One sees different types of living entity in different type of body is not intelligent

This is the idea of the people of the modern world who are basically passionate. One who has beautiful body is considered having higher levels of consciousness. But it is not always true. Material advancement means how best I can exploit my senses and be sensual. In today's world, a person is considered advanced when he is able to enjoy his senses without limits. But in reality it's not so. We can see  the reality through the eyes of the scriptures in the below verses,

Bhaktivedanta VedaBase: Bhagavad-gītā As It Is 18.21

pṛthaktvena tu yaj jñānaḿ
nānā-bhāvān pṛthag-vidhān
vetti sarveṣu bhūteṣu
taj jñānaḿ viddhi rājasam

SYNONYMS

pṛthaktvena — because of division; tu — but; yat — which; jñānam — knowledge; nānā-bhāvān — multifarious situations; pṛthak-vidhān — different; vetti — knows; sarveṣu — in all; bhūteṣu — living entities; tat — that; jñānam — knowledge; viddhi — must be known; rājasam — in terms of passion.

TRANSLATION

That knowledge by which one sees that in every different body there is a different type of living entity you should understand to be in the mode of passion.

PURPORT

The concept that the material body is the living entity and that with the destruction of the body the consciousness is also destroyed is called knowledge in the mode of passion. According to that knowledge, bodies differ from one another because of the development of different types of consciousness, otherwise there is no separate soul which manifests consciousness. The body is itself the soul, and there is no separate soul beyond the body. According to such knowledge, consciousness is temporary. Or else there are no individual souls, but there is an all-pervading soul, which is full of knowledge, and this body is a manifestation of temporary ignorance. Or beyond this body there is no special individual or supreme soul. All such conceptions are considered products of the mode of passion.

Bhaktivedanta VedaBase: Bhagavad-gītā As It Is 5.18

vidyā-vinaya-sampanne
brāhmaṇe gavi hastini
śuni caiva śva-pāke ca
paṇḍitāḥ sama-darśinaḥ

SYNONYMS

vidyā — with education; vinaya — and gentleness; sampanne — fully equipped; brāhmaṇe — in the brāhmaṇa; gavi — in the cow; hastini — in the elephant; śuni — in the dog; ca — and; eva — certainly; śva-pāke— in the dog-eater (the outcaste); ca — respectively; paṇḍitāḥ — those who are wise; sama-darśinaḥ — who see with equal vision.

TRANSLATION

The humble sages, by virtue of true knowledge, see with equal vision a learned and gentle brāhmaṇa, a cow, an elephant, a dog and a dog-eater [outcaste].

PURPORT

Kṛṣṇa conscious person does not make any distinction between species or castes. The brāhmaṇa and the outcaste may be different from the social point of view, or a dog, a cow, and an elephant may be different from the point of view of species, but these differences of body are meaningless from the viewpoint of a learned transcendentalist. This is due to their relationship to the Supreme, for the Supreme Lord, by His plenary portion as Paramātmā, is present in everyone's heart. Such an understanding of the Supreme is real knowledge. As far as the bodies are concerned in different castes or different species of life, the Lord is equally kind to everyone because He treats every living being as a friend yet maintains Himself as Paramātmā regardless of the circumstances of the living entities. The Lord as Paramātmā is present both in the outcaste and in the brāhmaṇa, although the body of a brāhmaṇa and that of an outcaste are not the same. The bodies are material productions of different modes of material nature, but the soul and the Supersoul within the body are of the same spiritual quality. The similarity in the quality of the soul and the Supersoul, however, does not make them equal in quantity, for the individual soul is present only in that particular body whereas the Paramātmā is present in each and every body. A Kṛṣṇa conscious person has full knowledge of this, and therefore he is truly learned and has equal vision. The similar characteristics of the soul and Supersoul are that they are both conscious, eternal and blissful. But the difference is that the individual soul is conscious within the limited jurisdiction of the body whereas the Supersoul is conscious of all bodies. The Supersoul is present in all bodies without distinction.

Excerpt from Mahabharata - Chakra Vyuha

Chakra Vyuha

In the Mahabharata there are two beautiful characters Arjuna and Abhimanyu, they were father and son. When Abhimanyu was in the mother's womb, Subhadra, who was Abhimanyu's mother and the wife of Arjuna, asked her husband a question about the strategies in warfare. Arjuna started explaining about a special impregnable arrangement of soldiers on the battlefield, which one has to penetrate and come out successfully or one could get trapped and killed. The particular arrangement he was describing was known as chakra vyuha. Subhadra listened only up to the point when one can enter the arrangement and fell asleep. Abhimanyu was also listening from the womb up to the point where the mother slept.

The baby was born and grew up to become a brave warrior. In the battle of Mahabharata Kauravas formed the chakra vyuha and Arjuna, the only one who had the skill of going in and coming out successfully was away at another place. In his absence Abhimanyu volunteered to go in as he remembered what he had heard from the mother's womb. He went in but could not come out successfully as he had heard only up until the time the mother slept. The other warriors who wanted to help could not follow as the vyuha closed before they could enter.

The world is a chakra vyuha. Most people know how to get in but cannot come out. Arjuna knew how to go in and come out. This world is a river full of alligators, which we have to cross. It is infested with many wild animals like the ego, anger, jealousy and judgmental attitude. At every footstep there is temptation.

The shield of discipline: There is a belief that if you smear the body with turmeric paste and then enter the waters the alligators do not come to you. Yellow color indicates satttva, red rajas and black tamas. The rajasic mind is restless and entertains anger and pride. The tamasic mind is clouded with pramada and alasya

THE MISERABLE FERRIS WHEEL GAME

THE MISERABLE FERRIS WHEEL GAME

The nature of the spirit soul is Sat-Cit-Ananda i.e. the soul is eternal, full of knowledge and full of bliss. In contrast, the body is temporary and full of ignorance and suffering. Because of this incompatibility between the two, the soul, who is meant to be happy in an eternal blissful atmosphere, is never happy in this temporary miserable body. The soul has to repeatedly experience birth, old age, disease and death in different bodies.

Hence Shankaracarya has sung:

punar api jananam punar api maranam,

punar api janani jatare sayanam

iha samsare bahu dustare kripaya pare pahi murare

"O Murari, Lord Krishna, I am repeatedly tossed in the waves of birth and death. I am forced to be born again and again and forced to die again and again. In this way I have been occupying the wombs of millions of mothers. Please kindly shower your merciful glance upon me and deliver me from this ocean of nescience."

In this way, the soul sometimes is damned to occupy a dog's body or blessed to get a human body, depending on his past desires and activities. This cycle of birth and death is like a Ferris  wheel where sometimes you are at the top and sometimes at the bottom. Similarly the soul keeps on taking one body after another until he becomes completely purified and becomes a surrendered devotee of God.

If you become conscious of Me, you will pass over all the obstacles of conditioned life by My grace - Lord Sri Krsna in Bhagavad Gita

Bhaktivedanta VedaBase: Bhagavad-gītā As It Is 18.58

mac-cittaḥ sarva-durgāṇi
mat-prasādāt tariṣyasi
atha cet tvam ahańkārān
na śroṣyasi vinańkṣyasi

SYNONYMS

mat — of Me; cittaḥ — being in consciousness; sarva — all; durgāṇi — impediments; mat-prasādāt — by My mercy; tariṣyasi — you will overcome; atha — but; cet— if; tvam — you; ahańkārāt — by false ego; na śroṣyasi — do not hear; vinańkṣyasi — you will be lost.

TRANSLATION

If you become conscious of Me, you will pass over all the obstacles of conditioned life by My grace. If, however, you do not work in such consciousness but act through false ego, not hearing Me, you will be lost.

PURPORT

A person in full Kṛṣṇa consciousness is not unduly anxious about executing the duties of his existence. The foolish cannot understand this great freedom from all anxiety. For one who acts in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, Lord Kṛṣṇa becomes the most intimate friend. He always looks after His friend's comfort, and He gives Himself to His friend, who is so devotedly engaged working twenty-four hours a day to please the Lord. Therefore, no one should be carried away by the false ego of the bodily concept of life. One should not falsely think himself independent of the laws of material nature or free to act. He is already under strict material laws. But as soon as he acts in Kṛṣṇa consciousness, he is liberated, free from the material perplexities. One should note very carefully that one who is not active inKṛṣṇa consciousness is losing himself in the material whirlpool, in the ocean of birth and death. No conditioned soul actually knows what is to be done and what is not to be done, but a person who acts in Kṛṣṇa consciousness is free to act because everything is prompted by Kṛṣṇa from within and confirmed by the spiritual master.

Nature is so perfect that simply give you a beautiful woman(for woman it is handsome man), and you are all prisoners

You cannot stop the sex unless you are fully in Krsna consciousness. It is
not possible. And that is the material bondage. In the material prisonhouse
they have got so many means-big, big walls, handcuff, chain -- but nature is
so perfect that simply give you a beautiful woman, and you are all prisoner.
Big wall, handcuff and chain -- everything is complete

Don't bother for the poor, just be Krsna conscious

From: "bhakti.vikasa.swami"

If you become sinful, there will be restriction of supply by laws of nature.
How is that? Just say you become diseased. The doctor will say, "Don't take
food." That is grace. When there is restriction of food supply by nature's
law, that is God's grace. Because God is good. He is starving you for your
welfare. Just like mother, when child is ill mother does not give food, and
other child is giving sufficiently. The one child may say who is diseased,
"Mother, you are not giving me cakes. Why you are giving to my brother?"
That is mother's consideration. You should not bother. That is mother's
decision that "This boy, this child, is diseased. If I give him food he will
die." See? Similarly, don't bother yourself that the poor man is suffering
or the rich man is enjoying. You simply take concern how to increase your
Krsna consciousness. That is real welfare work. God is taking care who is
supplying food to the animals, beasts, birds, so He will take care. And that
is law. No beast, no bird is dying out of starvation. Simply we are
mismanaging things. We are disobeying the laws of nature; therefore we are
in trouble, so-called civilized human society.

Social involvement

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via KKS Blog by hina on 1/23/13

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 2 January 2013, Durban, South Africa, Srimad Bhagavatam 12.8.46)

cpt_snana yatraIt is an art to have to deal with others. For me too! I could be very peacefully chanting Hare Krsna, doing a little worship, lots of nice kirtans and leave it at that. But then, there are these people that have marriage problems, or devotees that fall down or devotees that want to have a sex change, and you think, 'But wasn't the philosophy that we are not the body!?'

So, the amount of complications that we have to get into by social involvement is overwhelming. It is an art that one has to learn to use anger in a very controlled way; a cool anger not hot anger. When you are a teacher, there is always the issue that the students don't want to be controlled; I was one of those rebellious students. But the fact of the matter is that you have the control but you don't have to assert your authority and if people don't co-operate, then okay. So if anyone doesn't co-operate then it is very simple, 'I'll give you a few chances and then you're out. Go speak to the director and good luck!'

Simple as that. There is no discussion about it. Just a few chances and then out. I'm not going to get upset with you… I just lay down the line… very simple… this is it!

I see it with temple presidents who are trying to assert their authority. There's no need, you already got it. You're the temple president, you're the boss, you have the authority! The problem is that people, out of fear, get out of control and start to try to assert their authority. That is when they get under the modes - dealing with such aggression. So, with the mode of goodness you just realize, 'No, I have the authority, I will just stay calm and I'll establish clearly how it is and if they are not co-operating then they are out, after a few warnings.'

So, in the mode of goodness, one is the tortoise who stays in his own goodness and then puts out the legs but not too much, not where you completely and emotionally throw yourself in a material situation!

A noble mission

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via KKS Blog by hina on 1/9/13

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, Srimad Bhagavatam 4.28.55)

killer-whaleAll of our services are serving that noble mission of that noble Lord. Because the service is noble, it is easy to perform. Because it touches the heart, it is easy to do. If there is a noble cause then we feel called for it. If we can save the whales, then yes, we are ready for it. Let us go and save the whales and knock on the doors and say, 'Please give for the whales.'

But to really save the whales takes more than just a knock on someone's door and collecting some money because the whales have to be saved from themselves. You think that you are going to save him by knocking on the door with a list and say, 'Please give a donation to save the whale?'

You think that money will solve all problems. Prabhupada said, 'It is your Western disease. When you have a problem; you throw some money at it and you think you solved the problem.' But that does not really solve the problem because the problem is deeply rooted in the heart.

The whale is impure; the whale is hard-hearted; the whale is wallowing in selfishness; roaming around in selfishness – that is the nature of the whale. If we really want to take up this mission, to deliver all living beings of the universe, then you got something to do therefore you will never feel a lack devotional service, never!

Even when we have been around for years, we will always struggle deep down in our heart; we will still have resistance until the day comes when we take up this noble mission. Until we appreciate this noble mission, until we really start to think about it – it's really wonderful that Krsna is trying to deliver all the living beings in this in world and that I can also help a little bit in this mission.

That is where devotional service suddenly becomes inspiring. That is the thing that can capture our heart! Nothing else can do it actually. Nothing else can make us into a servant no matter how much we act; yes, we may act like a butler, "Yes Krsna, here is your salt, here is your garland and fresh water with tulasi devi grown for you in the greenhouse with this special warm lamps… for you, for your pleasure Krsna."

But we are still looking for our own pleasure also, again and again. But when we get so absorbed in taking up that noble mission then whatever little bit of comfort we are taking is simply there to keep us going. It is simply there to keep us going in this mission because the mission is so great that one can exhaust all one's energy in this mission!

The pain of detachment

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via KKS Blog by hina on 1/8/13

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, Srimad Bhagavatam 4.28.55)

krsnas fluteThe living being is by nature pleasure seeking and this is so deeply intrinsic to his nature that once he is seeking for pleasure, he can't give up. Once he becomes misdirected, that drive for pleasure is so strong that he just doesn't give up. He keeps on looking because Krsna's material energy is the reflection of the spiritual energy which is endless. So there is so much endless varieties. So he thinks that, 'Well, maybe one of these days, it will work.'

So this is how maya captures the living being, feeding on that fundamental nature of the soul, for the soul is pleasure seeking. So one has to cut (this drive) with intelligence, one cannot wait till the point where one is tired of it! That was Rajneesh, later also known as Osho, who had the philosophy: You just indulge in sense gratification to a point where you become sick of it! But you never really got sick of it, just sick of it for a few days but then you try again.

Srila Prabhupada said, 'If that would be true then the pigs would be the biggest yogis!'

But we have this idea, 'I'll stop when I'm exhausted with material things.'

But we'll never become exhausted but we have to, at one point, on the strength of knowledge say, 'This doesn't make sense, this is not intelligent. I'm going to stop.' You are cutting it now and it is a little painful. So this initial cutting has to be done otherwise we won't take to spiritual life!

A Week in Amsterdhama

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via KKS Blog by Uddhava on 1/19/13

After the whole month of recovering in South Africa Kadamba Kanana Swami ventured out to the north and stopped for a week in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. With temperatures below -5 maharaja kept us warm with his inspiring presence and interesting classes. Due to his recovering health he took it easy  the first few days. He did not give class everyday, but during the week the amount of classes increased.

After his arrival on friday morning he attended the regular sunday feast in the Amsterdam temple. And it was packed with people from all over europe. Some devotees came especially from Croatia and Germany to hear maharaja speak on Srimad Bhagavatam and the other scriptures.

The sunday feast was a blast with easy going bhajans, a super nice class, kirtan by Sadbhuja prabhu and a lovely vegetarian Krsna feast cooked by Vani dd et al. Maharaja spoke about the vaisnava's and how our faith needs to be established and that we need to develop love, because faith is not enough. Being in goodness is desirable but we need to extend beyond that. After the sunday feast everybody left home happy.

Audio Classes

During the week that followed maharaja gave a few classes on Srimad Bhagavatam and Caitanya Caritamrta. You can listen to them below or download for later.

Maya’s most powerful weapon

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via KKS Blog by hina on 1/20/13

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 16 July 2012, Modra, Slovakia)

Maya is in so many ways infiltrating our lives. Maya is everywhere. Who is maya? They say maya is a witch. For the male, she takes a female form and for the female, a male form. In this way, maya the illusory energy, has only one purpose, to bind the living beings. Different chains are being used; chains of greed, chains of anger but the strongest chain of all is known as, 'mayy āyuṅktām anugraham,' (SB. 3.14.11) the chain of sex, that is maya's most powerful weapon because that makes us think that the material world is a place to enjoy.

Blessed in the West

Sent to you by dinesh via Google Reader:

via KKS Blog by hina on 1/20/13

(Kadamba Kanana Swami, 4 January 2013, Ladysmith, South Africa)

Sri Mati Tulasi DeviPrabhupada's disciple Govinda Dasi, planted tulasi in the West. She brought seeds from India and managed to sprout them and the first tulasi plants in the West started to grow. Prabhupada was so happy! He said, 'You brought tulasi from India to the West; this is wonderful! You have been blessed for this forever!'

And such a service she did. Govinda Dasi is remembered for the one who brought tulasi to the West; it was quite something. Now of course, everywhere we have tulasi but again, it was through Prabhupada, it was Prabhupada's disciples! Prabhupada brought us all these things; that is our shelter. If we never walk around tulasi, then that's not so auspicious. By walking around tulasi devi:

'yani kani cha papani
brahma-hatyadikani cha
tani tani pranashyanti
pradakshinaha pade pade,' (Sri Tulasi Pradaksina Mantra)

By circumambulating (tulasi), step-by-step we are being purified from so many sinful reactions and even serious offences. Even the most serious offence like the killing of a brahmana - couldn't be more serious than that – but even from that one can become purified by circumambulating tulasi devi. So all these things are just part of our life and yes, everywhere we keep tulasi and water tulasi. So there is our vaisnava culture. Every devotee must take care of tulasi!

To be perfectly situated

"No, it's just not worth it, to pursue these lower desires, it's not worth it!"

radhakundOne time I was in Sridham Mayapur talking to Jananivasa, the head pujari, and he was saying, "It is very difficult for us to become brahmanas."

I looked at him, "If it's difficult for you, than what about me?"

To be perfectly situated in the mode of goodness maybe difficult for us. It may not happen in this lifetime but that is also not our objective. Our objective is simply to serve Krsna and become attached to serving Krsna, and the more we become attached to serving Krsna, the more everything else disappears. Then the more it begins to look bleak, not magically, 'Hocus, pocus, all my sinful thoughts are gone!' No, not like that, but, "It's just not worth it." Sinful thoughts may come but one comes to a point and says, "No, it's just not worth it, to pursue these lower desires, it's not worth it!"

A confession

1-8-Inch-Yoga-MatThe real purpose of these yoga exercises, in traditional vedic culture, was to get some control over the body and then some control over the mind. The primary aim of these yoga asanas is mind control because the mind is very difficult to control. The mind is very restless and is like a little boat on the waves and the waves tend to take away the mind; there is wind and on some days, there is a storm. I mean, at the Cape, we know very well what it is like!

You know, this is the Cape of Good Hope! This name was given by sailors who were hoping that the currents and waves will not be too strong so that their tiny little ships would not be blown away or thrown by waves in deep waters. So things like that, therefore Cape of Good Hope!

The mind is like a tiny ship which is easily blown away by so many things and we don't even have it in our language to describe it, "Oh, I was totally blown out! My mind just blew me away." So, sometimes in metaphor, we use this kind of language because the mind is so easily controlled by the material energy. That is why people in traditional times were practicing these exercises to control the mind but it is very difficult.

You know, I will confess to you! I also bought a yoga mat; yes I did! Not because of any high ideals but because I was spending too much time behind the computer. I also felt like I needed to do something for my back. They say that you have to strengthen the belly muscles and there are three levels of muscles that you have to work on. And I had my yoga mat and I lifted my legs and pulled one up and the other one and so on. Breathe in, breathe out! I did it all for three days! After three days, I never looked at the yoga mat again. But, you know, it is so austere. Some people who are good at it, like it. People who are naturally elastic, they love to bend over.

Srila Prabhupada speaks on: "Universal Government"

Universal Government
"Universal Government"

Srimad-Bhagavatam 6.1.32
San Francisco, July 17, 1975

download  flash player

Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada

Take a test

Nitai: "Being forbidden in this way, the order carriers of the son of the sun-god, Yamaraja, immediately replied: Who are all of you who have the audacity to oppose the ruling jurisdiction of Yamaraja, the king of religious principles?"

Prabhupada:

ucur nisedhitas tams te
vaivasvata-purahsarah
ke yuyam pratiseddharo
dharma-rajasya sasanam
 [SB 6.1.32]

Dharma-rajasya sasanam. There is a ruling all over the universe under the jurisdiction of Dharmaraja, or the supreme judge, for considering sinful and pious activities. There is a big government within this universe. But those who are thinking very poorly, without any advanced knowledge, atheist, they think that everything is coming automatically. Anisva, anisvara rahuh.(?) They say there is no isvara, supreme ruler, and everything is happening by nature. But they cannot explain what is nature. At least, they have to admit nature is a power which is controlling him. We are not independent of the laws of nature. That is not possible. Even if you accept nature, then you are under the control of nature. That is a fact. Who is controlling nature, that you may not know because your knowledge is very poor. But nature is controlling you, that you can understand, everyone can understand. You cannot supersede the laws of nature. Daivi hy esa gunamayi mama maya duratyaya [Bg. 7.14]. Just like ordinary criminal, thief. The police is chastising him. He does not think that there is any other power over the police. He thinks the police is the father and mother, and he is poor class. He does not know that police is not the supreme power. The supreme power is the president or the minister of law and order. He thinks, "This constable is everything." So poor-class thinking, they think nature is everything. But any way, everyone is under the control of nature.

prakrteh kriyamanani
gunaih karmani sarvasah
ahankara-vimudhatma
kartaham iti manyate
 [Bg. 3.27]

The so-called scientists, thinker, they are thinking that "We are everything. We can create, and we can control over the nature." These are all mad thinking. It is not possible. Nobody has ever been able to control over the nature, what to speak of understanding God. God is the controller of nature. Mayadhyaksena prakrtih suyate sa-caracaram [Bg. 9.10]. Nature is not independent.

So anyway, we are dependent on the laws of nature. That nobody can deny, even the greatest scientist, he cannot also deny. And because we are under the control of the laws of nature, we must admit, if we are sane man, that there is a system of ruling. If we deny the supreme ruler, we may do it madly, but there must be a systematic action, reaction. So here is Dharmaraja. Just like we have got magistrate. So magistrate's duty is, when a criminal is brought before him, to judge what kind of punishment he should be allowed. Justice there is. Similarly, this Dharmaraja means the criminals are brought before him. Dharmaraja is appointed magistrate by the Supreme Lord. So everyone, after death, he is brought before Dharmaraja, the Yamaraja, and he judges what kind of next body this criminal will have. That is Dharmaraja. He is judged by his work. Karmana daiva-netrena jantur deha-upapattaye [SB 3.31.1]. Just like the magistrate punishes the criminal, what kind of punishment he should be awarded, how he will be allowed to live within the prison house. Just like a political prisoner. In our country just now they have... So many big, big leaders have been arrested. But they are not put in the same level of ordinary criminals. They are given all facilities. They are given nice house, servants and newspaper. They are given all facilities of indepen..., outside life, according to the position. They are called first-class prisoners. And there are similarly second-class prisoners, third-class prisoners. So this is judged by a person.

So here we are all prisoners within the material world, and some of us are first-class prisoners, and some of us second class, and some of us third class. Therefore, we see the higher class of men in the society, middle class of men in the society, either in human society or even animal society... There is first-class animal, second-class animal, third-class animal. In the trees also, the same work is going on by nature. Prakrteh kriyamanani gunaih karmani sarvasah [Bg. 3.27]. One tree is supplying mango, so this mango tree is respect, and another tree, which is producing nothing, they are cut and made into fuel, because useless, no use. So amongst the trees, also you will find first class, second class, third class. Amongst the birds, beasts, animals, there is... Just like lion. He is also animal, and dog is also animal. They are not on the same level. Amongst the birds there are swans and there are crows. The crow is different from the swan although they are birds. The standard of enjoyment by the crows is different from the standard of enjoyment of the swan, white swan.

tad-vag-visargo janatagha-viplavo
yasmin prati-slokam abaddhavaty api
namany anantasya yaso 'nkitani yat
srnvanti gayanti grnanti sadhavah
[SB 1.5.11]

Now here we are studying Srimad-Bhagavatam or Bhagavad-gita. This is... This literature is meant for the swans, not for the crows. That is the division. And other literatures, sex literatures and these criminal literatures -- there are so many literatures -- they are meant for the crows, crow-class men. And this literature is meant for swan-class of men, swan, paramahamsa. We are also reading... We are not interested with the lump of newspaper. We are interested in Srimad-Bhagavatam. Why? Because within this literature there is glorification of the Supreme Lord, how He is conducting the whole universal affair, how the sun is rising exactly in time by His order, the moon is rising exactly by His order, not a minute's deviation. The big, big ocean, Pacific Ocean, Atlantic Ocean, very big, powerful, but still within the limit. The Pacific Ocean cannot come beyond the jurisdiction. So who is managing this? Yasyajnaya bhramati sambhrta-kala-cakrah. Even the biggest planet within this universe, the sun, it is also rotating in his orbit by the supreme order. So there is supreme order everywhere. There is government. There is ruling. But the rascals, they cannot see. They simply believe in the direct experience. Direct experience is not first-class experience. The first-class experience is to receive knowledge from the person who knows. That is first-class experience.

There are there types of experience. One kind of experience is direct experience. That is third-class. And another experience is by history, by books. And another experience is by hearing from the Supreme. So we are gathering experience by hearing from the Supreme. Just like here Sukadeva Gosvami is narrating Srimad-Bhagavatam. He has heard it from his father, Vyasadeva. His father has heard it from Narada Muni, his spiritual master. Narada Muni has heard it from Brahma, the first living creature within this universe. And Brahma has heard it from Krsna. This is called parampara system. So this kind of knowledge is perfect knowledge. Evam parampara-praptam imam rajarsayo viduh [Bg. 4.2]. This Vivasvan... Evam parampara-praptam imam rajarsayo viduh. Imam vivasvate yogam proktavan aham avyayam [Bg. 4.1]. Krsna said, "I first of all narrated this yoga system to Vivasvan, Vivasvan, the sun-god." Vivasvan manave praha: "So Vivasvan, the sun-god, from him, Manu heard it." Here also it is said, vaivasvata-purahsarah. The vaivasvata, this word, comes from Vivasvan. The Yamaraja is authorized because he also heard everything about truth from Vivasvan. Therefore his name is vaivasvata-purahsarah. And his servants, they heard it from their master. This is the way. This is the way of understanding.

So ucur nisedhitas tams te. They are the servants of Yamaraja, vaivasvata. So therefore they are vaivasvata-purahsarah. The important assistants of Vaivasvata, Yamaraja, they heard that somebody is warning, "Don't touch." In the previous verse we have learned, varayam asuh, forbidden, "Don't touch," ojasa, very strongly. So they became surprised, "Who are these persons? They are interfering with our business. We have come from supreme authority, magistrate." Just like police comes with his warrant of magistrate -- nobody can check it. If somebody wants to check it, then he will be punished. The whole government force is behind the warrant of the police. Nobody can check it. If there is riot, then government will bring military forces to accept. So this is called ruling. So we are under these rulings. However foolishly we may declare we are independent, that is our completely foolishness. When the warrant is there, you cannot check it. The whole power is behind. Either you become the great scientist or philosopher, when the warrant of death will come from Yamaraja, there is no power to check it. Therefore they were surprised, that "Who is this foolish?" But they saw that the persons, they are coming from Vaikuntha. They had different features, so beautiful, four handed, nicely decorated. So they were surprised.

Therefore in the next verse it is:

kasya va kuta ayatah
kasmad asya nisedhatha
kim deva upadeva ya
yuyam kim siddha-sattamah

"You are so nice." Because they are Yamaraja. Their bodily features already described: twisted face and the hair standing just perpendicularly. So they never saw. Why they? Even... We are supposed to be civilized man. We have not seen how the bodies are there in the Vaikuntha. Here you can understand that in the Vaikuntha planets, as the Lord Visnu is four-handed, similarly, all the inhabitants there, they are also four-handed and equally dressed. Just like here, if your President Ford comes, he also dressed like a nice gentleman. And there are many others also, equally nicely dressed. You cannot distinguish who is President and who is ordinary man. Similarly, in the Vaikunthaloka all the inhabitants are equally in external feature: four-handed with the weapons -- the disc, the club, the conchshell, the lotus flower. All the Vaikuntha's inhabitants: the same dress, same garment, same ornaments, same weapons. But still, there is distinction, that kaustubha jewel. That you will find Him hanging. By that kaustubha jewel, one can understand that "Here is Lord Visnu, and here is ordinary living being." Just like the president has got his confidential plaque. If one challenges his credential, he can show, "Yes." The same principle.

So ruling is there. You can say foolishly that "There is no ruling. I can do whatever I like." That you can do. Just like Ajamila was doing. But now the two classes of messengers have come. The Yamadutas have come to take him away because externally he is the most sinful man. Therefore they are protesting, "How is that? It is already settled up. This man has committed so many sinful activities. So they are under our jurisdiction. Who are you, you are forbidding us?" But the Visnudutas have come there because although he was sinful, although he was most impious, although he was a prostitute-hunter and cheater and so many good qualities, still, he has chanted the holy name of Narayana at the end of his life. Immediately Visnudutas... This is the facility. Whole life sinful, ante narayana-smrtih [SB 2.1.6], but he has remembered Narayana at the end of his life. Very painful life. At the time of death it is very, very painful. We have got experience. Therefore you do not wish to die, because it is very, very painful. Similarly, after death, immediately, by the discrimination of Yamaraja, he gets another body. Karmana daiva-netrena [SB 3.31.1]. Daiva-netrena, by the supervision of superior power, the Yamaraja takes away, and then he gives a body. First of all he is put into the hellish condition of life as he will get. Then, when he is little practiced, then he is given the similar body. Otherwise how it...? It will be... Suppose a person from, coming from very high family or king's royal family, but he has acted just like dogs and dogs. Then next life he is going to have a body of hog or dog. So therefore he is put into such life, subtle life -- that is Yamaraja's business -- to be used in that way of life Then he is given a solid body or gross body so that the same royal prince, he can very easily eat stool. This is the process, nature's process is going on. Prakrteh kriyamanani gunaih karmani sarvasah [Bg. 3.27]. They are simply explaining "nature." How nature is working, these foolish rascals, they do not know. They do not know. Nature is working. That is fact. But how the nature is working, how different forms of body, different activities are going on, by whose judgment, who is looking after, these things they do not know. This is the modern education.

But Krsna conscious person, they know how things are going on, how nature is working, what is the effect. Everything we will find in the Srimad-Bhagavatam, how many different planetary systems are there, what is the situation each and every planet. You will get all this description in the Srimad-Bhagavatam. There are... We have got description. There are many planets. They are simply thousands and millions of miles only gold, thousands and millions of miles only copper. We have got this description from the Srimad-Bhagavatam. There are oceans of milk, oceans of liquor, oceans of oil, oceans of yogurt. These things are there. What information you have got? You do not know fully what is the material nature. Therefore we do not believe that these men went to the moon planet. We have got different description of the moon planet. The moon planet is situated 1,600,000's of miles above the sun. We have got this description: 1,600,000 miles above the... And there is also blazing fire like the sun planet. Sun planet is very hot, and the moon planet is surrounded by very cool atmosphere. Just like when there is cold and heat together, you enjoy it, so moon planet is like that. And those who are in the karma-kandiya, means fruitive activities, those who are actually acting very piously, they are allowed to enter into the moon planet. And there you get life, ten thousands of years' duration of life. And that year is very, very big than our years. Our six months equal to one day in the moon planet. Now, such ten thousands of years you can get your duration of life, and very cold. Therefore you can drink there soma-rasa.

So these are the explanation in the Srimad-Bhagavatam. And it is situated above the sun planet, and above, the distance is also given there: 1,600,000's of miles. And above that, similarly, 1,600,000 miles, there is Mars, there is Jupiter, there is Venus, like that. So universe is not so small that you can ride on your 747 and go. (laughter) It is not so easy. It is not so easy. So therefore, from the circumstances, we can conclude that they could not approach the moon planet. And now they are saying that "It is useless. There is no need of going there. The grapes are sour." (laughter) The jackal jumping, jumping, jumping. When he could not get the grapes, then he is rejecting, "Oh, this is sour. It is no use." So after jumping so many years and spending so much money, they are now rejecting: "The moon planet is not habitable." But we get there. This is one of the heavenly planets, and it is habitable by the most advanced pious men. So these are the difference. Now it is your business to believe the so-called scientist or the sastra, as you like. But we cannot believe. Because we are Krsna conscious, we have to believe what is stated in the sastra.

So there is government. Therefore they were surprised that "Who are you that you are trying to..." Dharma-rajasya sasanam. Sasanam means government. "You are trying to resist us, from the government of Dharmaraja? We have never experienced. How is this? Who are you?" So this is the question. Now we shall discuss next day how this government of Dharmaraja is violated and why it is violated. We will hear next.

Thank you very much. (end)
