They share their Krishna Consciousness and that's what makes it relishable! We do not just relish our own relationship with Krishna, but we relish also to hear what the other vaisnavas are experiencing, and perceiving about Krishna, which makes everything so much more rich, and so much more wonderful!! We share realizations with one and other! Therefore, we cannot all be in our own bubble, and just, relish Krishna…. relish Krishna – then we would be cut off from all the other experiences that all the other vaisnavas would have. Therefore the vaisnavas would share!

Well, we can expect that it will take some time to catch momentum, but I think if we look at the Brahma Purana, it is said there will be: ' Ek varna Hari Bhakta ' – One class of men who will all be the devotees of Hari So this is interesting, because it means that it goes beyond Varnashram and that it is no longer just – brahmana, ksatriya, vaisya and sudra a society of dovetailing material propensity, but Hari Bhakta means devotional service. Only one varna, so everyone is a devotee. Well so what would the world be like if everyone was a devotee? Then you can speculate that there are a few references. We do not have much, but we have two references in the Bhagavatam, and two purports. Srila Prabhupada says that the situation will change, and that it will no longer be like the Kali-yuga. He is saying in one purport that it will be like Tetra-yuga. In Tetra-yuga, there is some imperfection, and in another purport he says it will be like Satya-yuga. So whatever may be, it is also mentioned in the Bhagavatam that the conditions in the heavenly planets is like Tetra-yuga. So the Tetra-yuga must be pretty good! In the Satya-yuga, the grains start growing on their own – everything is jewels, minerals, gold and are just widely available without any trouble! So what will the mentality of the people be like? Well, it is Lord Caitanya's movement after all that we are speaking about, and so Lord Caitanya's movement is a movement of 'spontaneity'. It is not the movement of vaidi bhakti. It is not the movement of devotional service according to rules and regulations. Of course in Lord Caitanya's movement the rules and regulations are part of the process as Rupa Goswami has outlined, but it is meant to go beyond that to the spontaneous platform. We expect that one class of men "Hari Bhakta" will be predominated by bhakti – by spontaneous devotional service and a natural attraction to Krishna. Lord Caitanya didn't expect, a temple on the street corner, a temple in the other corner, and some places for study. In other words a nice vedic society, but that's not Lord Caitanya's Golden age, because that is not what Lord Caitanya came to give. Lord Caitanya is particularly coming to teach how to become influenced by spontaneous love: 'Namo maha-vadanyaya krsna-prema-pradaya krsnaya krsna-caitanya-namine gaura-tvise namah' It is about Krishna prema. Therefore what I think will happen is: We will see people just totally absorbed – today we have a 12 hour kirtan, and then there will just always be kirtan everywhere in every house! The evil eye will disappear – the light from the television light reflecting off that wall in every living room! There will be a kirtan in every home at night. It used to be like that in Vrindavan, in the seventies. When I used to stay in Vrindavan, there were no TV's. Everywhere, you heard people, if you walked around in Vrindavan, – you would hear people having kirtan at night in their homes and that is what we need, but we also have to get to that stage, because we are part of the ugra karma world, since we tend to sleep at night in our ugra karma beds. Ugra – because everything is artificial – blankets are polyester fibres. God knows what ugra stuff that we will actually sleep in. We sleep in our ugra karma beds and we wake up to an ugra morning. We have an ugra-karma breakfast and whatever is on our plate is all ugra you know!!! A bit of this and a bit of that and we get into our ugra cars and we go to our ugra karma jobs and everything. We drive down the ugra karma streets, in the ugra karma cities and then come home and chant our rounds in front of the television and watch the news, whilst the children watch some cartoons. So if you have the desire, then I am always eager to come to a special program to your home, and we'll come with a kirtan party and then we will all go towards that television, pick it up, take it upstairs, open the window and then Hari bol! do the rest!!. So if you wish to become liberated from the evil eye, then certainly at your service, any time let us know, because we need our time to chant Hare Krishna. That Golden Age is meant to come – will come through us! It's not like we're going to wait: "Oh when will the Golden Age come? Oh when will it come?" We are the Golden Age! It is us and how fast it will come? Depends on how fast we will make it happen!!

Lord Nrsimhadeva! Posted: 16 May 2011 06:45 AM PDT I came to Mayapur and I saw Lord Nrsimhadeva and I was a little bit afraid of Him. I've never really been afraid of Him before but for the first time I started thinking, "Ya, He's heavy with the demons and maybe there are some demoniac remnants in me! And if He's going to purify me in this way….!" Shoo, I was a little bit afraid! What can I say! So that's when I started to contemplate on the soft nature of Lord Nrsimhadeva, how actually He's very soft hearted. Because after all, He couldn't tolerate that His little boy Prahlada was being so much mistreated. And of course, I can identify with that because if you do it in front of me then I'll also turn into Nrsimhadeva or something very ferocious if someone is beating an innocent little kid or creature! Which is the norm&which is exception?

Being in the city,how can be bring about a radical change in our lives
to Live in harmony with the injunctions of Scripture&refrain from
following the various false propaganda in the modern society?
Should we migrate away from the city back to villages to make life
simple&Krsna Conscious?
How can we immediately give up the modern way of living in the city
that we've been absorbed into for our life?
Answers:
Whether it's ancient period or modern period, as long as we dont give
up the desire for Sense enjoyment we've to suffer.
Whether you are in city or country what's important is your
consciousness. Someone may be living in the city&be Krsna Conscious
while someone else in the country may not be Krsna conscious but
contemplating on the facilities of the city.
Yes we should make our life simple by living in villages which is
conducive for Devotional service. But most of you may think it's
stupidity to do so. You may even laugh at this when the whole world is
moving towards the city.We are not holding guns at your back or
whipping to threaten you to move to the villages.
But the whips of Yama thoodas are there for sure when adharmic
activities are done. The problems of repeated birth,death oldage are
there.The problem is people in the city will not let us remain
Vaishnavas.
Also we are holding back our material desire on one side&trying to do
devotion on the other side,which cant go together. When we are callled
as good Vaishnavas we feel happy but when our material desires are
pointed out we are not happy. What we like to hear is mostly the ones
that are not beneficial&what we dont like to hear are the ones usually
good for us.
Some people ask why should we torture ourselves like this? What
appears to be a torture for an aspiring devotee,is really
beneficial&that is required. The pleasure felt by even an aspirant
devotee is far more better than the pleasure derived from sensual
activities.
It's not automatic. It's not like we can enjoy life now without taking
any effort&then finally become Paramahamsas.

Hiranyakashipu had everything in the Universe under his control.He
enjoyed any woman
of his choice,regardless of married or unmarried woman. He had all
facilities for his sensual enjoyment in full, of which an
exceptionally strong body was one.He was always intoxicated. There
was no one single person to contest his position.Indra was like an
insect to him. But still, his life was filled with
lamentation,fear,frustration. This clearly shows that no matter how
much material facilities we have,that alone can never ever make us
happy&satisfied.
We have to learn that we can remain happy only when we accept our
constitutional position as servant of Lord Krishna. Krishna will be
happy&we will also become happy then. Lord is more
intelligent,tactful&powerful than even the most powerful

Everyone is thinking: everything is for my pleasure, everything for my
purposes, for my comfort, for my protection, yes, for my profit, for ME!
Yes, everything and everyone!  And if we change that mood: no, we and
everything here is all for the one purpose to serve the Supreme Lord,
suddenly then, the world, instead of being divided, becomes united!
Suddenly we become harmonious.  If we recognise that all the energy, all
the trees, all the grass, all the animals are part of Krsnas creation, then
automatically, automatically our attitude changes.  If this is Krsnas
property, then one who is the servant of Krsna cannot treat it like a
rubbish bin.  Thats automatically taken care of.  Automatically there is
respect.  We wont just go with a chainsaw in the forest and see how many
trees we can cut down in an hour!

Its a very special time.  Not only did Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu give us a
great gift by the process of chanting Hare Krsna, but He stayed present
himself also.  And everyone who chants Hare Krsna, he helps.  He is
invisibly helping us all the time.  Thats very important, because without
it, we wouldnt make it.  We are weak, very weak.  But because invisibly Sri
Caitanya Mahaprabhu is present and is actively helping us, (Sanskrit), now,
in this time, it is possible for anyone and everyone to elevate himself to
the platform of a pure devotee and actually find complete happiness
within.  That is possible.

We can contemplate how Krsna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, appears
in this world and that Krsna is human-like, or one could say Humans are
Krsna-like. The human traits and human pastimes are corresponding with the
nature of Krsna. So Krsna in the spiritual world is also showing human
characteristics and Krsna is also showing many super-human characteristics,
again and again lifting Govardhan Hill or so many others when Krsna is
just all-powerful and there is no limit to what He can do.

So it is interesting how Krsna is the all powerful, omniscient Supreme
Personality of Godhead, and yet acting in a human way. In His pastimes,
Krsna is employing Yogamaya for this purpose. The cowherd boys may come up,
cover His eyes and say; Guess who I am! Just imagine Krsna saying; I am the
all-pervading Supreme Personality of Godhead, all-knowing You cant
surprise me! That would spoil the game!

By becoming a family man or a king in the material world is not harmful, if
one accepts everything for Krishna's service. That necessitates clear
intelligence.

The Mayavadi philosophers say:

"Brahman sachin jigar mitchya " – This material world is false and only the
absolute truth is real.

However, the intelligent devotee in the line of the Lord Brahma and the
great sage Narada, or in other words of the Brahma Sampradaya:

"Does not consider this world as false – that which is created by the
Supreme Personality of Godhead cannot be false, but using it for enjoyment
is!"

Everything is meant to be enjoyed by the Supreme Personality of Godhead!
As confirmed in the Bhagavad Gita (5.29):

"bhoktāram yajña-tapasām

sarva-loka-maheśvaram"

The Supreme Personality of Godhead is the proprietor and an enjoyer, and
that everything should be dovetailed for his service, regardless of ones
circumstances – favourable or unfavourable, one should use everything to
serve the Supreme Lord. That is the perfect way to use one's intelligence!

Here it is described that gradually the society at large will become more
and more difficult, and that there will be more and more taxation.

We are seeing that when you are driving around, it is incredible how much
toll you have to pay incredible and everything is taxed. You pay direct
tax to the government, then indirect tax and VAT. It is inconceivable on
how much tax is being paid ….80 90% were already working for the
government actually its a fact, 80% 90% of work is for the government,
either direct tax or indirect tax, and all the things we buy, and all the
tax is on that. That is the situation and it will increase and we see
instability.

It is being predicted sooner or later, that there will be great droughts!
Once that happens then everything will change, because then nothing will
grow. No vegetables will grow, and so it will become difficult to eat, then
meat eating will become more and more for the purpose of survival.

So, theres no doubt that this is destined to happen, because Bhagavatam is
describing it, and we are also seeing so many elements being described,
which is happening right now. So in this way, we can appreciate Srimad
Bhagavatam, which is describing the present and the future. We are already
discussing Kali Yuga this week –'Ugra-Karma', the activity of the Kali Yuga.

'Ugra-Karma', as Srila Prabhupada describes it as 'horrible work meant to
destroy the world'. So we are working in Ugra-Karma companies…. 'Ugra'
means aggressive, destructive, to destroy the world. You can call it
multinationals if you want to they pay us and what can we do? But just
abide by it.

They make us work ridiculous hours, they do not give you any chance to
live. It is almost impossible to chant your rounds and it's suffering to
chant in the midst of all that, and you have just been released on the
Saturday morning to come to the temple, which is your good fortune so it
is not that bad yet!!! They still allow you Saturday mornings off but they
say:

'We are working on that! We are working on it….. there are financial
crisis'.

Then everybody becomes afraid of losing their jobs, and then you have to
work overtime without pay to keep your job, which is now very complicated,
since due to the economic crisis, many people are working overtime without
pay and they gladly do so to keep their jobs so they can work again on
Saturday. Now, the shops are open on Sundays, because that's no longer the
day of the Lord! So we can work on that as well.

'Why waste the Lord's time?'

Anyway, now that we have the good fortune on Saturdays, so that we can
assemble in marginal numbers and we can discuss the Srimad Bhagavatam.

So one of the points that we discussed this week was that there is the ten
thousand year of the Golden Age in this age of Kali and that of course is
'our hope'. So we hope that it kicks in fast!!

It is said that it will start 5,000 years after the appearance of Lord
Krishna. So it should start shouldn't it? But maybe, it has already started
in a seed form and maybe the seed is just sprouting because, everywhere
devotional service is spreading and were seeing miraculous things. We are
seeing people from all over the world wearing tilak and chanting Hare
Krishna so something is definitely going on no doubt!

In the Bhagavad Gita, Krishna says:

Palam balavatam chamah .

This means that the strength of the strong is meant to protect the weak,
but in the age of Kali, it is described here as the opposite is taking
place the strong will exploit the weak. That, of course, is not new to the
world that is the history of the world already for a long time.

Call it colonialism, call it whatever you may want, but those who are
military stronger had exploited others. Now call it geopolitics…. so many
people think that America is interested in the oil in the Middle East but
that's not all what's going on.

Experts say, it's called geopolitics the strategy to make sure that
although 80% of the resources of the world are in between Europe and Asia,
still America will do whatever it can to retain it's position of supremacy
in the world.

It's called geopolitics, so it happens on a small scale exploitation and it
happens in families, it happens in marriage and abusive relationships where
basically one person is exploiting the other and using the strength
whoever is the stronger one will exploit the weak one.

So that is the demoniac mentality:

I am the enjoyer

I am very powerful

I am the controller.

This is the demoniac nature as described in the Bhagavad Gita. This
demoniac nature is very deeply rooted in the consciousness of the
conditioned soul. It is not that we are exceptions to the rule because all
the living beings are influenced by this illusory energy, which causes
desire and hate lust and envy.

This devotional service is diametrically opposed to this mood because
devotional service is based on the principal of 'dāsya' or service. Service
attitude is the one thing that is in the centre of spiritual life and it is
this dāsya where a devotee must therefore learn to become a servant.

It is not automatic, it comes by practice and therefore we must engage in
activities of service and that will gradually change our mentality from
being the monster and the enjoyer.

This tendency to be master is very deeply rooted, and it may come out again
also in devotional service. It is described that one may enjoy the side
benefits that come from devotional service, as one is engaging in
devotional service. It is natural and in this way again one begins to
instead of focusing on serving Krishna, again we develop the mood of being
the 'enjoyer.'

So, this is very deeply rooted deeply rooted a stumbling block on the
spiritual path which harasses us for a long time. We have to be on guard by
taking a humble position humility is the quality that is difficult to
develop, but at least a vaishnava can take a humble position by giving all
respect to others and by not taking any credit for himself.

It is like if we did some service and someone says:

Who did it?

It's not up to us to say:

I did it.

We should keep our achievements private, not looking for glorification –
and of course when the vaishnavas force us, then we are some what in an
embarrassed state that we will accept glorification but it is not that
this is something we are looking for. So trying to avoid is not so easy,
not easy at all, but that is our approach.
