maharaj

From here we cannot conceive the divine love of all the entities in that transcendental abode of Krsna. But one day, by the grace of Gurudev, it may be possible for it to be revealed in our hearts. Still, we are always hopeful, and we will not be satisified with anything else
- B.S. Govinda Maharaj

What others will do, that is not such a big question for me. The big question for me is, what I am doing and what I am giving. Every day the sun is rising and the sun is setting, and within that period what I am doing, what I am giving from my side.
- B.S. Govinda Maharaj

"Oh Lord, give me what is good. I am an imperfect being, I do not know what is good and what is bad. Please provide whatever You consider to be good for me." This is an improvement over praying to Him for mundane things.
But best is to accept the creed of unalloyed service to the Highest: "I want You, my Lord, nothing else." And what will be our connection with Him? Service. "I want only Your service."
- B.R. Sridhar Maharaj

Everything is true only by having connection with the Absolute Truth. Everything is there in the absolute. So the finite cannot produce anything which is not in the infinite. The finite world, therefore, is rather a shadow or a perverted reflection of the whole truth.
- B.R. Sridhar Maharaj

O Arjuna, as ignorant persons work with attachment, the wise, too, must work, but without attachment, in order to guide the general people who exist in the plane of worldly action. (They differ not in their work but in their attitudes of attachment and detachment.)
- Srimad Bhagavad-Gita Ch. 13 Verse 25

Unbelievables Real Facts

Unbelievables Real Facts
When Krsna Gives U can't count.

But fools don't understand that when krsna gives u can't count ,krsna
can very easily solve our material desires but that is not lords mercy in fact that is the punishment for his polluted, material desires.we should not abroach lord with material desires

Dhruva Maharaja desires to rule the world so he performed very severe austerities, up to the point of not even breathing air so many days.

when Lord Narayana appeared to him, Lord Narayana told him, "I am now giving you the kingdom of the whole earth to rule for 36,000 years."after that u will rule the polestar(druva lok). which will continue to exist even after the dissolution that takes place at the end of Brahma's day. . No one has ever ruled this planet, which is surrounded by all the solar systems, planets and stars. All the luminaries in the sky circumambulate this planet, just as bulls tread around a central pole for the purpose of crushing grains. Keeping the polestar to their right, all the stars inhabited by the great sages like Dharma, Agni, Kaśyapa and Śukra circumambulate this planet, which continues to exist even after the dissolution of all others.

But Dhruva Maharaja Speaks to Lord Narayana"I was searching for a broken piece of glass and I was fortunate to attain a cintamani stone instead"

Foolish person like myself, who worship You for gratifying the senses of this bag of skin, are certainly influenced by Your illusory energy. In spite of having You, who are like a desire tree, and are the giver of liberation from birth and death, we ask You for benedictions of sense gratification, which is available even in a hellish condition of life."

After being worshiped by Dhruva, Lord Vishnu departed for His own abode, riding upon the back of Garuda. After watching with wonder, until the Lord was out of sight, Dhruva started for home. And yet, in spite of having achieved his desired goal, Dhruva did not feel very pleased. Having understood the position of unalloyed devotional service, Dhruva very much lamented that he had approached the Lord hoping to gain revenge against his step-mother and achieve a kingdom greater than that of Brahma. Of course, the Lord fulfilled these desires, but Dhruva was ashamed, knowing that such aspirations are not at all befitting a genuine devotee.

While going along, Dhruva condemned himself as follows: "Oh! Just see what I have done! I approached the lotus feet of the Supreme Personality of Godhead, who can award His loving service to liberate one from the cycle of birth and death, but out of foolishness, I prayed for things that are perishable. Thus, even though I came face to face with the Lord after only six months of austerity, whereas others attain this goal only after many, many births, due to thinking differently from the Lord, I have fallen down."

Dhruva knew that the Lord could have immediately taken him back to Vaikuntha. Therefore, he considered that the Lord gave him dominion over the earth for 36,000 years as a kind of punishment for his polluted, material desires.

Austerity is source of joy for a devotee!

By Karnamrita Dasa • April 15, 2011

There are three consecutive verses in the Bhagavad-gita which delineate austerity of the body, speech, and the mind. They are considered in the mode, or quality, of goodness, and are thus favorable for the practice of spiritual life. Within these verses favorable practices for a spiritually balanced life are outlined.

"Austerity of the body consists in expressing devotion to Godhead, the brahmanas, the spiritual teacher, and superiors like the father and mother, and in cleanliness, simplicity, celibacy and nonviolence."

"Austerity of speech consists in speaking words that are truthful, pleasing, beneficial, and not agitating to others, and also in regularly reciting Vedic literature."

"Satisfaction, simplicity, gravity, self-control, and purification of one's existence are the austerities of the mind" [Bhagavad-gita 17.14-16]

Austerity is also one of the qualities attributed to the brahmanas, the traditional Vedic teachers insociety:

"Peacefulness, self-control, austerity, purity, tolerance, honesty, knowledge, wisdom, and religiousness — these are the natural qualities by which the brahmanas work." [Bhagavad-gita 18.42]

And finally, austerity is considered one of the four basic principles of spirituality given in the Srimad-Bhagavatam. They consist of austerity, cleanliness, mercy and truthfulness. Although these principles can be considered as corollary factors which support the most important practices of devotional life, they are essential principles which promote a pure lifestyle.

Although sometimes Srila Prabhupada would say that human life is meant for austerity, on the path of devotion, we don't engage in greatly difficult and austere practices like the traditional yogis do. From our perspective such austerities can make the heart hard, while bhakti is about softening the heart through loving Krishna. Our austerity is the natural austerity which comes in relationship to service to Krishna. For example eating (or honoring) the sanctified vegetarian food, although enjoyable, is also an austerity, as one doesn't eat food that cannot be offered to Krishna. Alcohol and meat are some of the foods that cannot be offered to Krishna as they are considered impure and polluting. Once we become attracted to Krishna and center our life on his service, many activities fall away that we used to think nothing about doing. Some would call this austere, but for a devotee it becomes a source of joy. Such natural austerities help us fix our minds and hearts on Krishna and make spiritual progress.
