Refrain: Oh, why does my heart not weep from chanting the holy names Hare Krsna?

1) The bird of my heart does not know what past sinful activities in has committed to cause this inability to chant Hare Krsna properly.

2) O forest bird! I have kept something for you very carefully within the cottage of my heart – the holy name of Hari, which is overflowing with pure sweet honey. O bird, you could learn the chanting of this name if you were taught.

3) A bird is easily able to speak all names; why then does this bird of my heart refuse to chant Hare Krsna? Oh, why does my heart not weep from chanting the holy names HareKrsna?

4) O bird! Come, let us go to the spiritual world, the land of true and everlasting beauty. It is the place where the imaginary man of my mind will never again come and go on the revolving cycle of birth and death.

5) O bird! At the time of death, your body will simply be placed upon a funeral stretcher, lifted on the shoulders of four persons and carried to the cremation grounds.

6) Alas! The cremation fire will enter your mouth and then totally consume your tongue. There will be nothing you can do to save yourself, for at that time it is too late – you will be unable to speak anymore.

Which is powerful Nectar/Blessings?

Bali Maharaj was killed in the battle with devas after the nectar was consumed by the devas. Then Sukracharya who is the descendent of Brghu Muni, a great race of brahmanas - he performed some special rituals and chanted mantras and actually brought Bali Maharaj back to life! Bali Maharaj was so grateful, he felt so indebted that he served Sukracharya with so much humility and so much devotion and he also served all of the brahmanas of the Brghu dynasty. In this way he pleased them exceedingly and they blessed him. They blessed him in such a way that he became more powerful than ever before, he was radiant, effulgent. INDRA WARNED He gathered his armies together to march on Indra's kingdom. They surrounded it. Indra looked out and just by seeing the effulgence of Bali and Bali's incredible enthusiasm to do whatever it took to get Indraloka, Indra didn't know what to do. He approached his guru, Brhaspati and said, "Look at Bali and his people they look like they can swallow the whole universe, see his enthusiasm, see the strength he has, what's happening? what are we supposed to do?" And Brhaspati, he was a mystic, he could see past, present and future. He said that, "Bali Maharaj has served his guru very faithfully and pleased him and he has also served the great brahmanas, the great souls - they have blessed him. There's nothing you can do". This is very interesting - more powerful than even then nectar, more empowering than this nectar that they fought over so much was the blessings of great souls. That as long as he has the blessings of these great souls, he has the power way, way, way beyond his own. You see what the nectar can do is it can increase your own power but Bali has accessed something much greater by getting the heartfelt blessings due to his humble, loving service to great souls. Hes now empowered by God, its not about him anymore because the guru and the great saints are carrying the power of God and they have bestowed that power upon him, hes unstoppable. "Its not just Bali, you are dealing with brahma-tejas, the supreme power of the brahmanas, the great saints. Indra, don't even try fighting him, the nectar or nothing else is going to help you now. I advise you to disguise yourself, run away and hide". This is quite a big instruction for a kshyatriya like Indra and all the devas. And thats all they could do, they disguised themselves and by their mystic powers they can really disguise themselves, they can change their forms. So the asuras could not recognize any of them and they just slipped away and went into hiding places and waited. Brhaspati said, "Just wait, be patient. Time is not on your side but at a certain time in the future I can foresee that Bali Maharaj is going to displease his guru and the brahamana race and when that happens he's going to lose all this potency and you will get everything back"

The divine protector within and without - Bahir Nrisimho Hrdaye Nrisimho

My article after quite a long time.....

Only once if a soul surrenders to the Lord sincerely with all heart, the Lord, Sri Ramachandra Bhagavan assures such a soul be protected from the cycle of birth and death.

We being covered by the blunt material senses & the lust cannot see how the Lord is personally taking care of His devotees like us who are struggling with our sadhana and the principles. We cannot understand that so easily.
When we neglect the austerities and the sadhana a little, Krishna takes away His protection and then we will see that nothing in our life is easy without Krishna's protection. And it is He who has been protecting all these while. You can feel the darkness when you slightly get away from the light.

Actually we can realize that when we slightly try to digress ;-) Then our false ego is slashed and the faith in the Lord is increased manifold. There is no more evidence required to feel the protection of the Lord for a devotee who realizes the protection of the Lord every moment. This is for even the beginners or the sadhakas. Then think about those who are constantly & spontanesously engaged in His service. The Lord gives His heart and Himself for such devotees and He Himself is conquered by the love of such devotees. The way the Lord reciprocates is mystical. There's nothing in this world that is aloof from Him. Every single atom in this world interacts with us based on our level of sincerity and devotion to the Lord.

We have to be like monkey as well as like a Lion cub. Baby monkey will tightly hold on to his mother and regardless of the way the mother jumps, the child monkey will tightly hold the mother and wont fall down. Like this we have to stick to the process of devotional service tightly. If we do so, the Lord is like a Lion who will take the cubs with His mouth and protect from falling down into the clutches of the evil of birth and death.

Today I am so happy that I can see that the Lord is protecting personally in every instance in my life. For materialists they will get whatever they want instantly but for me, He is not so lenient. He is hard with me for my own good and there's no one who cares like Him all the time. I am trying my best to regulate the attachment and aversion pertaining to the sense objects.

But it is on contract ;-) If I do so, the Lord has to protect me, otherwise it is mechanical and artificial. Artificially controlling the senses is not possible. My endeavors and efforts are not enough. But without the association of His dear devotees I can make no progress and get no inspiration to move on to the next step.

Arjuna had aversion to fight because it brings pain to see his relatives dying. In his case he could not give up fighting goto the forest and beg alms like jnanis because his nature was not that and is against his dharma, nor was he attached to earthly or heavenly kingdom. He was equiposed so victory or defeat doesnt matter to a soul like Arjuna.

Earlier I didnt understand how a devotee can realize the paramatma also. Now I can see that the Lord is within the heart directing the wandering of all beings. When devotees go out for preaching, it is the Lord who inspires them to talk the right thing to the right person, otherwise how does the devotee knows the mind of the people to who they are talking to as we are not antaryami.

In Srila Prabhupada's life, one time in his childhood he lighted some match sticks and suddenly his dress caught fire and out of no where some person came and put off the fire and vanished in no time. Srila Prabhupada says this in one of his conversations. It is obvious for us who would have come to save him from fire. He already knows his mission, one time when one of his god brothers asked him, do you wonder who will carry out the mission of our Guru Maharaja Srila Bhakti Siddhanta Saraswati Thakur as per the prediction? Prabhupada answered that none of you will do that. The implicit meaning is he will do that.

Quote begins:

In her poem "There Is a Reason for Everything," the poet Helen Steiner Rice wrote:

Our Father tests us often

With suffering and with sorrow;

He tests us not to punish us,

But to help us meet tomorrow.

For growing trees are strengthened

When they withstand the storm;

And the sharp cut of a chisel

Gives the marble grace and form....

So whenever we are troubled

And when everything goes wrong,

It is just God working in us

To make our spirits strong.

Home work - Week 3

1. Why does a self- realized person have no more duties to perform? Why should he still perform prescribed duties?

A self-realized person knows his position as Krishna's eternal servant and he is already acting according to the will of the Lord and his actions are pleasing to the Lord, so he doesnt need to satisfy any other living being nor  he is dependent on any other living being or demi-god. The demi-gods will be automatically pleased by the actions of a self-realized person who is acting on the will of the Lord.

Even though a self-realized person has sufficiently purified his heart and need need not perform his prescribed duty, it is for educating the public, ignorant and foolish persons who will consider themselves highly advanced and may imitate the great personalities. Even though Arjuna may perform his duty well when he quits the battle field and lives in the forest by begging like a jnani without performing actions, the common men may consider themselves equal to Arjuna and will fall down.

Without sufficient purification of the heart one should not abruptly stop the prescribed duties for it may put oneself in a difficult situation. Destruction in the course of one's prescribed duties is better than desrtuction in performing another's duty even perfectly.

"mahajano yena gatah sa panthah" - CC Madhya 17.186. Whatever actions a great man performs, the whole world pursues regardless of what the action is all about. So learned persons should not induce the ignorant mass of people to stop work, rather engage them in Krishna conscious work and gradually help them to attain the state of perfection or Krishna consciousness.

King such as Janaka attained perfection solely by performing prescribed duties. Even Lord Krishna Himself performs prescribed duties when He descends to this world in the human form. He is the Supreme controller and the Supreme Enjoyer, but still to not to bewilder the common men in straying from prescribed duties He does so.

Sometimes Krishna may act against the prescribed duties with gopis and other devotees. But that is due to the affection He has for His devotees. In any case if Krishna's activities appear different from His words, His words are only to be taken into consideration for we cant imitate His actions anytime.

2. State the three degrees of lust covering the soul together with their respective examples.

1. Fire is covered by smoke - Compared to human beings who can easily invoke the God consciousness with little effort.

2. Mirror is covered by dust - Animals such as birds, beasts who cannot  understand the purpose of life and God consciousness. ( A few exceptions I could think of here are Gajendra and the animals in the dham. There's nothing wrong in being an animal in Spritual world :) . In Mahaprabhu's pastimes, the tigers, deers embracing one another and dancing in ecstasy. Some of the souls in the dham are animals because of offenses in their past lives )

3. Embryo is covered by womb - Trees which almost lost their consciousness or low consciousness which is bound so hard into the material modes of nature.

Srila Prabhupada on marriage

Krishna Consciousness is a Society. Society means men, women, children, families, etc. Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu married twice. Nityananda, Adwaita Acharya, Srinivas, Gadadhar, they are all married men. Srila Prabhupad was a family man. Krishna married 16,108 times. Married life is allowed, it is a part of Krishna Consciousness

The purpose of marriage is for husband and wife to assist one another in their service and progress on the path of love for Krishna.  As we will read, Srila Prabhupad encouraged and wanted that all women be married. Especially every young woman must be married. Srila Prabhupad encouraged that brahmacari should remain life-long brahmacari, if possible. At least it is advised to wait as long as they can. Brahmacari is time for self-control, austerity. To build up strong character. Srila Prabhupad instructed, and Manu states in the Manu Samhita, that a boy should put off marriage up until the point when his service or duties become hindered due to mental agitation. Then he can marry. But, for girls, Prabhupad taught that prior to puberty they should be married. And girl should be given a child as soon as she is able.

SRINIVASA ACARYA FINDS HIS DIKSA GURU

By His Holiness Danavir Dasa Goswami

SRINIVASA ACARYA FINDS HIS DIKSA GURU

Srinivasa Acarya, accompanied by a companion, traveled to Puri to see Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu. During the journey, however, he learned that the Lord had disappeared from the world. Srinivasa was devastated and was prepared to commit suicide. Fortunately, that night Lord Caitanya and Nityananda appeared to Srinivasa in a dream. They consoled the grief-stricken young Srinivasa and bade Him to make his way to the Gopinatha temple in Puri to take shelter of Gadadhar Pandit.

Upon reaching Puri, Gadadhar Pandit told Srinivasa: "Just before Caitanya Mahaprabhu passed away, He instructed me to teach you the Bhagavatam. He knew that you would arrive in Puri one day and He asked me to explain Krishna-lila to you. I cannot teach you Bhagavatam at this time, O young Srinivasa, for the manuscript in my possession has now become illegible due to the profusion of tears that I have cried on its pages."

At Gadadhar Prandit's request, Srinivasa himself was sent back to Bengal to get the Bhagavatam. He procured the Bhagavatam from Narahari Sarakara Thakura but upon returning, he found out that Gadadhar has passed from the world. Although heart-broken he was encouraged by many eminent Vaisnavas to journey to Vrndavana and take shelter of Rupa and Sanatana Goswamis. Traveling by foot, he set off for Vrndavana. Only four days before arriving in Vrndavana, Srinivasa heard that Sanatana Goswami had recently passed away. Then when he reached Mathura, but one day's walk from Vrndavana, he learned that Rupa Goswami had passed away only three days earlier. Hearing this, Srinivasa fell to the ground crying like a madman. He felt that he was the most unfortunate person in the entire universe. Every step, from his proposed meeting with Mahaprabhu, to his studying Bhagavatam with Gadadhar Pandit, to his meeting with Rupa and Sanatana, had all failed.

Srinivasa sat beneath a tree and wished for his own death. At this time however, Rupa and Sanatana Goswamis appeared to him in a dream and encouraged him to proceed to Vrndavana. There he visited the temple established by Rupa Goswami, Radha-Govinda Mandira and met Srila Jiva Goswami. Jiva Goswami who introduced him to Srila Gopal Bhatta Goswami. Later Srinivasa accepted Srila Gopal Bhatta Goswami as his initiating spiritual master. Srinivasa was a contemporary and all but a few steps away from the lotus feet of Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu, Sri Gadadhara Pandit, Srila Rupa Goswami and Srila Sanatana Goswami. But They each disappeared from his sight, leaving him seemingly alone. If ritvik initiation had been an option, certainly Srinivasa would have been the most eligible candidate to partake of it. But ritvik initiation is not valid therefore Srinivasa continued his devotional service and ultimately approached the junior Gopal Bhatta Goswami.

We empathize with devotees who are pained at having missed the chance to take diksa directly from His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, but they should follow the example of Srinivasa Acarya who proceeded on with determination, knowing that the Lord had a plan for his deliverance. It is further revealed by the acaryas that Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu, Himself personally ordained that Gopal Bhatta Goswami would initiate Srinivasa. This further substantiates the fact that such arrangements are divine, not accidental or simply formality.

"I HAVE INSTRUCTED EVERYTHING IN MY BOOKS" — SRILA PRABHUPADA

"So I preferred to come to Vrindavana. If death takes place, let it take here. So there is nothing to be said new. Whatever I have to speak, I have spoken in my books. Now you try to understand it and continue your endeavor. Whether I am present or not present, it doesn't matter." (Arrival address: Vrndavana, May, 1977)

Since whatever he had to speak, he spoke in his books, let us then try to understand what's in Srila Prabhupada's books in regards to his disciples becoming diksa gurus:

"A sober person who can tolerate the urge to speak, the mind's demands, the actions of anger and the urges of the tongue, belly and genitals is qualified to make disciples all over the world." (Nectar of Instruction, 1)

kiba vipra, kiba nyasi, sudra kene naya

yei krsna-tattva-vetta, sei 'guru' haya

"As far as Krsna consciousness is concerned, everyone is capable of becoming a spiritual master because knowledge in Krsna consciousness is on the platform of the spirit soul.

"The word guru is equally applicable to the vartmapradarsaka-guru, siksa-guru and diksa-guru. Unless we accept the principle enunciated by Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, this Krsna consciousness movement cannot spread all over the world." (Sri Caitanya Caritamrta 8.128 Purport)

"One who is now the disciple is the next spiritual master." (Srimad-Bhagavatam 2.9.43 Purport)

"As already stated, Brahma is the original spiritual master for the universe, and since he was initiated by the Lord Himself, the message of Srimad-Bhagavatam is coming down by disciplic succession, and in order to receive the real message of Srimad- Bhagavatam one should approach the current link, or spiritual master, in the chain of disciplic succession. After being initiated by the proper spiritual master in that chain of succession, one should engage himself in the discharge of tapasya in the execution of devotional service." (Srimad Bhagavatam, 2.9.7 Purport)

WORD JUGGLING

Mohsin Hassan: Now this movement must have structure. Will you please tell us about the structure of the (indistinct) from the hierarchy on the top, and all the way down.

Prabhupada: Yes, it is, this movement is started from Krsna.

Mohsin Hassan: Yes.

Prabhupada: Then, from Krsna, Narada. From Narada, Vyasadeva. From Vyasadeva to Madhvacarya, from Madhvacarya to Isvara Puri, Madhavendra Puri, then Caitanya Mahaprabhu, then His disciples, the six Goswamis, then Krsna dasa Kaviraja, then Baladeva Vidyabhusana. So we are taking account very rigidly from Caitanya Mahaprabhu, and I am the tenth generation from Caitanya Mahaprabhu.

Mohsin Hassan: Yeah, the tenth. After you, is it any decision has been made who will take over?

Prabhupada: Yes. All of them will take over. These students, who are initiated from me, all of them will act as I am doing. Just like I have got many Godbrothers, they are all acting. Similarly, all these disciples which I am making, initiating, they are being trained to become future spiritual masters.

Mohsin Hassan: How many swamis do you initiated, American? I'm speaking just on…

Prabhupada: About ten.

Mohsin Hassan: You have ten swamis. And outside of swamis, what's the lower…

Prabhupada: Now, they're competent. They can, not only the swamis, even the grihasthas, they are called dasa adhikari, and brahmacaris, everyone can, whoever is initiated, he is competent to make disciples. But as a matter of etiquette they do not do so in the presence of their spiritual master. This is the etiquette. Otherwise, they are competent. They can make disciples and spread. They can recruit more members in this. They do, but they are being trained up. Just like here in this meeting, one of my disciples, he is acting as priest. It is not myself; he is acting. So some of my students, they are acting as priests, some of them are swamis, so they are competent to make disciples.

Would you not agree that, in short, Srila Prabhupada is saying that he expects his disciples to become spiritual masters and accept disciples after his departure? But ritvik theory advocates say that none of Srila Prabhupada's disciples should take disciples. In fact, their newest wordjuggling leader pleads that when Srila Prabhupada says "granddisciple" he doesn't really mean the disciple of his disciple. Here is Srila Prabhupada's actual statement.

Prabhupada: They're his disciple. Who is initiating. He is granddisciple. When I order, "You become guru," he becomes regular guru. That's all. He becomes disciple of my disciple. That's it.(Room conversation: May 28, 1977)

I know it is a little cruel to my reader, but nevertheless I must include a portion of the word-juggler's argument just to demonstrate the extreme lengths to which people will go in order to rearrange concepts which they find unpalatable. Here is the juggler's interpretation of the above excerpt.

"Also there is no reason to suppose that Srila Prabhupada did say 'He's' as opposed to 'His', since such an interpretation would not make any sense. The pronoun 'He' (from He's) before the term 'grand-disciple' refers to the person BEING initiated, the initiate, or the 'grand-disciple'. However in straight-forward standard English the pronoun usually refers to the immediate antecedent (the term that the pronoun follows).

In this case that term is 'who is initiating'. It is obvious therefore that in this case the pronoun CANNOT be 'HE' because how can the INITIATE, the person being INITIATED, or 'grand-disciple', simultaneously be the person 'who is initiating'!…

Even if we allow for the antecedent that the pronoun refers to, to not be the most immediate, there is actually NO antecedent for the pronoun 'HE' to refer to in the whole conversation, since the speaker Srila Prabhupada has never previously mentioned nor alluded to the initiate, or the person BEING INITIATED, in the singular. The only time previously in the conversation that the speaker or the questioners, ever mention the initiate, it is ALWAYS in the plural. '(Yes, THEY are disciples.') Thus a speaker cannot just introduce a pronoun that has no antecedent. It does not make sense. In other words the 'HE' has to REFER to something. But it can not refer to something that has not yet even been mentioned…

However the use of 'His', does make sense, since this use CAN be consistent with the most immediate antecedent, 'who is initiating'. In this case the 'HIS' MUST refer to Srila Prabhupada since the 'ritvik' cannot have grand-disciples. Srila Prabhupada would then also be the person 'who is initiating'"

This is pure nonsense. The juggler cannot follow Srila Prabhupada's simple explanation. Instead, intending to rid the world of gurus, the juggler wants to make Srila Prabhupada the initiating spiritual master and the grand spiritual master at the same time. Must we accept this nonsense?

Lord Krsna's words get twisted too. Man-mana bhava mad-bhaktau:

"One need not submit to Krsna as a person, but to "the unborn within Krsna." Sripad Sankaracarya, the pure devotee Lord Siva incarnate, finally advised his followers to desist from manipulating grammatical suffixes and prefixes and just surrender to Lord Krsna, bhaja Govinda, bhaja Govinda, bhaja Govinda. In the same way, the sincere followers of Srila Prabhupada should stop wasting time hypothesizing about antecedents and instead get on with the duty of assisting Lord Caitanya's sankirtana mission by becoming qualified, bonafide gurus.

ONE YEAR MUTUAL EXAMINATION PERIOD

Did you know that there is a scriptural injunction for a one-year mutual examination period before taking initiation? Ritvik theory eliminates the mutual testing between guru and disciple. In ritvik theory, the guru has no say in the matter, only the self-appointed ritvik channeler calls the shots. This statement from Srila Sanatana Goswami defeats ritvik theory and shows how mutually personal the initiation process is.

"Therefore it is said in the Hari-bhakti-vilasa that one year should be taken to study one another, the guru and the disciple. The guru also will see whether the person is fit to become a disciple, and the disciple also will see "Whether this gentleman can become my guru." (Lecture: August 10, 1974)

"Before accepting somebody as spiritual master you must know about his bona fides. That time is allowed. It is said in the sastra that if you like to accept somebody as spiritual master, you should associate with him at least for one year, see how things are going. If you follow of course others, that is also good. But personally, it is advised that you just remain with the proposed spiritual master for at least one year, so that the spiritual master is also given chance to study you, whether you are acceptable. This is the process." (Lecture: January 30, 1974)

Senses to make sense

By forcefully restraining the senses from the sense objects it is not possible to control the senses. For if it ever gets a chance to stray it will pull the mind of a man even of intelligence. Only by engaging the senses in devotional service can one actually control the senses. In other words to give a better engagement for the senses is the best way to control them. Without being fully Krishna conscious no one can control the senses rather fail in their every attempts doing so.

Criticism is an Infection

When we have to remove the sh*t from a place, we have to handle that personally and by doing so we get contaminated as well. So we

have to do necessary sanitary precautions while handling them, otherwise we may get infected badly. When criticizing others or talking ill
of others it's the same thing. Preachers do it for the good of the conditioned souls in appropriate manner and inspire by their own personal example.
Others who do it for entertainment get contaminated, lost and eventually fall down. We see the world as a reflection of our own mind.

[srilaprabhupadanectar] Remembering Srila Prabhupada - Vaikuntha world

Vaikuntha world

For breakfast Srila Prabhupada took the juice of local coconuts, which were golden colored, and found it delicious. He also took his favorite fruit, mango, which grew abundantly there. His class was in the evening, and so he took time in the morning to speak with Abhirama. Abhirama presented an idea of forming a farm community in Florida. He told Srila Prabhupada about Disney World in Orlando, where maya was presented expertly.

"We should also have a place like that," Prabhupada replied. "It should be called Vaikuntha World." A farm community, Prabhupada said, should be according to varnasrama, and everyone should be engaged according to his propensity and occupation.

The evening class was a treat. It was cool, about seventy degrees, compared to the oppressive heat of the day. The setting was dramatic. Spotlights shone on Srila Prabhupada as he sat on a vyasasana under the banyan tree, while guests and disciples sat around his feet. Prabhupada chose to speak on the first verse of the Thirteenth Chapter of Bhagavad-gita. Although he lectured regularly on Bhagavad-gita as he traveled, he did not use consecutive verses from city to city. In each city, he would open the book at a different place and begin from there.

Srila Prabhupada had repeatedly taught that the basis of Bhagavad-gita and of all spiritual life is to hear submissively from the spiritual master. "Our Krsna consciousness movement is teaching people how to become submissive to the authority." Again he recalled the psychiatrist who visited him in Caracas. The man's arrogant unsubmissiveness had made an impression on Prabhupada; even so-called educated men were too proud to submit themselves to absolute authority.

"This psychiatrist's question was," Prabhupada said to his audience in Miami, "The problems of the world are increasing, so what is your prescription to solve these problems?' So the problem is very easy to be solved. I gave the example that the body is here, and there is something which is moving the body, the living force. So that living force is the driver of the body, and also the body is described in the Bhagavad-gita as a machine."

Prabhupada explained the Bhagavad-gita verse, commenting that real knowledge was to know the difference between the self and the body. To manufacture a nice car or machine was not education.

"In India," Prabhupada said, "he who knows how to join wires and bring current like an electrician is called a mistri. Mistri means worker.' But that does not mean he is educated. Education is a different thing. But at the present moment the education is technical. Formerly this technical education was entrusted to the demons. Formerly they also manufactured big, big airplanes, but that was being done by the demons -- not by the great saintly persons or sages, no. That was being done by the demons. The yogis could also produce wonderful things by their yogic mystic power. That was another thing. But generally, where there was a question of manufacturing, that was being done by the demons. Education, however, means brahma-vidya, to understand what is the living force within the body -- What is his constitutional position? How is it working? Where from it has come?"

On the second night Prabhupada lectured again. Each talk was lengthy, and he answered all questions. As the last question on the last evening in Miami, one of the devotees asked, "Srila Prabhupada, if someone takes prasadam even once, is it true that they are guaranteed at least a human body in their next life?"

"Yes," Prabhupada replied. "You go on simply eating, that's all. And all of my devotees, they have come to me simply by eating prasadam." As he said this, Prabhupada was beaming, smiling, looking all around. When his glance fell on Abhirama, the temple president, who sat beside him, Prabhupada said, "You, too, Abhirama?" Abhirama looked sheepish and said, "Yes, Srila Prabhupada." Prabhupada made other devotees admit their attraction for krsna-prasadam. "You also?" he asked one after another. "You also?" Everyone admitted, until the audience was thrown into laughter and appreciation of prasadam.

"Yes," Prabhupada continued in good humor. "So we give all facilities. If you cannot do anything, please come and eat with us. All right, thank you very much."

"When one eats grain offered by a materialistic man, one's mind becomes contaminated, and when the mind is contaminated, one is unable to think of Krishna properly. When one accepts an grain from a person contaminated by the material mode of passion, the person who offers the grain and the person who accepts it are both mentally contaminated."

"The Lord replied: I cannot tolerate seeing the face of a person who has accepted the renounced order of life but who still talks intimately with a woman. So strongly do the senses adhere to the objects of their enjoyment that indeed a wooden statue of a woman attracts the mind of even a great saintly person. There are many persons with little in their possession who accept the renounced order of life like monkeys. They go here and there engaging in sense gratification and speaking intimately with women. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu said: My mind is not under My control. It does not like to see anyone in the renounced order who talks intimately with women. I am a sannyasi, and I certainly consider Myself renounced.

But not to speak of seeing a woman, if I even hear the name of a woman, I feel changes in My mind and body. Therefore who could remain unmoved by the sight of a woman? It is very difficult."
