Soul killing civilization

Soul killing civilization - these demons in the name of scientists don't even know they are killing themselves by their foolish inventions. Man used to live 100 yrs, now scientists reduced it to 30-50 yrs average.

Animals are used to test medicines and then those medicines are prescribed for humans. Why not the same logic is applied for insecticide and pesticide used in farms that grow our food? If insects and pests die with our chemicals we also are dying slowly by the food treated with such hazardous chemicals but without our knowledge. Monster money making corporations are behind a lot of these initiatives.

Re: [omahagita:92] Pancha Maha Yajnas

Chanting of holy names is the ultimate religious principle in this age. There may be many yagnas (sacrifices) mentioned in scriptures but for this age there is no other alternative than chanting of holy names. Its impossible for common people or for anyone this age to perform the yagnas you mentioned in this age. There is no need to perform any other sacrifice than chanting of holy names. Below are the scriptural references recommending chanting of holy names all the time.

Verses on Chanting the Holy Names

Bhagavad-Gita 9.14
Always chanting My glories, endeavoring with great determination, bowing down before Me, these great souls perpetually worship Me with devotion.

Bhagavad-Gita 10.9
The thoughts of My pure devotees dwell in Me, their lives are fully devoted to My service, and they derive great satisfaction and bliss from always enlightening one another and conversing about me.

Bhagavad-Gita 10.25
Of the great sages I am Bhrigu; of vibrations I am the transcendental om. Of sacrifices I am the chanting of the holy names (japa), and of immovable things I am the Himalayas.

Srimad-Bhagavatam 1-1.1.14
Living beings who are entangled in the complicated meshes of birth and death can be freed immediately by even unconsciously chanting the holy name of Krsna, which is feared by fear personified.

Srimad-Bhagavatam 1-1.2.17
Sri Krsna, the Personality of Godhead, who is the Paramatma (Supersoul) in everyone's heart and the benefactor of the truthful devotee, cleanses desire for material enjoyment from the heart of the devotee who has developed the urge to hear His messages, which are in themselves virtuous when properly heard and chanted.

Srimad-Bhagavatam 6.3.22

etavan eva loke 'smin
pumsam dharmah parah smrtah
bhakti-yogo bhagavati
tan-nama-grahanadibhih

"Devotional service, beginning with the chanting of the holy name of the Lord, is the ultimate religious principle for the living entity in human society."

Srimad-Bhagavatam 11.5.32

krsna-varnam tvisakrsnam
sangopangastra-parsadam
yajnaih sankirtana-prayair
yajanti hi su-medhasah

"In the Age of Kali, intelligent persons perform congregational chanting to worship [Lord Caitanya,] the incarnation of Godhead who constantly sings the names of Krsna. Although His complexion is not blackish, He is Krsna Himself. He is accompanied by His associates, servants, weapons, and confidential companions."

Srimad-Bhagavatam 11.5.36

kalim sabhajayanty arya
guna jnah sara-bhaginah
yatra sankirtanenaiva
sarva-svartho 'bhilabhyate

"Those who are actually advanced in knowledge are able to appreciate the essential value of this Age of Kali. Such enlightened persons worship Kali-yuga because in this fallen age all perfection of life can easily be achieved by the performance of sankirtana."

Srimad-Bhagavatam 12.3.51

kaler dosa-nidhe rajan
asti hy eko mahan gunah
kirtanad eva krsnasya
mukta-sangah param vrajet

"My dear king, although Kali-yuga is full of faults, there is still one good quality about this age: simply by chanting the Hare Krsna maha-mantra, one can become free from material bondage and be promoted to the transcendental kingdom."

Srimad-Bhagavatam 12.3.51-2

kaler dosa-nidhe rajann
asti hy eko mahan gunah
kirtanad eva krsnasya
mukta-sangah param vrajet
krte yad dhyayato visnum
tretayam yajato makhaih
dvapare paricaryayam
kalau tad dhari-kirtanat

"The most important factor in this Age of Kali, which is an ocean of faults, is that one can be free from all contamination and become eligible to enter the kingdom of God simply by chanting the holy names. The self-realization that was achieved in the Satya millennium by meditation, in the Treta millennium by the performance of different sacrifices, and in the Dvapara millennium by worship of Lord Krsna can be achieved in the Age of Kali simply by chanting the holy names, Hare Krishna."

Srimad-Bhagavatam last verse
I offer my respectfull obeisances unto the Supreme Lord,
Hari, the congregational chanting of whose holy names
destoys all sinfill reactions, and the offering of obeisances
unto whom relieves all material suffering.

Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, Ådi-lila 3.40

kali-yuge yuga-dharma-namera pracara
tathi lagi' pita-varna caitanyavatara

"The religious practice for the Age of Kali is to broadcast the glories of the holy name. Only for this purpose has the Lord, in a yellow color, descended as Lord Caitanya."

Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, Antya-lila 4.71

tara madhye sarva-srestha nama-sankirtana
niraparadhe nama laile paya prema-dhana

"Of the nine processes of devotional service, the most important is to always chant the holy name of the Lord. If one does so, avoiding the ten kinds of offenses, one very easily obtains the most valuable love of Godhead."

Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, Ådi-lila 17.22

kali-kale nama-rupe krsna-avatara
nama haite haya sarva-jagat-nistara

"In this Age of Kali, the holy name of the Lord, the Hare Krsna maha-mantra, is the incarnation of Lord Krsna. Simply by chanting the holy name, one associates with the Lord directly. Anyone who does this is certainly delivered."

Kali-santarana Upanisad

hare krsna hare krsna
krsna krsna hare hare
hare rama hare rama
rama rama hare hare

iti sodasakam namnam
kali-kalmasa-nasanam
natah parataropayah
sarva-vedesu drsyate

"After searching through all the Vedic literature one cannot find a method of religion more sublime for this age than the chanting of Hare Krsna."

Brhan-naradiya Purana

harer nama harer nama
harer namaiva kevalam
kalau nasty eva nasty eva

"In this age of quarrel and hypocrisy the only means of deliverance is chanting of the holy name of the Lord.
There is no other way. There is no other way. There is no other way."

ghore kali-yuge narah
te eva krtakrtyasca
na kalir badhate hi tan
hare kesava govinda
vasudeva jaganmaya
itirayanti ye nityam
na hi tam badhate kalih

"In this dark age of Kali-yuga, sincere devotees of the Supreme Lord should leave aside all other means for liberation and take full shelter of the holy name. This is their real responsibility and duty. There is unlimited bliss in chanting the different names of Krsna: Hari, Kesava, Govinda, Vasudeva and Jaganmaya. For one who chants constantly with unflinching faith, he remains unaffected by the reverses of Kali-yuga, because his heart has become purified by chanting."

hari-nama-para ye ca
hari-kirtana tat parah
hari-puja-para ye ca
te krtarthah kalau-yuge

"Those who engage in chanting the holy name of Lord Hari (japa), are addicted to congregational chanting (kirtana) and engage in the worship of Lord Hari, have accomplished their desires in the age of Kali."

Visnu Purana: 6.2.17

dhyayan krte yajan yajnais

"In this age there is no use in meditation, sacrifice and temple worship. Simply by chanting the holy name of Krishna- Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare/ Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare-one can achieve perfect self realization."

Visnu Purana

"The supreme goal which was attained in Satya-yuga by years of prolonged meditation; in Treta-yuga by performing extensive yajnas; in Dvapara-yuga by opulent and scrupulous Deity worship; in Kali-yuga the same results are easily had simply by the chanting of the holy name."

Padma Purana, Uttara Khanda 42nd Chapter

dhyayan krte yajan yajnais
tretayam dvapare 'rcayan
yad apnoti tad apnoti
kalau sankirtya kesavam

"Whatever is achieved in Satya-yuga by meditation, in Treta by offering ritual sacrifices and in Dvapara by temple worship is achieved in Kali-yuga by chanting the names of Lord Kesava congregationally."

Padma Purana

satyam kaliyuga vipra

"Oh brahmana, chanting of the holy name is the auspicious process in Kali Yuga. It is the highest auspiciousness for mankind. There is no other way."

Varaha Purana

krsna-rupi bhaveddhi sah

"Whoever continuously chants Lord Krsna's holy name, even in his sleep, can easily realise that the name is a direct manifestation of Krsna Himself, in spite of the influences of Kali-yuga. This has been ordained by Lord Krsna."

Skanda Purana

kali-kala kusarpasya
tiksna-damstrasya ma bhayam
govinda-nama-danena
dagdho yasyati bhasmatam

"I see that Kali-yuga is like a black, poisonous snake with a gaping mouth and fangs. But please be unperturbed dear devotees and listen with faith. Once the holy name of the Lord is being chanted, it is like igniting a forest fire which will burn to ashes the poisonous snakes within the forest."

mahabhagavata nityam
kalau smakirtaya kesavam

"The hallmark of a mahabhagavata the most elevated devotee in Kali-yuga is that he chants the holy name of the Lord constantly.

Kalisantarana Upanisad

"The sixteen names composed of thirty-two syllables are the only means to counteract the evil effects of Kali-yuga. In all the Vedas it is seen that to cross the ocean of nescience, there is no alternative to the chanting of the holy name."

Chanting of the holy names of Hari is the yuga-dharma (recommended religious process) for kali-yuga. The importance of this chanting cannot be overly stressed. Everyone should chant these holy names as much as possible.

Linga Purana

varjams-tisthan svapannasnan
svasan vakya-prapurane
nama-samkirtanam visnor-
helaya kali-vardhanam
krtva svarupatam yati
bhakti-yuktam param vrajet

"In our normal activities of eating, sleeping, sitting, dreaming, etc. to chant Krsna's names, while nullify the ill effects of Kali-yuga, is the perfection of speech. Even if a person chants Krsna's names indifferently, he will surely achieve his svarupa, or original spiritual self and attain that state beyond all material fear and lamentation. He will reach Vaikuntha, the supreme goal.

Madhvacharya, quoting Narayana Samhita,
in his Mundakopanisad Bhasya says -

dvapariyair janair visnuh
pancaratrais tu kevalam
kalau tu nama-matrena
pujyate bhagavan harih

"In the Dvapara-yuga people should worship Lord Visnu only by the regulative principles of the pancaratra and other such authorized books. In the Age of Kali, however, people should only chant the holy names of the Supreme Personality of Godhead."

Hare Krishna!

Pancha Maha Yajnas

I shall speak a word on the Pancha Maha Yajnas which are intended to be performed by the householders for purification of heart. The five great Yajnas are:

(1) Deva Yajna is offering oblations to Devatas with recitation of Vedic Mantras.

(2) Rishi Yajna consists of study of Vedas and teaching of Vedas to students and offering of oblations to Rishis.

(3) Pitru Yajna consists of Tarpana or oblations to departed souls and Shraaddha or annual religious rites performed for them.

(4) Bhuta Yajna is distribution of food to crows, cows and other animals. This develops cosmic love and Advaitic Bhava.

(5) Atithi Yajna is giving food to guests and honouring them.

Every householder should perform these five Yajnas. If he fails to do, he will suffer from Pratyaya Dosha (the sin of omission). The fire place, the water pot, the cutting, grinding and sweeping apparatuses are the five places where injury to life is daily being committed. These sins are washed away by the five Maha Yajnas which every Dvija ought to perform; they are intended to satisfy the Bhutas, the Rishis, the men, the gods and the Pitrus.

The Pitrus are forefathers who dwell in the Pitruloka. They possess powers of clairvoyance and clairaudience. When Mantras are recited, they exercise a tremendous influence through their vibrations over the reciter of the Mantras, and his forefathers to whom they are directed. The Pitrus hear the Mantras through their power of clairaudience, and are pleased. They bless those who offer the oblation. In Shraaddha, the essence of food offerings is taken up by Sun's rays to Suryaloka and the departed souls are pleased with the offerings which reach them through the Sun. Even in Germany, many persons perform Tarpana and Shraaddha. They have scientifically investigated the beneficial effects of such oblations. It is the imperative duty of all householders to perform Shraaddha and Tarpana to propitiate the Rishis and Pitrus. It is only deluded souls with perverted intellect who misconstrue these things and neglect to perform the sacred ceremonies and suffer as a consequence.

Above all we have Sankirtana Yajna of chanting Hare Krishna Maha Mantra which destroys the sins of omissions of these yajnas. But still there is no harm in performing these yajnas if we get sufficient time as house holders to help other beings around.

House, wife, children, car, bank balance all are products of passion.

Money is the separating factor in this world. If you have money you will have people around you and if not you will be alone. There is no love in this world. If we have this understanding we won't expect much out of this world and not get frustrated sooner or later. House, wife, children, car, bank balance all are products of passion. The result of passion is misery. Not a joke.

One should become a scientist or philosopher and conduct research into spiritual knowledge, recognizing that spiritual knowledge is permanent

As advised in Chapter Thirteen of the Bhagavad-gītā (13.8-12), one should culture knowledge in the following way:

(1) One should become a perfect gentleman and learn to give proper respect to others.

(2) One should not pose himself as a religionist simply for name and fame.

(3) One should not become a source of anxiety to others by the actions of his body, by the thoughts of his mind, or by his words.

(4) One should learn forbearance even in the face of provocation from others.

(5) One should learn to avoid duplicity in his dealings with others.

(6) One should search out a bona fide spiritual master who can lead him gradually to the stage of spiritual realization, and one must submit himself to such a spiritual master, render him service and ask relevant questions.

(7) In order to approach the platform of self-realization, one must follow the regulative principles enjoined in the revealed scriptures.

(8) One must be fixed in the tenets of the revealed scriptures.

(9) One should completely refrain from practices which are detrimental to the interest of self-realization.

(10) One should not accept more than he requires for the maintenance of the body.

(11) One should not falsely identify himself with the gross material body, nor should one consider those who are related to his body to be his own.

(12) One should always remember that as long as he has a material body he must face the miseries of repeated birth, old age, disease and death. There is no use in making plans to get rid of these miseries of the material body. The best course is to find out the means by which one may regain his spiritual identity.

(13) One should not be attached to more than the necessities of life required for spiritual advancement.

(14) One should not be more attached to wife, children and home than the revealed scriptures ordain.

(15) One should not be happy or distressed over desirables and undesirables, knowing that such feelings are just created by the mind.

(16) One should become an unalloyed devotee of the Personality of Godhead, Śrī Kṛṣṇa, and serve Him with rapt attention.

(17) One should develop a liking for residence in a secluded place with a calm and quiet atmosphere favorable for spiritual culture, and one should avoid congested places where nondevotees congregate.

(18) One should become a scientist or philosopher and conduct research into spiritual knowledge, recognizing that spiritual knowledge is permanent whereas material knowledge ends with the death of the body.

The Supreme Lord cannot be conquered by any other means than pure devotional service to Him

When the lawyer, law book and judge are all aligned on a subject where is the question of contradiction? Similarly Guru, Sadhu and Sastra are all saying the same thing about attaining perfection. It is only by undivided devotional service that the Supreme Absolute can be understood and conquered but not by mere speculation of mind, logical reasoning or even study of scriptures or severe austerities.

No one can measure the length and breadth of God by speculation or by false identification with God

SB 3.26.52

etad aṇḍaṁ viśeṣākhyaṁ
 krama-vṛddhair daśottaraiḥ
toyādibhiḥ parivṛtaṁ
 pradhānenāvṛtair bahiḥ
yatra loka-vitāno 'yaṁ
 rūpaṁ bhagavato hareḥ
Word for word:
etat — this; aṇḍam — egg; viśeṣa-ākhyam — called viśeṣa; krama — one after another; vṛddhaiḥ — increased;daśa — ten times; uttaraiḥ — greater; toya-ādibhiḥ — by water and so on; parivṛtam — enveloped; pradhānena— by pradhāna; āvṛtaiḥ — covered; bahiḥ — on the outside; yatra — where; loka-vitānaḥ — the extension of the planetary systems; ayam — this; rūpam — form; bhagavataḥ — of the Supreme Personality of Godhead; hareḥ — of Lord Hari.
Translation:
This universal egg, or the universe in the shape of an egg, is called the manifestation of material energy. Its layers of water, air, fire, sky, ego and mahat-tattva increase in thickness one after another. Each layer is ten times bigger than the previous one, and the final outside layer is covered by pradhāna. Within this egg is the universal form of Lord Hari, of whose body the fourteen planetary systems are parts.
Purport:

This universe, or the universal sky which we can visualize with its innumerable planets, is shaped just like an egg. As an egg is covered by a shell, the universe is also covered by various layers. The first layer is water, the next is fire, then air, then sky, and the ultimate holding crust is pradhāna. Within this egglike universe is the universal form of the Lord as the virāṭ-puruṣa. All the different planetary situations are parts of His body. This is already explained in the beginning of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, Second Canto. The planetary systems are considered to form different bodily parts of that universal form of the Lord. Persons who cannot directly engage in the worship of the transcendental form of the Lord are advised to think of and worship this universal form. The lowest planetary system, Pātāla, is considered to be the sole of the Supreme Lord, and the earth is considered to be the belly of the Lord. Brahmaloka, or the highest planetary system, where Brahmā lives, is considered to be the head of the Lord.

This virāṭ-puruṣa is considered an incarnation of the Lord. The original form of the Lord is Kṛṣṇa, as confirmed inBrahma-saṁhitā: ādi-puruṣa. The virāṭ-puruṣa is also puruṣa, but He is not ādi-puruṣa. The ādi-puruṣa is Kṛṣṇa:īśvaraḥ paramaḥ kṛṣṇaḥ sac-cid-ānanda-vigrahaḥ/ anādir ādir govindaḥ. In Bhagavad-gītā Kṛṣṇa is also accepted as the ādi-puruṣa, the original. Kṛṣṇa says, "No one is greater than Me." There are innumerable expansions of the Lord, and all of them are puruṣas, or enjoyers, but neither the virāṭ-puruṣa nor the puruṣa-avatāras — Kāraṇodakaśāyī Viṣṇu, Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu and Kṣīrodakaśāyī Viṣṇu — nor any of the many other expansions, is the original. In each universe there are Garbhodakaśāyī Viṣṇu, the virāṭ-puruṣa and Kṣīrodakaśāyī Viṣṇu. The active manifestation of the virāṭ-puruṣa is described here. Persons who are in the lower grade of understanding regarding the Supreme Personality of Godhead may think of the universal form of the Lord, for that is advised in the Bhāgavatam.

The dimensions of the universe are estimated here. The outer covering is made of layers of water, air, fire, sky, ego and mahat-tattva, and each layer is ten times greater than the one previous. The space within the hollow of the universe cannot be measured by any human scientist or anyone else, and beyond the hollow there are seven coverings, each one ten times greater than the one preceding it. The layer of water is ten times greater than the diameter of the universe, and the layer of fire is ten times greater than that of water. Similarly, the layer of air is ten times greater than that of fire. These dimensions are all inconceivable to the tiny brain of a human being.

It is also stated that this description is of only one egglike universe. There are innumerable universes besides this one, and some of them are many, many times greater. It is considered, in fact, that this universe is the smallest; therefore the predominating superintendent, or Brahmā, has only four heads for management. In other universes, which are far greater than this one, Brahmā has more heads. In the Caitanya-caritāmṛta it is stated that all these Brahmās were called one day by Lord Kṛṣṇa on the inquiry of the small Brahmā, who, after seeing all the larger Brahmās, was thunderstruck. That is the inconceivable potency of the Lord. No one can measure the length and breadth of God by speculation or by false identification with God. These attempts are symptoms of lunacy.

Day-1 HG Prithusrava Prabhu and Danakeli Mataji class notes

1. Janmashtami means not just the day of the year every time we celebrate and get back to our normal routines.

2. Actual Janmashtami means Krishna has to take birth in our heart.

3. Srila Vishwatha Chakravarthi Thakur says Mother Devaki represents Bhakti, Kamsa the fear of material existence and the six sons of Devaki as the six things such as lust, greed, pride, anger, madness, envy.

4. Only when these six things are killed, Guru(represents Balaram) and Krishna will appear within our hearts and that's when real Janmashtami happens.

5. When Guru comes he will clean the residual effects of the six entities within our hearts and makes it suitable to invite Krishna to the heart.

6. The rest of the year, we have to do the homework of cleaning our heart from these six entities and during the next Janmashtami we should call upon Krishna to take birth in our heart.

7. Krishna wants us to love Him and that's why He appears in this world. Otherwise just the material nature itself can do the job of killing demons.

(Contd...)

A perfect life is not possible in this material world but in spiritual world

Sometimes it is better to stop fixing the material problems of our life because there is no end for the problems of material life and we will never be able to fix them no matter how hard we try and it goes forever and life itself will be finished before we get a perfect comfortable  situation. We ourselves the souls are perfect beings who are parts of The Lord. The Lord Himself says this 24 elements are of inferior nature so there will be always problem as long as we manipulate or identify ourselves with these elements.

In the end we loose ourselves in simply fixing these 24 elements forgetting our real position as higher transcendental spirit soul-the eternal servant of The Lord.

Pancha Maha Yajnas

Fwd: [granthraj] Come to your Senses - Part 4

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in conclusion of the previous offerings titled, "Come to Your Senses", the transcription of a powerful class, given by our beloved spiritual master H H Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj, in Sri Sri Radhaneelmadhav dham, Rajkot on 6th December 2005. In the previous offering we heard from Maharaj that

1. We should never neglect the scriptures.
2. Engaging the mind in Krishna's service and not in concoctions.
3. Clean and chant.
4. Come to your senses.

Now let us continue to hear more nectar from Maharaj on the topic 'Come to your senses'.

5. Come to your senses: We feel like running after every woman. But you can't do it. If you do it, you will be stoned or punished or beaten or arrested. So we can't do it. "I want to do it, but I can't do it so I have to control myself." So if the control is there, why not to have more control by going to the scriptures? We have seen in Bhagavatam millions of times. How many times we have heard! How many times we have discussed! What have you heard and what have you discussed! Even now, if you are running after these things, how you are going to save yourself! Be a nice devotee. Nice devotees have always very pleasing nature; and very comfortable in their own situation; they are in control of their body and, not only that, but always in control of their energies i.e. we are heir-apparent to Krishna. Krishna's name is Vasudev. Vasudev means fully in control of His energy and consciousness. He is the supreme consciousness. That is why, every tree is conscious here; every particle of the dust is conscious here and all over the material manifestation, what to talk of only this planet! All over the universe!! This is consciousness. And we are part of this consciousness. That is why it is said part and parcel. Part is part – simple. But we have parcel. Parcel means, you are in possession of consciousness and you are completely controlling the consciousness. So anybody touches any hair on your body, you know. In every follicle of the hair, the consciousness is there. This is the meaning of parcel. Why ignore the parcel word! And we are fully in control of this consciousness because we are part and parcel of Krishna. That is why whatever quality there is in Krishna's consciousness, we are having in us in tiny proprotions. With all our energies under our control and with all the consciousness under our control in this mini body, Krishna is supreme consciousness and supreme controller in this sense. Why is He known as ishvaram? It is because He is fully in control of His energies and of His consciousness.

Why can't we meditate on these things? Try to find out what brahmacarya is. Try to find out from Prabhupada's writings what he means. Try to instigate your intelligence. You are fully experienced. Try to control yourself and be a man in the real sense of the term. We are known as manava. We are Manu's followers. And Manu is highly elevated living entity. Even now, the code given for behavior is known as Manu-samhita. It is coming from Manu. He has recommended a code. And all the codes followed all over the planet are given by Manu. Different scriptures have different codes. Nobody recommends thieving. Nobody recommends running after women. But we are following that. There is no recommendation. Why are you following that? Because in the West – women liberation. Liberation of women is some scoundrel man's idea. If the women are protected by the husband, she cannot be enjoyed by anybody and everybody. So this scoundrel wanted to enjoy so he was very clever. He said, "Unless I speak in their language, women will not do." Liberation is death for a woman. As it is, sex is death; and liberation means, how many people will have sex! So it is as good as death. She cannot survive with this. Even the prostitutes can't survive more than 10-20 years because they are losing everything. This is not the way. That is why the controlled woman is necessary in this age. Liberation is a completely nasty idea. They think that, "Now I am earning money, I don't need a husband." It is not the money; It is the care. They will enjoy and go away. Who will take care? Children will be left to her. Please, this is all varna-shankara behavior we are doing. I don't know how to stop these things. But one thing we should do, that continuous harinama must go on. That is the remedy for this. You people please come together… and please these young people must crowd together here. Why they are wasting their time I don't know! Why they can't come together and try to follow something by which the society will be helped! Your earning will go on definitely. But you do these things. Why can't you come to this point? The school is already there. We are craving for the young people to serve Krishna. Please, propagate these things to young people. And celibacy must be there, and celibacy will be only possible if they are controlled. For your good you should be under control. Otherwise, you are losing. Outside world is completely nasty. So please take care. Hare Krishna !

Our heartfelt thanks to Maharaj for this powerful class full of strong, sublime and practical instructions which can save us from all miseries in this world.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Bhupati Krishna das, New York.

[granthraj] Come to your Senses - Part 3

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of the previous offering titled, "Come to Your Senses", the transcription of a powerful class, given by our beloved spiritual master H H Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj, in Sri Sri Radhaneelmadhav dham, Rajkot on 6th December 2005. In the previous offering we heard from Maharaj that

1. We should never neglect the scriptures.
2. Engaging the mind in Krishna's service and not in concoctions.

Now let us continue to hear more nectar from Maharaj.

3. Clean and Chant: Clean the temple and when you are tired, you won't have idea of sex at all. Once you are tired, then nothing is there. Clean the temple and then show me whether you are running after the girl. The girl may pass near you and you will never notice because you are tired. Because you are not working, that is why you are running after here and there. Man, every time the girl smiles and you think, "She likes me." "Arre man, she doesn't like you at all." Smiling doesn't mean anything. But we are mad. Because we don't see the soul in the girl, we are just running after the body. Why we are mad like this, I don't know! How else should Bhagavatam insist? Is this very difficult to understand? Does it require much intelligence? It is common sense. If you read Bhagavatam, you will see your own life and you will see the life around. This does not require much intelligence. (Maharaj humbly says) I am the dunce and even then I can see because I have gone through the whole thing in my life. I was also 20 years old. I was also 25 years old. Don't you think I was 25? So I know what was the thing. Please, scriptures are very particular. And unless you keep yourself busy, you will never get rid of these bad ideas. And busy in the sense of manual work. Two things we must always have: one is bead bag, another one is duster. So go and clean everywhere and chant. Clean and chant, clean and chant! That is it. Nothing doing. But we don't do that. Chant and eat, chant and eat! Man, stop this madness. The more you eat, the more you run after, because the outlet is not there. Please, stop. Chant and work hard. C-W is alright. C-E is wrong (laughter).

4. Come to your senses: Regarding eating, we should be very sane about it. Anything you eat, eventually it is stool. If you eat rasagulla, rasagulla doesn't come out. So you should behave alright. And you should propagate these things. Don't you want to live comfortably? Why we are not following this 'celibate' word correctly? Celibate is not that you don't have sex. No. Even if you are not having sex, if the idea is continuous, then you are having more sex. Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita 3.6

karmendriyaani samyamya / ya aaste manasaa smaran
indriyaarthan vimudhaatma / mithyaacaarah sa ucyate

"One who restrains the senses of action but whose mind dwells on sense objects certainly deludes himself and is called a pretender."

How clear it is! Study Bhagavad Gita. You are stopping your sense gratification by controlling your senses. But manasaa smaran always you are thinking about it in the mind. indriyaarthaan vimudhaatma He is vimudha, fool. mithyaacaarah sa ucyate - he is a pretender. Please stop this. And how to do it? Continuous engagement in this study of scriptures. Even while sitting your mind runs after sex. So manual labor must be there. Get up at 4 o' clock, run to the temple. Do some productive labor. We are very happy in unproductive labor. We cannot afford unproductive labor. We can only afford productive labor. No need of going to gym or running around. You sit down here and clean the floor. No need of going anywhere. Unproductive labor will always kill you. Unnecessary palpitation is there. We call it, 'Cleanliness is next to Godliness'. Please, this is the point to be understood. Unless the celibacy is followed very seriously, don't think that you will progress an inch on this path. And when you don't progress, you lose faith in the process. There is nothing wrong in the process. Everything is wrong with you. Why you are not coming to the senses? Please, why, why this madness! Because we are not following any principles and we pretend that we are following - mityaacaarah sa ucyate - this is our position. And celibacy cannot be there. Not marrying is not a brahmachari. Staying with one wife is brahmachari. dharmaviruddho bhuteshu kamo 'smi bharatarshabha. We have to control anyway. The controlled life only gives us the safety.

Krishna willing, we will continue to hear more nectar from Maharaj in the subsequent offerings.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Bhupati Krishna das.
